Chapter 31

Inside, Shokei and her two allies walk through a straight hall that brings them to a wide-spaced room. Looking around, they can see that the monastery is ancient and looks run down. The concrete floor appears to be ceramic, and it's cracked in some parts. On their left, they can see a small cage in the corner of the room and there is someone inside the cage that appears to be sleeping.

"Huh? What's a cage doing in this monastery?" Naoko asked.

"Looks as if someone is inside. Let's check it out." Shokei said.

The party walks over to see who is inside the cage. There they see a girl dressed in a bck goth-lolita outfit, which looks like the outfit that The wears. Looking carefully, Shokei can see that the girl is resting her head back against a wall and looks to be sleeping peacefully.

"Who...who's she?" Naoko asked in a whisper.

"Shokei...could that be..." Rei whispered to her.

"...this girl..." Shokei quietly said. "I...think this is the missing girl...from Egesul."

"How can you tell?" Rei asked. "Does the flyer you have match the description?"

"It does, but...we should wake her up to be sure..." Shokei said, staring at the girl.

"By nudging her from a distance?" Rei asked quietly. "That's risky enough for all of us to fall for a trap."

"Hmmm," Naoko pondered with a thought and said, "My instincts tell me that this being is no threat to us."

"You can tell with just a small process?" Rei asked her quietly. "You must be psychic inside of you."

"Heh, I do not show and tell young one." Naoko said with a wink. "Therefore, you shouldn't be asking."

  "Pfft." Rei brushed her off.

"Look. Let's see if we can get her attention."

Shokei looks down to see a rock near her feet. She picks up the rock and then taps it on the iron cage. The tapping did disrupt the girl's sleep and she wakes up.

"Hey...hey you." Rei calls out to the girl.

"Mmmm..." the girl woke up and she rubbed her eyes from her sleep.

"You there...over here." Rei calls out to her.

Once awake, the girl can see a party of three people standing at her cage.

"W-who are you..." the girl asked them. "H-how did you f-find me?"

Seeing the girl looks nervous to seeing new faces, Shokei takes the lead to communicate.

"Are you...The's twin sister?" Shokei asked her.

"I...why yes, y-yes, I am." The girl admitted.

  "Tanais, right?" Shokei asked.

"H-how did you know my name?" Tanais asked in slight confusion. "A-are you p-people here to s-save me?"

"To put it this way, we know that you were missing thanks to your sister The." Shokei tells her. "She was the one that posted flyers to show the town that you went missing."

"She did?" Tanais asked, blinking a few times. "But...b-but where is my sister? She is not with you."

"She is safe with my other group of friends." Shokei replied. "No need to worry as much as she worries about you."

"O-ok..." Tanais said with a slight relief. "So, she was very worried about m-me... I-I knew I was away for a long time."

"Not really. Your sister said that you were missing for a few weeks." Shokei said.

"I see..." Tanais said and asked. "By the way, who are you guys? I-I forgot to ask you."

"I am Shokei." Shokei introduced herself and her party. "These are my other friends, Rei and Naoko."

"Nice to meet you..." Tanais said. "As I was saying before, I was hoping if you or anyone else was coming to find and save me."

"You seem to be trapped inside this cage." Shokei said to her. "What happened?"

"I ran into some big trouble, and I was caught by an evil-looking sorcerer that captured me inside this monastery." Tanais tells her.

  "Really?" Shokei asked.

  "I'm serious." Tanais replied.

"No need to make stuff up. At least we know you're being honest." Shokei said to her.

"Who captured you? And where can we confront this sorcerer?" Rei asked.

"Actually...I was caught and put into unconsciousness." Tanais said. "Then, I found myself being imprisoned in here. I have been stuck inside this cell for a few days with nothing to eat and water. I feel d-desperate if someone would be able to get me out of here."

"Oh no! That's terrible." Naoko said. "No worries, I have something for you to eat."

Naoko takes out three apples and a bottle of water to Tanais.

"Will this do?" Naoko asked, handing the items to her.

"Th-thanks." Tanais nodded. "After all, my stomach was growling a-and I felt very hungry."

"There has to be a way to free this girl." Rei said. "We cannot have her suffer here."

"It could be found somewhere in this pce." Shokei said. "Maybe that sorcerer has it."

"Not only that..." Tanais brought the party's attention. "T-there has been...o-odd noises coming down those stairs...t-this pce is c-creeping me out..."

"Don't worry. We will get you out of here." Shokei tells her.

Shokei turns to see the staircase leading downstairs to the next floor.

"You'll have to be real patient while we're away." Naoko tells Tanais. "Can you promise me that you'll be ok and wait for us to return?"

"I-I will..." Tanais nodded. "B-but what happens if all of you don't..."

"Death for us won't be necessary." Shokei said. "We will be back for you no matter what."

Shokei turns to Tanais back in her cage.

"I promise you that I will fight for your freedom." Shokei said, looking determined. "You have my word."

Tanais looks at her. Then, she slightly smiled, seeing confidence within Shokei.

"Ok...I hope you come back alive." Tanais said.

Shokei nodded. Then, she heads for downstairs along with Rei and Naoko. The party heads down further into the monastery.

Downstairs into the monastery, Shokei and her party look around to what they see. Ahead of them are five doors. One door is straight up ahead and there are four doors on both sides of the passageway.

"Egads...this pce is quite dark and...creepy..." Naoko said, feeling nervous.

"We didn't come this far to turn around." Shokei said. "We need to keep moving."

"We should check out the rooms if we can find anything." Rei said.

The party makes a move as they enter the first room. The room looks empty and there are spider webs making the room look ancient. Nothing inside, the party heads for the door to the left and unfortunately, the room was empty. The party then checks the other two rooms and there was hardly anything inside except that there is a skeleton corpse that is lying on the ground in one of the rooms.

"Ehh?!" Naoko said, terrified of the corpse.

  "Ancient huh?" Rei asked Naoko.

  "Wait..." Shokei interrupted Rei.

Shokei notices something else on the skeleton. There is a note that is held on the corpse's hand. Shokei walks over to read the note that was in scripted on the paper. She takes the note in hand and walks back to Rei and Naoko.

