Chapter 39

It is now the evening hour. Shokei and her party have returned back from Thygya. With the medicine, Navelc, in Mizuki's possession, the party heads back to Ginko's house. The elder looks up to see Shokei has returned back from their trip.

"Mi-Mizuki...you came back!" Ginko said with a surprised look.

"I am safe, Ginko." Mizuki said to her.

"Ohhh what took you so long to return here?" Ginko asked her. "I thought I would never see you again."

"I'm sorry if I have made you worried." Mizuki expined. "I was busy with my search, and I know being out there took me long enough to find the medicine. I slept in the area for just a few days during that time."

"And yet you go off with such limited number of supplies that would make you die out there." Ginko said.

"I did manage well, Ginko." Mizuki said. "Again, I didn't mean to have you worried about me, thanks to Shokei and her band of allies."

"I see." Ginko said and then asked. "Did you find that medicine that you were looking for?"

"Yes. I have it right here in my hands." Mizuki replied and revealed the Navelc.

"Aha." Ginko said, seeing the medicine in the bottle. "It's quite full in there. Are you sure this will be enough to save lives for the people of this town?"

"It should be enough." Mizuki replied. "This medicine can be recreated. I'll send it to the clinic so that they can figure out the materials needed should we need to reproduce more."

"I hope so so that it can be the cure to the people's conditions." Ginko said.

"How's your nephew doing?" Mizuki asked her. "Have you gone over to check up on him?"

"I haven't." Ginko replied. "I still think that one of your friends is checking up on him and she has not report back to me on his condition."

  "That's strange." Marie said.

"Maybe we should check back on Lei if she is doing her part in watching him." Shokei said. "Ginko, let's go there."

The party, along with Ginko, all head back to the clinic. There, they went to visit Ginko's nephew, Erolin, and in the room, they can see that Lei is reading a book as the nephew is resting in bed. Lei turns to see Shokei and her allies have returned.

"Hey, you're back!" Lei called out to them.

"How is he doing?" Ginko asked.

"He's doing fine." Lei replied to her. "The doctors did another checkup on him just a while ago."

"Are you sure about that young d?" Ginko asked her with a sign of disappointment. "You did not come and tell me about his condition."

"Ooh! Sorry about that!" Lei apologized, keeping herself normal to not be suspicious.

"Hmm..." Mizuki walks up to Erolin's bedside and feels his forehead. "He seems to be cooling down for a bit. In this case, he should be doing fine."

"Oh ok!" Ginko nodded. "At least he's doing well."

"What about the Navelc?" Shokei asked Mizuki. "What will you do with it?"

"For this medicine, this cannot be swallowed." Mizuki tells her. "This will be used to mix with other medications until a special form of this medicine will be used to cure Erolin."

"How long will that take?" Marie asked.

"It should not be long." Mizuki replied. "It will take some time for this medicine to be developed."

"I see." Shokei said. "In that case, there's nothing we can do right now. We should head back to Ginko's pce to rest up."

"Oh sure!" Ginko said with a smile. "You are all welcome to stay anytime at my home. It's me saying thanks for all what you did to find Mizuki."

  "You're welcome." Shokei nodded.

The party leaves the clinic, leaving Mizuki there, and they are heading back to Ginko's house. While walking back, Rei takes a look at Lei. She tries to see if she can tell that her face resembles someone familiar.

"Rei, is there something wrong?" Lei asked her.

"Uh no! No!" Rei quickly replied. "For a minute, I thought I was...imagining things."

  "...I see." Lei said.

Rei continues ahead to walk with her party. Lei stops in her tracks and then made a quiet, evil smile.

I know Rei...you just have not figured it out...not yet...

The next day, Shokei and her party returned back to the clinic. There, the party sees Erolin as he appears to be healthy. Mizuki is in the same room as she sees the party.

"Morning everyone." Mizuki calls out to Shokei.

"Morning." Shokei said to her and asked. "How is he doing?"

