Chapter 34

Back at Egesul, Shokei and her party are in the Mayor's Office. Kerru the Mayor looks at the bag where all the stolen items are being put in.

"I am proud to see the effort that you all have done for us." Kerru said to them. "I have no clue as it how you all did it, but I am pleased to see that the items have been returned and I see that the special artifact has also been brought back."

  "Thank you, sir." Shokei said.

"My guards will take care of the items that belong to the people of this town." Kerru said. "And speaking of that, I see that the missing girl has been found. What about those thieving bandits? Were you able to handle them?"

"We sure did." Shokei nodded. "They won't be causing any more trouble with your town."

"We taught those bullies a lesson!" The said.

"Hehehe! Gd to hear that." The mayor said with a smile. "I am happy to give you and your group of allies a reward of 20,000 Bronnar for your efforts."

"Woah!" the party made a reaction of what they hear.

"Seriously?" Shokei asked with her eyebrows wide.

  "Of course!" Kerru replied.

"Wow...I, I don't know what to say." Shokei said, feeling speechless.

"Hey, you all deserve the reward, didn't you?" Kerru asked.

"Sure, we did..." Shokei said but looks at the twin sisters. "However..."

  "Hmm?" Kerru listened.

"I believe that these two deserved it." Shokei said to them. "After learning from the young one's backstory, I realize that the money is more important for them to live on with their lives."

"Re-really?!" Tanais asked, surprised to hear Shokei's reaction.

"One thing I understand is that you two don't have anyone to take care of you right?" Shokei asked them.

"Why...yes." The replied. "How did you know?"

"Your sister brought that up when we found her." Shokei responded.

"Aha! I see." The said with understanding.

"Hmm, you two are in need of a home, don't you?" Kerru asked.

"We are sir." The replied. "We are orphans. We lost our guardian who took care of us. We have been living in a shelter together and surviving the streets as it is."

  "Awww..." Marie said sadly.

"That's terrible." Saeko shakes her head.

"Hmm...this is quite interesting." Kerru said.

"I believe that the reward should go to them." Shokei said. "I know that they are in need of a home along with some wealth to keep them living life."

Kerru listens to this and thinks for a moment. Seeing how the twin sisters are, he nodded and knows what to do.

"I will be gd to have them as custody." Kerru said in response.

"Huh?!" The and Tanais said in surprise.

"I know that you two are in need of a home." Kerru said. "Knowing that you need food and shelter, I can help you with that. I have a home that you two can stay in. I'm sure that I have to inform my partner about this. She'll understand my reasons."

"Does that mean... you have a pce...for us?" The asked.

  Kerru nodded.

The and Tanais gasped and then their expression turned into happiness. The sisters run over to give the mayor a hug as a sign of thanks. Shokei's party felt touched by the moment they saw the hug.

"This...is so beautiful." Sadako said with a tear in her eyes.

"I am blessed for those two..." Tamiko said, with tears. "I'm so happy for them."

"I am happy for them." Rei said with a pleased look. "They won't have to live in a shelter no more."

The party watch as Kerru breaks up the hug and looks at the twin sisters.

"I have a daughter that's just like your height." Kerru said to them. "I am sure that you two will get along with her."

  The and Tanais nodded.

"And what your rescuer have said, the reward will go for you two in favor of her request." Kerru said.

"Th-thanks Shokei!" The said to her.

  "Thank you." Tanais said.

Shokei smiled as she felt truly happy for someone who will take care of them.

The party is now outside of the office. Shokei and her party looks at the twin sisters once again.

"I want to thank you Shokei for finding my sister." The said to her. "Without your help, I would never know where my sister could be."

"I, too, also want to thank you for saving me from that mean sorcerer." Tanais said. "You and your friends are amazing to watch you fight against that witch and her creation."

"It's no problem." Shokei said and looks at her allies. "I would have not done this all alone if it weren't for my friends."

Rei and Naoko waved at them. Some of Shokei's members waved back at the twin sisters.

"So...I hate this part..." The said, taking a gulp. "...I guess this is where we say our goodbyes here."

  "Yeah." Shokei said sadly.

"You're like a big sister to me." The said to her. "Going through this whole adventure was fun. It seems that you and your friends have somewhere important to go to."

"We do." Shokei said with a nod.

"So sad..." Naoko said, feeling the need to cry. "So sad I'm going to miss...miss this..."

Rei can tell she was about to cry. She embraces Naoko with a hug as Naoko cried.

"It's ok." The said. "Me and my sister will be fine in the home of the mayor."

"We'll be all right." Rei said to her. "Even if apart, we're still amazing together."

  The smiled.

"Anyways, I hope to see you all again." The said.

The and Tanais bowed and then they waved their goodbyes as the party departs.

"See you again, Shokei!" The calls out to her.

"...see you..." Shokei said with a whisper.

The twin sisters have left. Once they're gone, Shokei looks at Rei.

"We should return back to the ship dock to see if the ship to Danevana has arrived for us." Shokei said.

  "Right." Rei nodded.

The party walks back to the seaport to meet the owner for the ship to Danevana. As they are heading back, the party can see that there are more ships that have returned from the seas and there was activity of people unloading cargo from their deck. Shokei arrives back at the owner.

"Ah it's you again." The owner of the ship recognizes a group of travelers coming up to his deck.

"Hi! I have returned." Shokei said to him. "I came back to see if the ship to Danevana is ready to leave."