  "A note?" Naoko said.

"Read it. We need to know what it says." Rei tells Shokei.

"Let's see..." Shokei unveils the note. "...travelers, our prized treasure lies deep within this monastery...wish to find the treasure...solve our riddles...your quest will be over...take care..."

"Let me see that." Rei said to Shokei.

Shokei hands over the note. Rei takes a glimpse of the note and sees the odd handwriting.

"You can READ all of this?" Rei asked, seeing the note. "Who would write a note that sounded gibberish? Where's the sentence structure?"

"Probably someone wrote it in a form of dying words I guess." Naoko said.

"Either way, it seems that finding the treasure here will take time to get us through this." Shokei said.

"I got a question for you two." Naoko said.

Shokei and Rei looked at her.

"This treasure, although its valuable, sounds demanding. What's the purpose?" Naoko asked.

"Uhhh..." Rei wanted to find the words to respond but looks at Shokei.

"All right." Shokei said, responding to the question, made the confession. "I'll tell you. Our purpose into finding the treasure is to escape from a group of bandits called Woundcw. Our own allies are being held captive and we were told by their leader, Cyril, to find the treasure so that we can be freed from her grasp."

Naoko hears this and slightly opened her mouth. She paused and then she turned away to not look at Shokei and Rei for a moment.

"Huh?" Rei said and asked. "Was it...something that we said?"

"N...Naoko?" Shokei said, calling out to her. "Naoko?"

Naoko turns around and takes a rexed breath. Shokei and Rei waits for her to respond.

"It's...its nothing you two." Naoko said. "Hearing that bandit's name...well, it's a long story..."

Shokei and Rei looked at each other. Then, their eyes were back on Naoko.

"Look. The Diamond Light Idol...is that the one those bandits are asking about?" Naoko asked.

"Yes." Shokei replied. She keeps the note in her hand. "We should keep going. I want to know what's behind the other door."

  "Sure." Naoko said.

Shokei and her party head for the door that is in the middle of the passageway. All three of them went inside the room and there, they look around to what they see. There, they can see wooden tables and at least one chair in the room. Also, there are bookshelves inside. The area in the room was very dusty and dirty.

"Wow. Look at this room. It's a maid's nightmare." Naoko said, looking around the room.

"Haunted as it seems, as long as nothing comes out to attack us, we should be fine." Rei said.

"Hmm? What's that?" Shokei asked, seeing what was in front of her.

"Ehhhh what did you find Shokei?" Naoko asked.

In the middle of the room, the party can see a stone tablet in the upper center of the room. Shokei and her party goes up to where the stone table is, and they notice that there is a short message that is being carved into the tablet. Shokei reads what was inscribed on the tablet:

I have strong legs but I can't walk

  I have a strong back but I don't work

I have two good arms but I can't reach or grab

I have a seat but I prefer to stand

"This looks like a riddle." Naoko said and asked. "But what does it mean?"

"It's a clue." Shokei said. "It might have something to do with the room that we are in."

Shokei looks around to see if there is anything in the room that is avaible. The room has one chair, two wooden tables, and old bookshelves on both sides of the wall. Shokei looks back at the note again, looking for any sign of more readied text and reads carefully.

"The riddles that are provided in the stone tablets are clues that can be found inside the room and only that room." Shokei reads the note, which more information is in the back. "Once you solve the secret of the room, shout it out and something bound is to happen."

"In other words, we need to find one particur thing that the riddle is referring to." Rei said.

"Exactly." Shokei said. "This clue for some reason seems very straightforward."

"Strong legs, a strong back, and two good arms..." Naoko said. "Obviously, the answer is very easy to spot it."

The party figured out the clue that was referring to. The answer to the tablet is right in front of them.

"It's a chair!" Shokei calls out the answer in front of the tablet.

Just then, the stone tablet emits a soft glow and suddenly, one of the bookshelves shifts up a little. A sign of movement occurred as the riddle was solved correctly. The party heads over to the bookshelf that budged out and together, they carefully moved the shelf aside. The shelf revealed a hidden door.

  "What's this?" Shokei asked.

"A hidden door..." Rei said. "I'll be..."

Shokei opens the door. Walking inside, there is a lift that looks like an elevator. The center of the elevator has a tablet that's more of a functional switch.

  "What is this?" Naoko asked.

"Looks like a lift." Shokei said, examining the feature. "If you press on the switch in the center, it'll take you up or down like an elevator."

"Ohhh, never seen one." Naoko said.

"It's weird for a monastery to have an elevator installed here..." Rei said. "Perhaps this treasure is kept secretive from outside viewing."

"We'll see where this lift takes us." Shokei said to the party. "Come on."

Shokei and her party stand on the circur lift and Shokei presses the switch with her feet. The lift became activated and then the device takes the party downstairs to the underground. The party stands there, seeing the lift is going deep into the area. Soon, the lift stops completely and in front of them, the party can see a door ahead of them.

Shokei opens the door, and the party goes inside. However, the area is dark and pitch bck, making it hard to see.

"Dammit! It's too dark in here!" Rei compined.

"Allow me you two." Naoko said. "I can clearly see in the dark very well."

"Oh right! You mentioned that to us earlier." Rei said.

"We're going to need a torch to navigate us." Shokei said. "My eyes aren't well with darkness."

"No worries." Naoko said. "Just stay close to me until I find something."

Shokei and Rei followed Naoko closely as they continue their way through the monastery. Naoko feels the walls as she can tell that they are in a passageway. Naoko felt her hand on a solid surface, and she then felt a handle. There was a door on her right.

"I found a door." Naoko calls out to her allies.

"Great, lets walk in." Shokei said.

The party entered through the door. There, Naoko leads the way as she continues further ahead to another door. Walking inside, Naoko can see two wooden tables, several chairs, and candles that are on the tables. Also in the room, Naoko finds a stone tablet to her eyes. Since that it is dark in the room, only Naoko can visibly see the room perfectly with her night vision.

"Say guys, I found another tablet." Naoko tells her allies.

"You did?" Shokei asked. "What does it say?"