"He's doing great." Mizuki tells her. "From using the Navelc and mixing with an antidote, I was able to use the medicine on my nephew. He feels much better after he drank the medicine st night."

"That's great news!" Marie said with happiness.

"Hey!" Erolin calls out to Shokei. "You're the one that saved my life from the heat."

"Not just me, but we all did." Shokei said, seeing her party. "My friends and I were the ones that saved you from that terrible heatwave."

"I see." Erolin said. "If I remember, I was heading off on an errand and then the heatwave made me feel weak in my body. I fell on the sand and remained there as I could not handle the heat. I give my thanks to you all for rescuing me from that dreaded heat. I would not know who would come to save me."

  "You're welcome." Shokei nodded.

"I guess that's the story." Marie said, satisfied of the outcome.

"Before you guys head off, is there anything that I can help you with?" Mizuki asked.

"Come to think of it...I know that Kichiro has something on him to what I found in Thygya." Marie said.

"What would that be?" Mizuki asked.

"Here." Kichiro hands the scroll to Mizuki.

  "Interesting...let's see here..."

Mizuki opens the scroll and sees the foreign nguage of symbols inscribed in it.

"I found this in one of the abandoned temples." Marie tells her. "I can't describe what I am reading, so I hope you understand the message through this scroll."

Mizuki takes her time to read the scroll.

"Hmm, this here is not hard to read." Mizuki said. "I can transte the message from what it says here."

"What does it say?" Shokei asked her.

"According to this scroll, a rare treasure that we bury lies deep in the sands, hidden in the Necropolis. Those who dare to find this treasure suffered through death by a guardian that protects it." Mizuki tells everyone through transtion.

  "Interesting." Naoko said.

"But what does this mean?" Mizuki asked. "Is there some sort of treasure that lies in the Necropolis?"

"I believe that scroll is telling us that certain treasure is found over there." Shokei responded. "It could be important."

"What do you mean?" Mizuki asked.

"You don't know the situation that I am in, but I can tell you what you need to know." Shokei tells her. "I am looking for a particur gem that is found in Danevana."

"Could this 'gem' be the treasure?" Mizuki asked.

"It's not really a treasure. It's way beyond that." Shokei replied.

  "Really?" Mizuki asked.

"This gem is not ordinary." Shokei said to her. "This is a gem that is needed to save our world from dark forces."

"You're not making this up, are you?" Mizuki asked.

"No. I'm not." Shokei shakes her head and asked. "Remember that strange being you encountered in Thygya?"

"Right. I remember that." Mizuki replied.

Lei hears this and follows the conversation.

"That enemy is one of the evil forces that are coming after me and my party." Shokei tells her. "Our world will prevail if we do not get this gem."

  "Sounds about right." Mizuki nodded.

"And she made that powerful monster that we survived." Saeko said.

"If you do not believe me, you will now." Shokei said to her. She takes out her map and shows it to Mizuki.

Mizuki sees the map and looks at it.

"From here, we need to make our trip to this location." Shokei points out to her. "This is the way to find the gem right here."

"Wait a minute! I know this area." Mizuki said, recognizing the location. "That's the Necropolis of the Sacred Sanctuary."

"You...know this pce?" Rei asked her.

"I have!" Mizuki nodded. "It's been a few years, but I remember visiting this area."

"Where do we need to go to make it there?" Shokei asked.

"It's northwest from here." Mizuki replied. "But if you were to go there now, it would be too dangerous because of the sandstorm blocking the way."

"That's ok, we can still tough it out and see if that sandstorm would mean anything to us." Rei said.

"Even if we are risking ourselves, then that would mean death for us." Shokei said to her.

  "I agree." Saeko nodded.

"Hold on now. You all are not pnning to go to that Necropolis, are you?" Mizuki asked.

  "We are." Shokei replied.

"If this is the case, then I want to join you." Mizuki said to her.

