Chapter 52

Back at the Dark Dreams Gaxy in Du-Mek, the Necromutants are having a brief meeting with the Creator, Sewero.

"I am disappointed that you failed to obtain the first two gems that the Emissary of Light has in her possession." The widescreen speaks to them. "If she keeps it up and obtains all eight gems, we will not be able to open the gates that will hold the ultimate power for domination."

  "Gates?" Hauntmystic asked. "What gates?"

"What exactly do you mean sire?" Fozoworu asked him.

"Let me expin and all of you will understand." Sewero expined in detail. "You see, in order for our pnet to become superior among this Gaxy, the eight sacred gems will open a secret gate that lies somewhere in an unidentified portal, the Makai Gate. The gate is a mysterious ancient portal that is hidden on the pnet Zibrao. When the gems are in pce around the gate, a legendary power is said to be found in which the past hero has used in the Dark Age era. This source of power is said to be very strong and powerful enough that was used and sealed me away and my creations in centuries."

"Interesting." Fozoworu said and asked. "Was this weapon capable to defeat you and your creations?"

"My knowledge is vague as I do not remember how strong the weapon was used against me." Sewero replied. "What I remember was that obtaining the gems can gain us entry into another dimension."

"Sounds unique." Hauntmystic said. "I'm all in for this powerful weapon."

"One thing for sure is that with your help in obtaining the gems, we will become immortal and conquer the universe." Sewero said. "When we obtain this weapon, I will absorb the energy from that weapon so that my powers become endless and make Du-Mek to become an eversting kingdom where darkness rules for eternity!"

The widescreen ughs evilly as it feels determined to focus on his mission.

"That reminds me sire." Kukofoges said and asked. "Where can we find the next gem?"

"The Terra Gem you asked?" Sewero asked and replied. "The next gem that the Emissary is tracking is located in a deep wilderness area. I can tell that she is heading for Euna, where that gem is said to be found there, according to my calcutions. I need you all to go to that continent and stop the Emissary from retrieving the next gem."

"We will, master." Fozoworu bowed. "We won't let you down."

"We need to become serious within our mission." Sewero said in a cold-hearted tone. "And I do mean serious business!!"

Meanwhile, Shokei and her party are sailing back to Egesul. While on the ship, Shokei looks around and sees her party is rexing themselves as they wait to arrive back on Martyrdom. Shokei can see that Mizuki is not doing too much around the group. She seems quiet as she looks out at the ocean. Shokei goes over to talk to her.

  "Hi..." Shokei greeted Mizuki.

  "Hey." Mizuki said to her.

"You seem quiet tely." Shokei said and asked. "Is there something wrong?"

"Oh no. Not really." Mizuki replied. "I'm just...staring out at the ocean."

  "I see." Shokei said.

Shokei and Mizuki looks at the ocean together. Then, Shokei thought of what she wanted to say to Mizuki.

"Say, you never tell me about what kind of person you are." Shokei said to her. "Tell me more about yourself."

"Who am I personally?" Mizuki asked.

"Yeah." Shokei nodded. "I mean, I want to know you a little bit more. Like your background for instance."

"And you are wondering why I wear this traditional outfit that I am wearing, right?" Mizuki asked.

  Shokei nodded.

"Ok...I will tell you." Mizuki begins. "A long time ago, I was raised in a tribe in Danevana, called Graadish. It was a desert tribal community to where I was born and raised by my ancestors. My tribe specialized in chemists and those with supernatural powers. During my time, raised as a youth, my tribe became under attack by an unknown force that decimated many of our tribe members. Half of the survivors made their way out of the natural disaster to safety while there were lives that became lost by the hands of evil. My parents were nowhere to be found and I was led to safety thanks to my retive Ginko, and nephew Erolin."

"After that disaster on Graadish," she continued. "I noticed that the dark forces were spreading around my homend. I had no idea where the source was coming from and who was responsible for the damages that were done on my tribe. And still to this day, I don't have a clue as to who was behind the evilness to destroy my tribe, my own people. The one thing that I truly missed dearly was the loss of my parents."

"Oh my..." Shokei said, hearing her backstory. "That's terrible...but how did you managed to survive with Ginko and Erolin?"