"Ok, let's see..." Naoko said, reading the tablet. "Think, I am quick, Fat, I am slow, Wind is my foe."

  "That's it?" Shokei asked.

"That's what the tablet reads." Naoko said.

"This sounds tricky." Shokei said, thinking over the riddle.

"I'm stumped. There is no way that this riddle is worth solving." Rei said.

"No, you're wrong." Shokei said to her. "It can be solved if we talk it out."

  Rei sighed.

"Now, about that riddle..." Shokei said, rethinking over the clue. "The words "Fat" and "Wind" come to my attention."

"I'm sure it has meaning." Naoko said. "I'm sure thinking about those words could lead on to something."

Shokei and her party thinks about the clue for a minute. Then, Shokei breaks the ice.

"Ok, I think I am on to something." Shokei said. "When it meant something "Fat", it sounds like something big. The word "Wind" could rete to the clue in which something big can end instantly."

"Probably it's a sign of light." Rei said, thinking on the clue. "Well, hell enough, I wish we can have light in this room. I can't see much around here."

"Rei, you're on to something!" Shokei said, finally figuring out the riddle.

"I am?" Rei asked. "I wish there was some damn light in this room."

"Hey! You just said it!" Shokei pointed out to her.

  "Really? What's "it"?" Rei asked.

"You said light." Shokei tells her. "When you have light that's big, a heavy wind would instantly make that light disappear."

"Just like a candle." Rei said.

"Yes! A candle!" Shokei said, solving the clue.

Suddenly, one of the candles that is on the table lights up. The candle became clear enough for the party to see in the room. The party can see that light is surrounding. The room with brightness. With the candle lit, everyone can now see each other.

"Finally, there's light!" Rei said, happily.

"Goodness." Shokei said. "I thought we can never get out of the dark."

"Good job you two." Naoko said with a smile.

"At least we can see what's inside." Shokei said. "Now we need to find a source to make the light bigger."

"Hmm..." Rei looks around until she finds a torch on the floor. "Yes!"

"What did you find?" Naoko asked.

"Here we are." Rei said, picking up the torch in her hand.

"Great...but can it be usable?" Shokei asked.

Rei checks the condition of the torch.

"This torch has not been used." Rei replied. "We're good."

"Awesome!" Shokei said. "We can finally go through this pce now."

With the torch lit, Shokei and her party leave the room. Naoko brings the lighted candle just in case the party needed more light to see better. Shokei holds the torch in her hand and gets a good look in the underground. She can see that the flooring appears to be marble, and the walls are tan and badge coloring.

"Who would have thought that a monastery would have an underground pce?" Shokei asked.

"I guess it's much bigger on the inside than viewing the pce from outside." Naoko said.

"Whatever it is, we need to find what we're looking for and get us out of here." Shokei said.

Shokei and her party walks through the passageway and head to a section. The section that they arrive have three doors, one in each corner. Shokei sees the doors and she is deciding what door she should go for.

"Let's try this one." Shokei said, heading for the door on her right. She goes for the door to open it.

  "Locked." Shokei said.

"How about that door?" Rei said, looking at the door on her left.

"Hmm..." Shokei walks over and tries to open the door. "Nope. This one is locked as well."

  "Then, that means..."

Shokei heads for the door in the center. The door appears to be unlocked and gained entry to the other side. Inside the room lies another stone tablet that is in the middle of the room. The party walks over to read the carving into the tablet.

He who makes me doesn't need me

He who buys me doesn't want me

He who uses me doesn't feel me

"Hehe, this riddle is funny." Naoko said, giggling.

"You mean the way how its read?" Rei asked her.

  "I don't know, but...tee hee, it's amusing." Naoko replied.

"This clue seems weird..." Shokei said. "There must be a meaning of this riddle that has to do with this room."

Shokei, holding her torch, checks the room out. The room has lying corpses of skeletons and spider webs.

"Ewww, more webs." Naoko said, creeped out.

"I hate bugs." Shokei tells her. "In fact, bugs are creepier to me. I hope we solve what this room consist of."

"What's that over there?" Rei pointed out.

Shokei turns and sees that there is a coffin in the corner.

"A coffin." Shokei said to herself. "I'm curious what the word 'doesn't' have to do with this riddle?"

Shokei rethinks about this and walks back to read the tablet again.

"I'm thinking that this riddle is reted to the dead." Naoko said. "A dead person does not feel itself being inside something in a pce where they can't feel confined in."

"Hmm, makes sense." Shokei said, checking back on the coffin. "Ok. Hey tablet thingy, it's a coffin, right?"

The tablet emits a soft glow again. This time they can hear a tch, indicating that there is a door being unlocked in this room. Shokei walks up to inspect the door and opens it. From there, the party continues further down another passageway until they arrived at the next area.

Walking through the doorway, Shokei and her party look around and finds themselves in a wide spaced room. There was nothing else in sight except for a stone tablet that is found further down.

"Amazing...I never thought a monastery had a room this big..." Naoko said, hearing her voice echoing.

Shokei looks down to read the next tablet.

  You heard me before

  Yet you hear me again

  Then I die

  'Till you call me again

From reading the clue, Shokei looks among Rei and Naoko to discuss.

"This clue does not sound hard at all." Naoko said, scratching her head. "I am thinking the keyword to this is sound."

"True." Shokei said. "It's sounds like we're talking of an echo in here."

  "Yep. Case closed." Rei said.

"All right then." Shokei said and looks back at the tablet. "It's an echo."

By saying the answer out loud, the tablet emits another glow.

Just then, Shokei and her party can hear something in the room. The three of them turn around to see that there is an aura glowing in the center of the room. Staring at the aura, a form of unknown forces is emerging from the swirling aura. The nature of the aura is dark purple. Coming out of the aura are two wolf-like creatures jumping out from the aura and both wolves are growling with their teeth. Both wolves have bright red eyes, shining. These wolf-like creatures have long necks and protruding, serpentine heads. Their bodies look smooth and inky bck and have hard scales. The appearance of these monsters looks dangerous, and both are anthropomorphic types with long sharp cws.

"Woah!" Naoko said, surprised by the appearance of monsters.