"The ship arrived as of now." The owner said. "However, we are not allowing passengers to go onboard just yet. We are unloading stuff at the moment."

"Ok. We are in need to travel down to Danevana." Shokei said to him. "I hope that you will still let us onboard your ship, right?"

"Of course!" The owner replied. "We are not in a rush. We're settling here until the evening."

"Then that's good." Shokei said. "We'll be here to get onboard."

"Not a problem!" The owner said. "See you ter!"

Walking away from the ship, Shokei and her party gathered together and thinks about what to do next.

"What do we do?" Saeko asked.

"We just need to pass the time." Shokei replied. "That's the least to what we can do."

"We can go shopping for goods before we leave here." Marie said.

"I...guess we can do just that." Shokei said, siding with Marie's decision.

"Great! Let's explore!!" Marie said happily.

The party decides to look around the town of Egesul before they depart for Danevana.

Around nighttime, it is time for Shokei and her party to leave Egesul. Looking out at the ocean, Shokei can see the moonlight shining above the watery seas. The journey in finding the next gem won't be an easy one and her map shows that she must travel far to be on the lookout for those gems. With her allies, Shokei needs support from them to bring her as far as she can go.

The party boards on the ship. This ship is much bigger than Rei's ship and its rge in size. Once everyone is on board, the party is lead to one of the crew members and they are led to where they will be staying in during the trip to Danevana. It is a single room with eight bunk beds.

"Here's where you all will be staying." The crew member said. "The trip to Danevana will be a long one and its miles away from where we are now."

  "Got it." Shokei said.

Soon, the ship is making final preparations before leaving Egesul. Shokei and her party are looking around the ship as they are all over. There, the ship begins to take off and sails its way out to the ocean. Shokei can see the town of Egesul with its lights showing and people walking around the streets. The ship sails further as it leaves behind the content of Martydom and sails southwest to Danevana.

"Looks as if we won't be back in Martyrdom for days..." Shokei said to herself.

"Hey Shokei! The crew is serving us dinner!" Rei calls out to her. "C'mon!"

Shokei pipes up to hear Rei and then she heads off.

While on the sea trip, Shokei and her party are having dinner, made by the crew on the ship. The meal was delicious as they all chow down on the meals that the crew offers to them. The food was all good for their appetite until they felt full.

"I'm stuffed..." Marie said as she feels her belly.

"Such good food..." Rei said. "Man, I haven't ate a meal like that for a few days."

"I'm...done here." Shokei said, getting up from the table.

"Leaving already?" Naoko asked her. "But you need to digest first."

"I'm good...I feel very tired from a long day." Shokei said to her.

  "No dessert?" Saeko asked.

"Nah. I'll pass." Shokei said with a yarn.

"I can leave some leftovers for you." Rei said to her. "That way you won't miss out."

"That's no problem." Shokei said. "I'm heading back to the room."

After the meal, Shokei leaves and returns back to the guest room. She calls in for the night and rests herself in her bunk bed. It was a long journey from the events that she had to go through. Shokei closes her eyes and breathes in slowly. Then, she drifted off to sleep.

  ...Shokei...Shokei...

Shokei hears noises calling out to her head. She hears a familiar voice that is bringing her attention.

  ...Shokei...can you hear me?

Shokei opens her eyes and gets up from the ground. In her view, she finds herself in an undisclosed forest. The forest is surrounded in darkness.

"That...voice..." Shokei said and waits to hear it again.

  ...Shokei...over here...

Shokei turns to see that there was a figure standing there at a distance. Shokei's eyes get to her sight as she sees...

  "Pri...Princess Antoinette..." Shokei said, blinking.

Shokei can see the princess in her presence. However, the princess is in a shape of a ghost and she nearly looks invisible.

  ...Save me...Shokei...Save...me...

  "Wh-what?" Shokei asked.

  ...Sho-Shokei...I...I cannot stand being here...its too dark...he-help...me...

Shokei takes a step close to where Antoinette's ghostly figure is. She wants to get close enough to see the princess clearly.

"An-Antoinette?" Shokei said. "Is it...really you?"

As Shokei stares at the ghostly figure that looks like the princess, an unknown force rises up from the ground. A reddish figure makes an appearance and quietly walks right behind Shokei.

  ...Shokei...Sh-Shokei...

Shokei reaches out to Antoinette. The ghostly figure vanishes as she disappears from her sight.

  "Huh?!...GU-GUHHHHH!!!"

Without warning, the figure makes an unexpected move and stabbed Shokei behind through the chest. The impact of the thrust was super effective as Shokei's body goes lifeless. The figure takes out the instrument that it used to kill Shokei.

Shokei's eyes became lifeless as its body turns over to become a dying corpse. Shokei, with its st minute of dying breath, looks to see the unknown figure staring down at her. Her vision faded as everything went bck.

Shokei gasped in shock. She became fully awake after going through another dream. The dream turned out to be horrifying. She checks herself to see that she is alive, and she felt gd that she did not die from the horrible dream. Now it became clear to what Shokei has been forgetting.

  Antoinette...oh...Antoinette...I forgot...

Shokei reflects on the moment back when Senwald was now in ruins and Antoinette became abducted by the Necromutants. She takes her time to reflect on the dream.

Was that really a dream...or just my imagination? Shokei thought. I cannot tell what that was or who was trying to kill me. Oh Antoinette. I hope you're all right. I just can't even think of what those Necromutants will do to you.

Shokei takes a deep breath. Recovering from the bad dream, she goes back to sleep.