"We traveled for days. Yet, for months, as we had no food or water to aid us. We were stranded into the desert until we came across a town on one faithful day. Then, some local noticed us and gave us a pce to stay at the time. We were able to survive from that point on."

"I see." Shokei said. "Hmm...maybe the spirit was right about this."

  "About what?" Mizuki asked.

"Beltine the spirit. She talked about the invasion of the dark forces and everything that is taking pce at this time." Shokei tells her. "I believe that you are a victim to those Necromutants."

"Probably." Mizuki said and asked. "Speaking of that, I am curious on what our enemies are willing to get those gems anyway? There must be a purpose into obtaining them."

"I'm not so sure..." Shokei replied. She looks down on the two gems she obtained. "But only time will tell."

"I guess." Mizuki said. "As of today, I really want to know where my family could have gone off to in Danevana. I know that losing them in that invasion was a nightmare for me, but I'll be gd to see them alive one of these days."

Shokei hears this and then looks at Mizuki.

"I'm sure you will see them again." Shokei said to her. "If you believe that your parents are alive somewhere, Danevana or not, then you will be grateful to see them again."

"Thanks, Shokei." Mizuki said to her. "I'm gd that you understand my story."

"No problem." Shokei said with a nod. "At least I know you better now."

The ship sails at a strenuous pace and the trip were smooth sailing without any incidents. Soon, the party have returned back to Egesul as soon as the ship has reached the port. Everyone boards off the ship and Shokei goes back to the captain.

"When will this ship head for Euna?" Shokei asked.

"My ship will be making its departure to another continent." The captain tells her. "We won't be back here until tomorrow."

  "I see." Shokei said.

"Sorry about that, but it's my duty for me and my men to deliver goods to the other continents." The captain said to her. "Just hope that we return in one piece without no problems of sea monsters out there."

"That's fine." Shokei said. "I hope your ship comes back here tomorrow."

"We shall see." The captain said. "Farewell for now!"

Shokei returns back to her party.

"What's the news?" Kichiro asked her.

"The captain said that his ship won't return to Egesul until tomorrow." Shokei tells him.

"Understandable." Kichiro said. "In the meantime, let's head back to Itaea to ask Nobuatsu on information for the next gem location."

"Right." Shokei said. "Let us go then."

Shokei and her party leaves the town of Egesul and traveled back to Itaea.

Later, the party arrived back at Itaea. They are now at Nouatsu's house. Nobuatsu is looking at the map that he has his hands on. He takes his time to study the map as he is figuring out the next location that is marked. As he was doing that, Shokei's party tours around the mansion as they are checking out Kichiro's friend astrological environments that he has in his pce. Marie explores around the room until she caught her attention on one of the pictures on the wall. She examines the picture as the image shows a star gate with eight gems that are around the circle of the gate.

"Interesting..." Marie said, stares at the picture.

"Anything?" Kichiro asked Nobuatsu, waiting for his response.

"Looks like you'll be finding the next gem in a wilderness of Euna." Nobuatsu said. "I have a feeling that this area appears to be a swamp."

  "Really?" Shokei asked.

"Of course." Nobuatsu said to her. "In order to get to the swamp, you need to go through the Kingdom of Mercasaea. The swamp is found somewhere in a woodnd area."

"Say, what's this?" Marie asked Nobuatsu, pointing at the picture.

"Hmm, what are you looking at Marie?" Shokei asked.

The party walks over as Marie stands near the picture that she has her eyes on.

"Let's see here." Nobuatsu said, seeing the picture. "Why yes! That there is an ancient gate portal, the Makai Gate."

"The Makai Gate..." Shokei said, hearing this the first time.

"Never heard of this gate." Rei said. "Care to enlighten us?"

"Sure." Nobuatsu said and expined. "I should tell you all a brief summary about this game, since it caught your attention. In the times of the Great War, the hero had managed to gather all the gems that he obtained. When the gems are inserted by the slots on the Makai Gate, the gate opens a portal and the entrance to that portal had guided the hero into a strange dimension."

"What kind of dimension did the hero went through?" Saeko asked.

"I'm not so sure." Nobuatsu replied. "However, I do believe that upon going through the gate, it does not mean it would be safe for any of you to enter."

"How do you know about all of this? Were you even there?" Rei asked him.