"But...what about Ginko and Erolin?" Shokei asked her. "Don't you think you should be watching them in case of anything?"

  "I want to...but..."

Mizuki wanted to say something. Looking back at Ginko, her retive nodded telling her that it was ok. Erolin looks at Mizuki and gave a nod to indicate that everything will be fine. Then, she sees Shokei.

"...but what would happen to you and your friends if you get trapped in the sandstorm?" Mizuki finished asking.

"Umm..." Shokei wanted to say something but paused.

"No. I won't accept the fact that you and your friends will do something risky." Mizuki said to her. "It is too dangerous for all of you to reach to Necropolis. That is why I want to join you all in case of anything. I know that I can be supportive, and I will aid you in your journey."

"You will?" Marie asked her. "You'll join us?!"

"Marie, that's for Shokei to decide." Sadako tells her.

  "Oh...sorry..." Marie said.

"It's ok." Shokei said and then looks at Mizuki. "You can come with us."

"Great! I will aid you in case of evilness comes in your way." Mizuki said to her.

"Really?" Shokei asked. "You can fight?"

"Absolutely. I would not be an adventurer if I don't have the will to save myself, would I?" Mizuki asked her.

  "Then its settled." Shokei said.

"Ginko and Erolin are ok with this." Mizuki said. "We can get going if you want to."

"Then we will without be waiting." Shokei said.

"I'll be fine, Mizuki." Ginko replied to her. "I will be here for Erolin. You can go along with your new friends that you met."

"Thanks." Mizuki said and then she goes over to hug Ginko.

"I know you been through long adventures, but I guess we won't see you for a while." Ginko said.

"Yes. I am aware." Mizuki said. "This is where I say my goodbyes."

  "Yes." Ginko said.

From bidding farewell to Ginko, Mizuki joins Shokei and her party and then everyone left Zeeletum to travel around Danevana.

Shokei and her party are traveling in the sand regions of Danevana. The party continues their journey in their search for the Necropolis.

"I believe your transtion skills will be a big help for us." Shokei said to Mizuki.

"Of course." Mizuki said. "That is the reason why I am joining you and your party, or else you wouldn't go far in your quest."

"What part of Danevana are we walking on now?" Beatrice asked.

"We are walking on Tiny Mammoth's Sands." Mizuki tells her. "This area here has sandstorms."

"Really?" Beatrice asked, looking around. "There does not appear to be any sandstorms in sight."

"Hopefully, we should not get trapped in one of them." Mizuki said. "Anyways, heading to that pce will take a few days for us to get there."

"Aw man!" Marie said in disappointment and shrugs. "More walking then."

"Shokei, are you sure you're being serious about heading over to the Necropolis?" Mizuki asked her.

"Yes." She replied. "You said that its dangerous, but for you leading the way, we should not get stuck in the sandstorm if we're caught in one."

  "That I am." Mizuki said.

The party continues their way to the Necropolis. Within hours of walking, the sun is still shining with high temperatures.

"Ohhhh, phooey." Marie said, fanning herself. "I am pooped."

"C'mon! Pull yourself together." Rei tells her, helping her out. "We're low on water at the moment and we don't have much left for you to quench your thirst."

"Actually, I do." Mizuki said, taking out her bottle kit.

  "Yay!" Marie said with relief.

"You can drink this." Mizuki tells her. "It isn't much, but I hope it will cool down your body temperature."

"Mmmm..." Marie drinks the water, offered by Mizuki.

"We're like...stuck in the middle of nowhere..." Tamiko said, scouting the desert.

"Probably this is the real point of being stuck here in this continent." Rei said to her.

"Huh?" Shokei paused and asked. "Do you guys feel something?"

The party stops as they see Shokei coming to a halt. They wait until they hear the sound of wind. The wind builds up more and more until the party can sense a situation that they are about to be trapped n.

  "No...it can't be..." Shokei said.

  "SANDSTORM!!!" Sadako cried out.