"G'dammit! It's a trap!!" Rei said, gearing herself with her fists.

"What kind of creatures are they?" Naoko asked.

"Hmm?" Shokei checks the tablet and sees words engraved into the stone on the back. "...Dothmur?"

"Dothmur? Whose Dothmur?" Naoko asked, slightly confused.

"Dothmurs, Eminence of Fangs." Shokei read the words from the tablet.

"You mean they're both Dothmurs?!" Rei asked. "You're kidding me, right?!"

"Not kidding." Shokei said, putting the tablet down and takes her sword out. "We'll have to fight it out to survive here."

The Dothmurs roared as the party gets ready to fight them. Then, Shokei leads as she takes off to fight the monsters as Rei and Naoko followed from behind.

Shokei faces off against one of the wolves and the Red Dothmur takes its first attack against her. Shokei defends herself by rolling out of harm's way from the enemy's attack and tries to target the monster's long legs. The monster dodged the attack allowing Naoko to make her move by pulling off a somersault and spins attack the Dothmur with her body. The Dothmur takes a step back from the impact and kept its footing as Naoko nds safely on her feet. Rei comes by and rushes at the Dothmur by using her fist to ram into the gut of the monster. Then, she quickly made a roundhouse kick toward the monster by sending the monster back.

The second Dothmur, which its skin is Blue, helps with the battle. The monster preyed on Shokei and goes after her. Shokei sees the monster coming towards her and she tries to strike the monster. She swings her sword at the Dothmur's leg, and the tip of her sword sshed through the skin. The monster reacted by striking back with its cws. Shokei takes the hit as she is being sent back from the monster's attack.

"Arrrgh!!" Shokei cried out in pain.

"Shokei!!" Naoko called out to her.

Naoko goes over to help Shokei, but then she too felt body smmed by the Red Dothmur through getting tackled. Rei can see that her allies are down and the Dothmurs are coming up towards her. Rei gets ready to take on both monsters.

The two Dothmurs went after Rei by swiping her with their cws. Rei quickly rolls out of the way and tumbles underneath through one of the wolf-like creatures. Then, she rebounds and jump kicks one of the monsters from behind with a hard hit. The Red Dothmur felt the impact of the kick as the monster was being sent back to the ground, taking the damage. The Blue Dothmur turns and charges at Rei.

"Sacred Bde Dance!" Rei called out.

Using her skills, Rei pulls off an aerial two-way kick assault against the Blue Dothmur. Then, adding an uppercut through the monster's chest and then sucker punched the Dothmur right in the face. The Blue Dothmur takes the damage, but roars through the pain and immediately fights back against her.

While Rei keeps one of the Dothmur busy, Shokei and Naoko recovers and then they see the Red Dothmur is heading towards them. Both girls team up to fight against the monster as Shokei quickly used her sword to ssh at the monster's chest. The Red Dothmur takes the damage as Naoko makes her turn to handle the wolf-like monster.

"Time to put you out of your own misery!" Naoko said, pumped up for energy.

Naok uses her time to build up her energy for a minute. After consuming much energy inside, she charged right towards the Red Dothmur. Focusing her attack on the monster's long leg, she used her palms and deliver a critical blow on the leg. The Red Dothmur cries out in pain as it staggers and takes itself down by one knee. Naoko makes a swift martial turnover around the monster as she gives another powerful palm attack on the enemy, hitting the monster directly on the side of its waist. The waist made a crack sound as soon as the monster feels its hip bone broken and then Red Dothmur cried out loudly in more pain. Naoko did one final swift movement again by turning herself with her legs and feet and spins around to position the final target on the monster's body parts. She goes straight towards the enemy's arms and used all of her strength to bash through the monster's arm. The bash made a fracture inside the enemy and the Dothmur took critical damage.

"There, that should do it!" Naoko said as she is satisfied with the result.

"Great! Allow me!" Shokei said to Naoko.

Shokei takes advantage and builds up energy from her sword. The sword's strength reached to maximum and then she charges at the injured Red Dothmur. Shokei quickly sshes her way through the monster numerous times. Then, she jumps up and then goes in for the kill by penetrating into the skull of the wolf's head. The Red Dothmur instantly died right after the final strike has been dealt with and Shokei takes her sword out of the skull, making one of the monsters fall dead to the ground.

"That should do it." Shokei said, looking down on the Dothmur that she successfully sin.

"But your friend can use some help." Naoko said, seeing Rei in trouble. "We have to kill the other one!"

Rei and the Blue Dothmur are still fighting it out as they exchange attacks against one another. Rei does her best to survive, but she kept evading from the monster's attacks.

"Dammit!" Rei cursed from her breath. "This beast is tough!"

Suddenly, the Blue Dothmur made an unexpected move by lifting its feet off the ground to do a backflip kick against Rei. The hit was successful as Rei was struck by the attack, sending her back to the ground. Shokei and Naoko saw her getting hurt and they rush to her aid.

"Rei!" Shokei said, confronting her ally. "Are you all right?!"

"Ughhhh..." Rei wipes the blood off her mouth and said, "Tch, not well..."

"C'mon!" Shokei said to her. "We defeated one of the wolf creatures. We got to be in this together. Just don't die on me, please!"

"...got it..." Rei said, rising from the ground despite the pain that was struck to her back.

  "Let's do this!" Naoko said.

Regrouping back as one, Shokei and her party goes after the Blue Dothmur. The wolf creature sees them coming and then make its move by flipping up to the ceiling and sticks itself on top with its cws.

"What the?!" Rei looks up in surprise.

"Are you kidding me?!" Shokei, also said in surprise. "This bastard can climb on the ceilings?"

  "Impossible!" Naoko said.

The party can see that the enemy did something unusual as the Dothmur can stick on the walls with its cws, like a spider. The Dothmur crawls fast all the way to the entrance of the room. Shokei and her party keeps up with the monster, but then the Dothmur jumps down from the ceiling and turns around to make a charging swipe attack. The party can see the attack coming towards them and they made a direct leap before the cws could hit any one of them.