"Of course." Nobuatsu replied. "Why? You think I would make this stuff up?"

"You should not have asked him that." Kichiro advised her. "I should mention that Kichiro has lived long enough to go through the events that he encountered and lived long enough to tell it all."

"I should have mentioned this before." Nobuatsu added. "I am a survivor of the Dark Age era. I've been through this whole experience, and I have followed up everything upon that hero's journey when he saved the universe."

"Oh...I see..." Rei said and nodded.

"Now then," Nobuatsu continued. "Inside the Makai Gate portal, a very powerful weapon lies inside the unknown dimension that was used to defeat "The Creator" back then. The weapon was powerful enough to seal away the forces of evil and banish it away from the universe."

"With the power of all eight gems, we can go through the portal to find that ultimate weapon." Shokei said.

"That is correct." Nobuatsu said. "However, not all of you can go through the portal. If I remember, only the one chosen as the "Emissary" can enter into the unknown world alone. That being said, the chosen one is the only one that can obtain the powerful weapon within that dimension by going through the challenges that awaits."

"Sounds interesting." Shokei said and asked. "Where can we find the Makai Gate?"

"I can't say where the location of the gate is. I do know that you would have to travel very far from this pnet to get to Zibato."

"A pnet?" Marie asked. "What...where are we now?"

"This is pnet Nolea." Obsidian tells her. "This pnet, from what I researched, is known for its forests and wilderness. Pnet Zibato is where I am from. I mentioned this before that I came to this pnet through a sanctuary that allowed me to reach here."

"Oh! Oh yeah, I remember now!" Marie said. "When we first met you back during Shokei and Antoinette's rescue."

  "Exactly little one." Obsidian said.

"So, we're on Nolea..." Shokei said.

"I'm sure we'll find another way to travel back to my home pnet." Obsidian said. "This pnet here does not have modern technology whereas Zibato has more industrial infrastructure."

"In other words, Zibato is more of a modern world, right?" Marie asked.

  "It is." Obsidian replied.

"I find it amusing how someone like you came to our pnet here." Saeko said. "I really want to learn much more of Zibato."

  "Sure." Obsidian said.

"Anyways, I believe I have told you enough of where the next gem can be found already." Nobuatsu said. "I must be alone at this moment."

  "More research?" Kichiro asked him.

"And that's a question you need not to reply." Nobuatsu said and then tells the party. "I need all of you to leave here and respect my privacy at this time."

"All right..." Shokei said. "I guess we're done here for now that is."

"You can say that, unless if you need anything that you needed to know, I'm here." Nobuatsu said.

"Ok." Shokei nodded. "All right, let's get going."

The party leaves Nobuatsu's house. As soon as they bypass through the gates, they look at each other, figuring out what to do next.

"Great. Now what should we do?" Marie asked.

"The trip leading to Euna is already on hold." Shokei said to her party. "We're going to wait for a while until the departing ship comes back to Egesul."

"If anything, we can go over to my pce." Kichiro said.

The party did and they all returned back to Kichiro's house.

It is around the evening as Itaea has its usual night activities that are going on in the streets. Shokei and her party are taking a time out on their journey as they are rexing in the town's tavern.

"So, Lei, tell us more about yourself." Shokei said to her.

Lei piped up. Since she has been quiet throughout the evening, she finds the confidence enough in breaking the ice.

"Eh? Me?" Lei points to herself.

"Of course." Shokei said to her. "Remember when you said that you're from Du-Mek?"

"Ah...why yes. That there is true." Lei said.

"I mean, you are from Du-Mek, but you never told us what area you're from." Shokei said to her.

"Really though, what part of Du-Mek you came from?" Rei asked her.

"Ok, ok! I'll tell you." Lei said. "I was born and raised in a Kingdom called Ugygas."

"Amazing." Sadako said. "There's even continents on that pnet."

The party was amused to hear this, except for Rei, who has already known about this.

"You don't mind telling us more about yourself, would you?" Beatrice asked.

"Certainly." Lei said and resumed. "In the past, Ugygas used to be a Kingdom that was known for psychiatric and mental sorcery. Ever since "The Creator" behaved differently, Du-Mek was under siege in eternal darkness. While I aged, I have noticed that the people were behaving erratically and malevolent. Their use of psychic powers is being used for death and destruction and are creating sources as powerful weapons and beings for the wrong reasons."