The sandstorm now brings gusty winds right to where the party is. Shokei and her party are struggling to get ahead of their destination. The sandstorm, however, is picking up speed and the party is at a standstill.

"Everyone, get together!!" Mizuki shouts out to everyone.

"Ahhhh! I can't see! I can't see!" Marie cried out.

"Ughhhh!!" Shokei feels the motions of the sandstorm making her uneasy. "Nnngh! I'm...getting dizzy!!"

The sandstorm is making the party suffer and everyone is trying to brace the storm.

  "Wh-what..." Rei looks down. "M-Marie?!"

Shokei can see that Marie has colpsed on the sand along with some of her party members as the winds knocked them out. Obsidian tried his best to fight the sandstorm, but he too colpsed. The rest of the party could not withstand the sandstorm as the current is making them fall unconscious.

"This...storm..." Mizuki said as she tried her best to fight it. "Wh-what...is this..."

Mizuki colpsed as she was not able to keep up against the storm. Shokei is the st person to stand strong against the sandstorm. However, she was not able to keep herself up to fight it and then she closed her eyes as the sandstorm made her unconscious.

"Quick, Shokei! We must lose ourselves in the forest before those bastards come after us!"

Shokei and Rei are running through the forest. Together, the pair are escaping from a sewing factory. Both of them are running as fast as possible while fleeing for their lives. Rei ran as fast as she can as Shokei is trailing as she tries to keep up with her to get far away from the factory.

"C'mon Shokei!" Rei calls out to her. "Hurry up!!"

"I...I'm tired..." Shokei huffed as she is losing speed.

  "Already?!" Rei shouted at her.

"I'm exhausted..." Shokei tells her, feeling tired. "Let's slow down..."

Rei completely stops running and then walks back to Shokei. She sees her friend tired out from all that running. From where they are now in the forest, the factory is at a far distance.

"I think we lost them." Rei said, checking back. "They won't find us here."

"Wh-what do we do now?" Shokei asked her, taking time to recover.

"It's too dark to tell and I doubt that they would come this far to catch us." Rei replied. "It's best that we find a shelter to hide in and stay in there for the night."

"Yes...let's do that then." Shokei said.

Shokei and Rei are finding a pce to hide in the forest. Soon, they found a cave.

"Are you sure that this is safe to walk in?" Shokei asked.

"I hope so." Rei replied. "After all, I wouldn't think of myself working for that cruel mistress forever."

"What can we do now?" Shokei asked. "It's only you and me. We don't have anything to eat or drink."

"We cannot think about that now." Rei said to her. "We'll have to let fate decide for us."

Both girls went into the cave and inspects the cave. Luckily, there are no life forms of any animals inside. Soon, the girls remained in the cave and together, they both fell asleep.

Came the next day, Shokei and Rei wakes up from their sleep. Leaving the cave, the pair continued their journey away from the factory as they keep going through the forest. As of now, they are now hungry and are searching for food. While Rei scouts the area to find any source of food, her eyes caught the attention on a small pond nearby.

"There!" Rei points out to Shokei.

"Hmm?" Shokei looks to see the pond.

The pair walks up to the pond. They see the pond clean and the sun sparkles down on the small water.

"Are you sure it's clean Rei?" Shokei asked her.

"I can't tell but...let me get a taste of it first." Rei tells her.

  "Ok...be careful." Shokei said.

Rei goes down and takes a sip of water, using her hand as a cup.

"Mmm..." Rei felt the taste and said, "This water is clean. It has a cold taste."

"All right...lets quench our thirst." Shokei said.

Seeing the pond looks clean without any hazards, both girls knelt down to take sips of water to refresher themselves. The water tastes cold, and the feeling of this water is pure and has a fvor of a fruit. After taking some sips of water from the pond, along with washing up their faces, Shokei and Rei decides to take a short break. They rex behind a tree and together, they look up at the cloudy skies. The sun shines into the forest as it is a peaceful atmosphere.