Avoiding the monster's attack, the party then proceed to attack the Dothmur. Shokei rushes after the monster by making a leap in the air to strike with her sword. The monster quickly sees her rushing in on the attack and knocks her straight back down to the floor. Naoko rushes up to the monster and leaps over its head to get behind. She grabbed the Dothmur by its head, gripping it tightly and then tilts herself down with her strength as if she is about to throw the enemy.

"Time for my Divine Lock Pounce of the Cat!" Naoko said.

Naoko pulls off another hidden technique and turns herself into a big crystal ball, along with imprisoning the Dothmur. Taking control, Naoko takes the monster by throwing herself around the area. She bounces off through the walls and off the floors and ceilings as she takes the enemy for a unpleasant ride. Shokei and Rei stood clear as they are watching out for the rolling crystal ball.

"G'damn!" Rei said, amazing to what she sees. "How the hell did she do that?"

"I'm asking the same thing too." Shokei tells her. "This girl...that power...this is incredible."

The ball bounces until it slowly comes to a complete halt. The ball stops as Naoko is emerging out of her special technique. The Blue Dothmur also emerges and then falls to the floor. Its body felt paralyzed and seriously damaged. The monster looks destroyed as it lies dead on the floor. Shokei has her sword ready in case the monster recovers from the effects of Naoko's techniques. Fortunately, she did not have to do much as the Blue Dothmur takes its st breath. Then, the body of the monster turns into dust and vanishes into air.

After the fight with the Twin Dothmurs, Shokei looks at the spot to where the monster died. There, she sees a strange aura that is swirling around, and she walks over to inspect. The swirling died down and there she finds...

"A key." Shokei said, picking up the key. "Hmm...it's just a regur key."

"Really?" Rei asked. "For a minute, I was curious how are we going to explore more around this pce with those doors locked?"

"Perhaps those wild beasts held the key here." Shokei said. "With this key, we can get around more of this pce."

Taking the key in hand, Shokei and her party leaves the room.

The party returns to the center where there are two locked doors on both ends. Shokei decides to open the door on her left using the key she acquired. Inserting the key and turning the handle, the door became unlocked.

  "Yes!" Shokei said. "It worked."

"Great! Let's keep going." Rei said.

The door is unlocked, and the party went inside the room. They have to walk through another passageway and head straight down to see where the passageway leads them to.

"This whole pce is like a maze here." Naoko said.

"Then again, this pce sure does have secrets." Rei said to her.

"Huh?" Shokei looks to see that there is a wall in front of her. "A dead end?"

  "Can't be." Rei said.

"Perhaps there must be a hidden wall here." Naoko said.

Shokei sees the walls and presses the one in front. With one touch, the wall in front of her disappears.

"Well, what do you know?" Naoko said, seeing that she guessed correctly. "Looks like a hidden wall after all."

"It is." Shokei said. "Let's continue."

The party passes through the hidden wall and there, they turn to a corner to see another door straight ahead. Shokei goes up to the door and finds that its opened. The party enters inside the room.

Entering the room, the party can see that the room feels cold and has a hard surface. The walks are dusky blue with a border of blue along in the middle. The room appears to be big, with a wide space, and its horizontal.

"Another room..." Naoko said. "But it's dark and empty."

"Not quite." Rei said to her, using the candle to look further. "I see another one of these tablets."

  "Where?" Shokei asked.

"Here." Rei said as she finds the tablet on the floor, next to her foot.

  "That fast?" Shokei asked.

"Hey. I just saw it here." Rei replied. "It's another one of those riddles."

  "What it says?" Naoko asked.

Shokei receives the tablet in her hand and reads what's inscribed:

In daytime I lie pooled about

At night I cloaks like a mist

I creep inside shut boxes and,

  Inside your tightened first.

You see me best when you can't see

  For I do not exist

"Man, this riddle's confusing..." Rei said, after reading the riddle from the tablet. "What does it mean?"

"Hmm..." Shokei thinks to herself and re-read the riddle again. "I think I can get some sense out of this riddle."

  "You can?" Naoko asked. "Eborate!"

"The meaning of day and night has to do something that corresponds with the clue." Shokei expined. "I can understand the boxes being shut, but a tightened fist...I'm not so sure about that one. The st part here has to do with being cloaked in darkness..."

"Problem solved." Rei interrupts her. "Then the answer must be darkness."

  "Shokei!"

Solving the riddle, Shokei looks to see that the tablet gave off a soft glow. Suddenly, the party can hear a "poof" sound in the room. Then, the party can see that there are fifty treasure boxes that are in the room. The party looks around to see that these are just regur, wooden treasure boxes.

"Woah!" Naoko said, surprised to see the many treasure boxes that are in the room. "I...I think we hit the jackpot girls!"

"Let's...let's not think about the word 'jackpot' yet." Rei said to her. "I doubt a monastery would have anything of valuable here."

Shokei looks around to see the treasure boxes. The boxes are lined up and are separated apart. There are about five treasure boxes in each row, totaling up to exactly fifty treasure boxes that are in the room. Rei noticed that one of the boxes looks different from the others, with a shade of color. She goes over to open the box.

"Rei, what did you find?" Shokei asked.

"What's this?" Rei said and took out an item from the box. "It's a note."

"Anything written on it?" Naoko asked.

Rei opens the note and then reads it to the party.

"Let's see..." Rei said, looking into the note. "it says here: You are now in the monastery's secret treasure room. If you are looking for something of importance within this room, find the clues that are inside in these treasure boxes. Remember, only the clues will lead you into what you are seeking, nothing else..."

  "Interesting." Shokei said.

"So, the note's telling us that we should look through all these boxes just to make us lead into what we are looking for. That sounds ridiculous." Rei compined.

"What if this note was a myth?" Naoko asked. "I don't know if this note appears to be suspicious, but I could be wrong though."

"This note does look ancient." Shokei said, seeing the note in Rei's hand. "Whatever it is, we just need to search around theses boxes while we're at it."

The party then went to work on opening the treasure boxes. The girls split up to open one treasure box at a time. What the party didn't know that there were colors indicating how close they are really far into finding a particur item. The only colors that they were able to see are red and blue and the colored boxes resemble more of a hot and cold situation. The messages that they looked into have directions leading them to a directional path, via coordinates, to where they can follow to open another box.