"Then," she continued. "At that time, a mysterious cn, calling themselves the Necromutants of Chaos, ruled the pnet of Du-Mek. Ugygas has already been turned into imperial darkness. The purpose of the Necromutants is to rule the world with darkness and will destroy those that would interfere or invades their pnet. The main source of it all is that there is someone who calls himself "The Creator" and he's the one who's responsible for making the Necromutants all powerful and keeping Du-Mek in a world of darkness."

  "Wow...that's crazy." Kichiro said.

"There is no way that someone like you can exist from Du-Mek." Obsidian said. "And here I thought that there was barely any life living on that pnet."

"I find it amusing to meet someone who's from a world that is already in darkness." Sadako said. She looks at Obsidian. "Same goes for someone who's from the world of Zibato."

"What kind of life was like before Ugygas became trapped in a world of darkness?" Kichiro asked.

"Umm..." Lei ponders to herself. Then, she replied. "I...I don't think I can remember. I lost most of my memory since the day of the darkness invading my pnet. So...I don't remember."

"It's ok if you don't remember much." Kichiro said. "But it's really amazing that we get to meet someone like you from a seized pnet."

  Remember...much? Lei thought to herself.

"Hey Lei. I got a question." Rei calls out on her.

"Huh?" Lei turned and saw Rei. "What is it?"

"You have any siblings during your time before that invasion took over your pnet?" Rei asked. "Or perhaps, parents?"

"I don't remember much on what happened to my parents, but I do have a sister." Lei replied. "Although I cannot recall whatever happened to them, I felt like an orphan during my time when I was little."

  "I see." Rei said.

"It's been so long, I can't recall much of my memory." Lei said. "I can't remember what just happened in my childhood during that time with the invasion."

The party understands Lei's backstory. However, Lei felt a little inside to prevent her true identity from being exposed.

I had to... Lei thought to herself. My past...everything...Neither of them won't know the true story. Not even the Emissary...

It was getting te in Itaea. Shokei and her party returned back to Kichiro's house to get some rest for tomorrow's departure, once again, to leave Martyrdom to Euna. While the party is asleep, Rei wakes up suddenly and she looks to see that Lei is not sleeping beside her. Seeing that this was unusual for her ally to not being able to rest, Rei gets up from her bed to search for her. From walking upstairs from the basement, she looks around to see if Lei is in the living room. Then, she turned to see that the back door is open slightly, which leads to the backyard of Kichiro's house. To where she is standing, Rei can see Lei is staring up into the moonlight while she sits on the grass.

Rei quietly steps out of the house and approaches Lei. Lei looks behind her to see who was standing and she saw Rei coming towards her.

  "Hmm?" Lei looks at her.

"What are you doing out here?" Rei asked her.

"Oh...I can't sleep." Lei tells her. "I needed some fresh air and just looking at the stars."

  "I see..." Rei said.

"Say, you wouldn't mind joining in and watch the stars with me, would you?" Lei asked her.

Hearing this, Rei walks up and goes right over to where Lei is seated. She sits right next to her and then the pair are watching the bright moonlight beaming out with energy. The girls gaze at the bright skies until the silence is broken.

"Whenever you see the stars up in the sky at night, what do you vision?" Lei asked.

Rei thinks about this question for a minute. She takes her time carefully and replied.

"I can imagine myself traveling around the gaxy." Rei responded to her. "I feel like I want to explore the entire space field."

"Are you serious?" Lei turns to look at her and asked. "How are you going to do that?"

"Heh heh..." Rei ughed. "I don't know. I just felt that it would be realistic in a way that I can just soar myself sky high up there and get a feel of the stars around me."

  "Hmmm..." Lei listened.

"In fact, I remember that one time I saw a shooting star before when I was young." Rei tells her. "When I saw my first shooting star, I could not turn away and I stared at it. It came down so fast to my eyes. Experiencing my first shooting star was a wonderful moment for me."

"You might be one of those people that is fascinated by Astronomy." Lei said to her.

"You can say that." Rei said to her. "I like stars and consteltions. I wish that I can explore all around the gaxy."

  "...I see." Lei said.