In some of the boxes that Shokei, Rei, and Naoko have opened, there were messages that state "Try Again" and the message can either direct them to follow a certain direction or return back to a previous treasure box that was opened already.

"Not this one..." Shokei said, after opening up another treasure box that was empty, but the clue that she read stated, "Make one left..."

Shokei continues to open more boxes that are near her on the other side of the room. Right now, she is close to finding some way through the treasure box mystery after falling for those "Try again" messages. She proceeds to the the next treasure box and opens it. The note then appeared red as soon as she opened it.

"Eh..." Shokei takes the note and reads it. "Move in the same direction all the way to the end and seek to what you desire to seek."

Shokei follows the clue to that note and continues going left. She follows the note exactly as it was told, and she skipped three boxes until she goes for the one that's located on the end. Arriving at the treasure box, she opens it to see what was inside. There she finds an item.

"Another key..." Shokei said, taking the key out of the box. The size of the key appeared to be small. "Hmm, it's like a prison key."

"Shokei, did you find anything?" Rei called out to her.

  "It's a key." Shokei replied.

"That's it? What about the other boxes that you looked through?" Rei asked her.

"There was nothing but notes in each box." Shokei replied.

"I couldn't find anything on my side of the room." Naoko said, returning to Shokei.

"Same." Rei said, regrouping with Shokei. She sees the key in Shokei's hand. "Hmm, it sure does look like a prison key."

"That's what I was thinking." Shokei said, looking at it.

"All this time we were searching in these boxes here and there and it was just for ONE key?" Naoko said in disappointment. "Waste of time!"

"No, that's wrong!" Shokei said to her. "I think this key...this key might be all what we need to free The's sister."

"You could be right." Rei said, seeing the key. "This is the key we need to bail Tanais out."

"We should head back. She's probably wondering what is taking us long." Shokei said.

"Right." Naoko said with a nod.

Just as Shokei was about to head for the exit, someone was watching the party from inside. The person that was peeking out from the door quickly closed the door.

  "Who was that?!" Shokei gasped.

"What? What is it?" Naoko asked.

"Somebody was watching us while we were in here." Shokei said. Then, she rushed up to track down the intruder. "Hey, get back here!"

"Shokei, wait up!" Rei called out to her, and she and Naoko followed behind.

The party goes through the underground and trace back to where they have walked to. Shokei was quick enough to go all the way back upstairs to find the unknown intruder that spied on them. When the party returned from the entrance, the intruder was nowhere to be seen. All they can see is Tanais in her cell.

  "Damn!" Shokei said, pissed.

"Are you seeing things, Shokei?" Rei asked her.

"I thought I did." Shokei replied to her. "I thought I saw someone stalking us and it got away."

"Ummm..." Tanais tries to get the party her attention. "I'm over here."

"Huh?" Shokei sees Tanais in her cell. "Ok, since were here, let's free The's sister while were at it."

"Hold on a sec." Rei stops her and asked. "What about the treasure that we were supposed to look for?"

"Who knows?" Shokei said with a shrug. "Besides, how in the hell are we supposed to find that thing if those Woundcw bastards are desperate for such priceless treasure?"

"Beats me." Rei responded. "If I remember, there was a door we did not check yet, remember? That door may lead to something we haven't even checked yet."

"We'll get to it ter." Shokei said, going over to Tanais in her cell. "Now then, it's time to bust you out of there."

  "Ehhhhh..." Tanais looked scared.

"What's wrong?" Shokei asked. "Why are you scared all of a sudden?"

"Ummm, Shokei?" Naoko turned around and called out to her.

  "What is it...huh?"

Shokei and her party turn around to see that there is someone blocking the entrance to the monastery. All of them can see a strange being with grey hair and wears a kimono-loli type dress. Shokei became alert and then confronts the unknown figure.

"...who...who are you?" Shokei asked with a serious tone.

"Hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmm, hmmm..." The figure grinned to itself.

"Who are you?" Shokei asked again.

"Who am I, you ask?" the figure speaks and reveals itself from the shadows. "I am a sorcerer of the Necromutants of Chaos. Call me Hauntmystic."

"Hauntmystic?" Shokei asked, hearing the name for the first time.

"Yes, Emissary of Light." Hauntmystic said to her. "I know that I have seen you before."

"I never did...I am seeing you for the first time." Shokei said.

"Really? You don't remember at all do you Emissary?" Hauntmystic asked. "In fact, if you were curious about the fire incident back at Itaea, then how will you recall the moment that you fell for my hallucination trap? I was the one that made you weak my dear."

"Wait a minute!" Shokei blinks, recalling what happened back at Itaea, and said, "You're the one that caused me to freak out in front of my party!" Her mood turned angry. "Not only that, but a child's life was also on the line. And you have a lot of nerve to put me in a vile spell to stop me from escaping the fmes alive!"

"Tee hee hee hee heeee..." Hauntmystic giggled.

"You bastard!" Shokei shouted at the Necromutant. "You're going to regret for having me suffer from that dangerous situation you put me through!!"

Shokei walks to the center of the room and unsheathes her sword, ready to act.

"Tsk, Tsk, Tsk." Hauntmystic giggled and shakes her head. "You really are foolish Emissary. You have no idea how capable my powers are. On top of what my inmate said, I was the one that locked her up in there. And what do I see? Three little girls, trying to come to her aid. I'm sure you're aware of the consequences that they will deserve for trespassing this pce."

"The hell with you!" Shokei shouted at her. "Even if you have to lock her up in such a small cage, I cannot allow a cruel act upon someone's life. Don't think that you can end me that easily."

"Hmmmph! You think you're tough, but I know that you aren't, human!" Hauntmystic tells her. "You don't have the guts nor the skill to handle my own powers. Just for that, I will not let you your little friends go any further into saving that child and I would be honored to stop you by my own will."

Rei goes over to where Shokei is standing and be confronted by the enemy.

"I don't know who the hell you are, but whatever beef you got against us, just bring it!!" Rei tells the Necromutant. She joins in and is looking for a fight.

"Bring it?" Risako said with a sarcastic tone. "Why yes, it's nice for you to drop by to ruin my mood...then again, if you have to be an idiot, it doesn't matter. In fact, I do like to share a favor in destroying all of you easily."

Hauntmystic then takes out a card. The card has a sigil on it. Shokei, Rei, and Naoko can see that the Necromutant is performing a summon, like another Necromutant that also did the same thing, who was Bck Death. Hauntmystic throws the card in the air and then the card automatically positions in front of her vertically. Then, she extends out her palm and casts the spell on the card, summoning another demonic spirit.

"I call upon the powers of the Dark Dreams Gaxy," Hauntmystic chanted. "Give this monster strength and beyond power and defeat those who defy against us! I summon you Abaddon "The Destroyer!!"

The card transforms into a warrior-type monster with a suit of heavy armor and the monster holds a strange dark-type sword, that's long in length and the bde is all covered in darkness. The monster also has wings on its back.

"What the hell is that?!" Rei asked, stepping back.

"No way...that sword its holding...this is a nightmare." Shokei said, eyes widened as she looks up at the monster.

"Holy cow! This is t-too r-real..." Naoko said, feeling scared but amazed to what she sees.

Shokei and her party stares up at Abaddon. The demonic monster lets out a war cry as it echoes the entire monastery. Tanais closed her eyes shut and closed off her ears as the sound of the monster's call frightened her.

"Ha ha ha ha ha! Now, you'll feel the wraith of my power. Everything you thought about me will definitely change your lives forever!" Hauntmystic shouts out to them. "Abaddon! Take strength and destroy these cockroaches!"

Through Hauntmystic's command, the Abaddon flies straight after them. Shokei and her party got themselves prepared for battle against another one of the Necromutant's creations. Before the party did anything, the Abaddon made its first move by using a pgue attack, casting locusts on the party.

  "Oh shit!!" Rei shouted. "LOCUSTS!!"

"Dammit!! We need to step outside while we can!!" Shokei yelled out to her party.

"SHOKEI!!!" Tanais called out in her cell, still has her eyes closed while hearing the locusts flying. "COME BACK!!"

Shokei and her party quickly made a run for it, leaving the monastery as fast as possible. Hauntmystic watches them as they take off into the forest.

"After them Destroyer! AFTER THEM!!" Hauntmystic commanded the demon.

Abaddon did and flies out of the monastery, hunting down its preys.

Shokei and her party are being chased by a swarm of flying locusts. This creeped out all three of them as they split up to avoid being attacked by the locusts that Abaddon has spread out. They are running through the woods not to get stung by the flying insects. Shokei, Rei, and Naoko are panicking as they are being chased by the locusts whereas Abaddon is flying with speed through the forest, searching and hunting down Shokei and her allies. Soon, Abaddon came across one often and swoops down to attack Rei, who was running away from the locusts.

Rei tries to run as fast as she can to get away from the locusts. She panics as her fear of bugs are trying to come after her. She looks behind to see about hundreds of flying insects aiming directly at her. Then, Rei looks up to see Abaddon is right there, with its demonic sword and Rei quickly makes a jump for it by avoiding the enemy's sword. She leaps into the air and reaches for one of the tree branches and makes another huge jump away from the locusts and from Abaddon. The demon, however, sees her getting away and flies up in the air to distract her from her attempt to escape by making a swift kick, knocking her back to the ground. Rei was sent to the ground from the hit. As she tries to recover, she can hear the presence of the locusts coming towards her.

"Ahhhhhhh!!!" Rei shrieked out loud, defenseless. "EEK! AHHH SHIT!!! AHHHHH!!! GET IT AWAY, GET IT AWAY!!! NOOOOOO!!! SHOKEI, NAOKO, HELP MEEEEE!!!"

Shokei and Naoko can hear Rei screaming out loud enough for them to hear.

"Rei! She's in trouble!!" Both said together.

Shokei and Naoko head to the direction to where the screams are coming from and they found Rei, being stung by the locusts. The locusts were all over her body and Rei continues to fight them off.

  "SOMEBODY HELP MEEEEEE!!!" Rei yelled.

"We're coming Rei! Hang in there!" Shokei shouted out to her.

Abaddon views at the scene to see its locusts doing its work whereas Hauntmystic is amused to see one of her nemeses is fearing the flying insects.

"Good, good!" The Necromutant said in a pleasing tone and commanded. "Now's your chance Destroyer! Finish her!"

Abaddon did so and takes his sword and made a downward thrust position. He swoops down to his target, hoping to go for a kill. Quickly, Shokei and Naoko made it in time to save Rei from being trapped by the locusts. They are not aware of the danger that Rei is about to be dealt with and there was no time to waste. Naoko takes a somersault spin and swoops down to take Rei away from the locusts. In time, Abaddon's sword strikes down, missing his target. Shokei takes a step back to see Abaddon's sword penetrating in the ground.

"Woah, that was close." Shokei said with a surprised look.

Naoko takes Rei to safety, and she pces her and herself to a safe spot, far away from the locusts. Hauntmystic can see that Naoko had rescued Rei from the locusts. The locusts that were swarming around the center disappeared, once Hauntmystic makes it vanished with a simple snap. Then, looking down, the Necromutant can see Shokei watching her, along with Abaddon, and she can see Rei and Naoko on top of a thick tree branch.

"GRR! Don't just idle there! KILL THEM!!" Hauntmystic ordered the demon.

The Abaddon makes his move by gripping his sword and targeting Shokei down below. Shokei looks up to see the enemy coming towards her and she quickly defends herself by unveiling a new sword in her hand, the Mithrodin. The sword made connections with the enemy's weapon by causing force between them and this motion has pulled Shokei away from the enemy by taking a few steps back.

"Woah!!" Shokei said, feeling the grip of the sword she received from Beltine. "This sword...what strength..."

Immediately, Shokei regained her bance and then fights it out against Abaddon. Naoko watches to see Shokei dueling against the demon.

"Are you all right?" Naoko asked Rei, checking on her.

"I'm...I'm fine..." Rei said, speaking calmly. "...I just need to get over myself."