The girls continue to gaze at the skies as they are watching the stars.

"I have something that I want to ask you." Lei said to Rei.

  "What's that?" Rei asked.

"Do you dream often?" Lei asked her.

"No. Not really." Rei replied. "I barely have dreams."

"I see." Lei said. "I dream often. Most times I get these visuals that are weird to me."

"Like what?" Rei asked. "What kind of dreams you have?"

"Mainly fantasies." Lei tells her. "Its...not the normal fantasy that you would think. My dreams are usually wet fantasies."

"Huh?" Rei turns to see Lei in the eyes.

"Oops!" Lei said and asked. "Am I scaring you?"

"Oh no! You're not scaring me at all." Rei replied. "I was curious on what those wet dreams you fantasize about."

"Oh, all right." Lei said. "Do you want me to continue?"

"Sure, go ahead." Rei insisted. "I'll hear more on this."

"Anyways," Lei continued. "In my dreams, I feel myself with someone right beside me. I can visualize myself being with that person...and I feel that I am making out in a sense of nature. I felt as if I'm holding, fondling, and touching that person in my presence. The pleasure feels sensational, energetic, I can feel myself not taking any sign of resistance..."

Rei looks at Lei in a bnk stare. Lei paused as she sees Rei staring at her.

"Is there something wrong?" Lei asked her.

"Sounds like you have a unique fantasy going on." Rei responded.

  "I...I guess..." Lei said, blinking.

"And I'm pretty sure you touch yourself at nights, do you?" Rei asked.

"Hey!" Lei said, feeling peeved. "Let's not go there now!"

"Ok, ok! I was just joking with you." Rei said and asked. "Why did you bring up the dream discussion then? Was this a male or female you have in your dream? What is it?"

"Its...I can't tell you that." Lei replied. "It's a secret."

"Really?" Rei asked. "You can tell me. I won't mention it to anyone."

"You're pushing this aren't you?" Lei asked.

"C'mon. It's just between us. Nobody won't find out." Rei said to her.

"All right, all right..." Lei said, taking a deep breath. "In my dream, I feel close someone near me. Yes, I said it. I can feel the nature of the person's scent and touches around me. I can feel the grasp and firmness from being touched around me. It feels so...wet, that I nearly wet myself from those nights."

"...Ok..." Rei said, not saying anything else further.

"I hope...you don't tell anyone about this." Lei said. "Especially for someone coming out as a..."

"You don't need to say anything further." Rei interrupted her. "...I understand."

Lei paused as she wanted to say something. Instead, she dropped it. The pair resumed looking back at the night skies, keeping themselves quiet for a few minutes.

"Quick question." Rei said to Lei.

Lei turns to look at her.

"About that discussion we had at the tavern," Rei said and asked. "Do you remember what it was like in your world? I mean, a time when you were young back then."

  "How come?" Lei asked.

"I mean, something tells me you didn't expin much about your past, which left me pondering and lost." Rei said to her. "I wasn't sure if you can recall what life was like in Ugygas."

"Ok." Lei said. "This might be long, but I hope you can bear with me."

"Sure." Rei said. "You can tell me all about it."

"...back then, Ugygas was once ruled by a good king that used to be the supreme ruler of Du-Mek." Lei begins. "He was known to be "The Creator" as his title stands."

"Wait a minute..." Rei wanted to say something.

"Hold on!" Lei interrupted. "I know what you're thinking. Just hear me out and I'll tell you everything."

"Oh...ok." Rei said, gesturing her to continue.

"Anyways," Lei resumed. "Our true leader, "The Creator", was a generous and powerful ruler. He controls the whole pnet of Du-Mek. His form was in a shape of some widescreen, some monitor, and his usage of technology was his way of running the pnet entirely. The people in the Kingdom of Ugygas lived peaceful. We had no sign of disaster or a threat to our world. Then, one fateful day, a source of strange demonic figures has invaded the pnet. The dark forces caused a widespread on Du-Mek and the cause of it all made my people behave violently. Some turned against each other, causing chaos and destruction. The mist of darkness also effected "The Creator" himself. His behavior caused him to go malevolent on Du-Mek."