"You do that then. I'm going to help Shokei on this one." Naoko said. She goes down from the branch to help out Shokei. Rei comes down from the tree, after recovering from her fear from the locusts.

Shokei takes caution by the Abaddon's sword as she sees the demon swings her sword at her. Standing by near a tree, Shokei dodges the enemies attack by avoiding the sword. The big sword instantly cuts down one of the trees. The tree falls as Shokei makes a run for it and gets away from the crash safely.

"Hey!" Rei gets the demon's attention, throwing a rock at the enemy. "Over here!"

Naoko and Rei are trying to show the demon some attention by throwing rocks. The Abaddon feels the rocks from behind and turns to see them. The demon takes his sword and swings it downward. The attack missed as Naoko and Rei quickly moved out of the way as the sword caused a wavy impact towards another tree.

Shokei grips her Mithrodin sword as she takes her time to find a way to strike back against The Abaddon. The demon is taking his time by slowly walking to where she is moving in a defensive position. Naoko gets her weapons out, which are two tonfa iron bdes, wielding both as she focuses on the demon. Then, Naoko makes a move by running towards the Abaddon and tries to make an attack. The Abaddon turns to see that he was about to be struck and then counters with his sword against Naoko. Naoko sees the offense and flips out of harm's way. Then, she quickly nds and dashes to strike the monster with her tonfa bde, which is the Sshwing, and targets the leg armor. The Abaddon counters by dodging from her attack and kicks her. Naoko takes damage as she is being sent back from the enemy and hits a tree that is a short distance nearby.

Rei can see The Abaddon at her distance. She sees that Naoko is in pain from being sent to the tree and the demon continues to attack Shokei. Shokei rolls out of the way as she moves sidesteps to exchange her attacks against the demon.

There has got to be a way to defeat this demon...but how? Rei thought to herself.

Shokei takes caution into handling the enemy by paying attention to the demon's actions and movements while dueling. The armored demon continues to strike downward with his sword against Shokei, followed by a forward thrust. The attacks are a miss as Shokei successfully avoids them. Rei looks at Shokei and sees her struggling in the fight as she can tell she cannot hold her footing much longer.

I got it! Rei thought to herself, finding a solution. There's at least one technique I bet this demon can't stand. Not sure if this would work, but using whatever energy I got within me, this could be the only chance that I got.

Having thought of this, Rei takes her time to concentrate on her powers and meditate. Through meditating, she has to focus as soon as possible while she quickly builds up chakra, preparing enough energy to develop a powerful ability. While Rei focuses on her energy, Hauntmystic takes notice and watches Rei doing this while she spectates the fight. Naoko recovers from the attack that The Abaddon done to her and as she gets up, she can see Rei building up energy inside of her and then a swirling aura effect comes around her presence.

"I...wonder what this is all about?" Naoko asked herself.

Just then, Naoko looks around to see the tree are shaking and the clouds are becoming dark and cloudy. She looks back at Rei and there she can see her generating something within her power. Naoko moves out of the way in case of anything. Rei can feel enough energy as she finally maximized her chakra and is already prepared for her powerful attack towards the enemy.

By the gods that brought me light, to the whimsy of where the wind blows...eliminate my foes who are no match for my true divine power...

Rei speaks through her mind as her thoughts are gifting her with power. The winds swirl around her as it is about to be turned into a storm-type hurricane. Naoko and Shokei watch as Rei did this. She looks to see the whirlwind developing further around her, along with sharp objects and she can see the wind has developed into sharp bdes in the process. Rei can feel the ultimate power coming in her and she's fully charged up into performing her attack.

  "...GULF STREAM!!"

Unleashing her ultimate attack, Rei sends out her tornado towards The Abaddon. The tornado is a big, gusty wind, swirling at a high speed of 360 turbulence. The tornado rips through the grounds and cutting through the trees. Shokei can see Rei's ultimate move being put into effect and she quickly gets out of the way. The Abaddon sees the attack coming, but it was already too te to escape the special technique. The sharp wind bdes in the tornado are combusting major damage into The Abaddon. The enemy's armor is tearing through, taking heavy damage. The sharp bdes also ripped through one of the enemy's wings. The demon cries out in pain as soon as it became trapped in the dangerous tornado. The ferocious winds pierce through its skin, making some cuts into its body. The damaging winds did its work as Shokei and Naoko can see that the monster is being torn apart by the winds and succumbs to its death. The demon made its st cry out in pain as its blood gushes through the tornado. However, the blood circutes inside the tornado, keeping the blood borne pathogens in pce. The tornado then went into the air as it heads to the clouds. The clouds opened as the blood of the monster's corpse is being escorted into the skies. Once the clouds have been sealed, the skies then came back to normal. Rei can see that her ultimate attack did its work and she smiled as she has defeated Abaddon "The Destroyer."

"Woooooow!!" Naoko said in a surprised tone. "That was sick!"

"Rei...defeated this vile thing..." Shokei said, blinking after seeing the dead monster being sent in the air. "I...am amazed."

Hauntmystic saw the result of her creation being dismembered by the deadly winds and looks furious. Then, she flies over to see Shokei and her party from above.

"Consider yourselves lucky that my demon got sughtered by the hands of that ally of yours!" Hauntmystic said angrily, clenching a fist. "Where the hell you get that power little girl?!"

"Oh. You're asking for a serious beat down. Are you?" Rei asked her in a warning.

"No matter! Mark my words, Emissary of Light, that I will have to deal with you and your pals the next time we meet!!" Hauntmystic said to her.

The Necromutant vanishes from the scene. Shokei stares at the sky where Hauntmystic have fled.

  "She's a weirdo." Naoko said.

"And I thought she was just a joke to me..." Rei said.

"By the way, who are these 'Necromutants' anyway?" Naoko asked with curiousity. "Where does she come from? And are they trying to threaten our world?"

"We'll fill you in on this ter." Shokei tell her. "Right now, Tanais is wondering what happened to us. We need to return back to her."

"Yes." Rei said. "Let's bail her out."

Shokei and her party hurries back to the monastery to return back to Tanais.