"Then," Lei continued. "During the time of the Dark Age era, a small group, called the Necromutants of Chaos, became the next generation of leaders and rulers of Du-Mek. Their goal is to overthrow the universe and become rulers of this dimension, called the Gaxy Forest. The Necromutants are known to recruit survivors to join their league. Many of them joined sides with the cn while some feared their overruling."

"That sounds like they're trying to recruit your people to join them." Rei said to her.

"Right." Lei pointed out. "However, it's all about deviancy. And if you're one with a heart that's filled with hate and rage, the Necromutants will see to your standards and have you joined them. Upon joining them, the Necromutants will enhance you to become a part of their force."

"Wow...sounds interesting." Rei said, listening to all of this.

"I cannot remember what the Necromutants had done to the people of Ugygas. All I do know was that their lives have been lost by the hands of the dark forces." Lei said sadly.

"I'm sorry to hear all this..." Rei said to her.

"Do you remember when I told you about my parents and how I became an orphan?" Lei asked her.

  "What about it?" Rei asked.

"I remember being born in Ugygas at a young age." Lei tells her. "I can't recall who my parents were, and I feel like I don't recall myself as a being in Du-Mek."

"But...you have a sibling, right?" Rei asked. "What about your sister?"

"Her? I don't remember what happened to my sister. However, she and I were born at the same time and period." Lei said to her.

"Did you remember the st time you saw her?" Rei asked.

"Hmm...not that I remember." Lei tells her.

"I mean, did anything happened to her? Like did she died tragically during the Dark Age era?" Rei asked.

"I...don't know." Lei shakes her head. "I don't...remember."

"Ok, ok." Rei said, preventing herself from asking further. "I won't upset you further. Then again, you might as well tell me how you got the ability to pull off those psychic powers of yours."

"I was about to mention that." Lei said.

  "Ok." Rei said.

"I can tell you how I was gifted with psychic powers." Lei said. "When I was young, I was looked at differently. I was avoided...abandoned...felt that I was not an actual being. I felt alone...like an outsider...an alien...I felt unknown to everyone, a rejection. When I grew up in life, I felt a strange sensation inside of me...lifting off an object, I have discovered using my psychic abilities for the first time. I used my powers against a strange being that was trying to bother me. Defending myself against someone with psychic powers was unexpected...but I only killed him mentally rather than paralyzing or stopping him."

"You know," She continues further. "I found it weird that my psychic abilities are powerful enough to destroy anyone. However, I felt that it was too dangerous that I would not be able to reveal such mental strength that I was given at birth, without knowledge. As I grew older, I still have a loss of memories of what happened. The darkness surrounding Du-Mek was too strong that I have bcked out."

Rei finds herself being driven into Lei's story as she gets a full detail about her past and hometown from Du-Mek.

"Lei..." Rei said. "After listening to everything that you said about your past..."

Lei listens to what Rei had to say.

  "...Its...touching..." she finished.

"You did?" Lei said and asked. "Why did you say it that way?"

"I feel that you were in depth with me." Rei tells her. "You did tell me about a lot behind your background and where you came from. It's amazing that you are still alive and well from the past that you had to go through. I, and the rest of our party, feel honored to meet you from your home pnet."

"Th-thanks." Lei said with a slight smile. "I feel more rexed to tell you about my past as I personally said everything to you. I'm gd you got a better understanding through me."

"Yeah..." Rei nodded. "Aside from Du-Mek, were there any other areas around the pnet that has been affected by the darkness?"

"Yes." Lei replied. "But I really don't know, other than the Kingdom of Ugygas. The pnet of Du-Mek is a wastend, a deserted area which is overthrown by the darkness."

  "I see." Rei said.

  Lei nodded.

"Well..." Rei said as she yawned. "I'm heading back to sleep."

Rei gets up from the grass and heads back to the house. Lei can see her heading back inside. Before Rei went inside, she looks back at Lei.

"I had a nice conversation with you Rei." Lei said to her.

"Anytime." Rei nodded. Then asked, "Are you sure you're coming back to bed?"

"No, I'm fine here." Lei replied. "I'm not tired yet."

"All right." Rei said. "We leave for Euna tomorrow. Just a reminder."

  "No problem." Lei said. "Goodnight."

Rei walks back into the house. Lei brings her attention back to the skies and still see the stars are shining brightly.