  "Lovely, isn't it?" Rei asked.

  "It sure is." Shokei replied.

"Doesn't it feel free to escape from the hands of that nasty pig, Titania?" Rei asked.

"Definitely." Shokei said. "I would never want to go back there and sew those clothes in my life again."

"I feel for you." Rei said. "Her cohorts were rough to us. Yet, they torment us if we screwed up on a certain skirt or dress."

  "I know." Shokei said.

"That reminds me." Rei said and asked. "Now that we are free, what pns do you have for a bright future?"

  "Me?" Shokei asked.

Rei nodded and waited for her to answer.

"I don't know." Shokei replied. "I have no idea what future I would have when I get older."

"No pns, eh?" Rei said. "For me, I have."

  "What's that?" Shokei asked.

"I had a dream while we were in our cells." Rei tells her. "I pictured myself in the future where I can see the stars and consteltions in the gaxy. My wish is to see what is up beyond the skies and travel around the gaxy."

"Are...you serious?" Shokei asked, blinking at her if she was crazy.

"No kidding. I am serious." Rei replied.

"What will you do to see the stars in the skies?" Shokei asked her. "How would you be able to do such thing?"

"I...well, that's only a fantasy." Rei replied. "Even if this pnet here cks technology, I hope that one day my dream would come true."

"Ok...I guess..." Shokei said with a shrug.

"Want to know another dream?" Rei asked her. "I wish that one of these days that I would possibly find someone to be with me when I am older."

  "Really?" Shokei asked her.

"Hey now. Not that I have any interest in men, though some can be considered weird..." Rei replied. "Hell no. I prefer a female to stand by me...and be with me."

Shokei listened as she looks at her.

"Heh, not saying that you would qualify to be my girlfriend. You're a friend to me that will be there for me. No matter what." Rei said to her.

"Of course." Shokei said with a smile. "I'm gd to meet you back at S..T."

"Heheh." Rei ughed a little. "Same here. But still, you have not mentioned what future you want yours to be."

"I don't have one in particur." Shokei said to her.

"Aw c'mon! I wonder what your future will be like." Rei said.

"I...ahhh..." Shokei sighed and looks back up in the sky. "I'll never know what the future holds for me..."

"Oh well...time will reveal, friend." Rei said to her.

Shokei and Rei views the sky more for a few minutes.

"We should keep moving while we can." Rei said as she gets up from the tree.

  "Yes." Shokei said. "Let's go."

"Speaking of that, we have to find a way to get out of this mess." Rei said.

Shokei and Rei are back on their feet to continue their journey. Later on, the pair are approaching small buildings just ahead and there, they have reached to a town. Walking in town, Shokei and Rei look around to see people going off to pces and they can even see activities taking pce.

"From here, there is a port that is just ahead from where we stand." Rei said. "Follow my lead."

Together, Shokei and Rei are walking through the town to get to the port. Some people look down on the two girls as they were passing by, and they have weird looks on them. The people see them as if they are new to their town, but neither paid too much attention. Shokei and Rei keeps going until they have reached up to the port. Once they arrived at the ship docks, the girls can see a ship that is loading with supplies.

"Where does that ship heads off to?" Rei asked.

Checking around, Rei finds an empty box that is avaible to her.

"I got an idea." Rei tells Shokei.

  "What's the pn?" Shokei asked.

"We'll sneak aboard on the ship by loading ourselves into that box." Rei tells her.

  "Ok." Shokei said.

"We don't have much time to waste." Rei said as she takes off. "Come."

By doing so, Shokei and Rei quietly get inside the box and then seal themselves inside. Once inside, they wait to see what happens next. Inside the box looks pitch dark and the girls could only see cracks of light coming inside the box by a millimeter.

"You think this is going to work?" Shokei quietly asked.

"I don't know..." Rei replied quietly. "I doubt that we would be...woah!!"

"Ehh! We're moving!" Shokei said quietly.

Shokei and Rei find themselves being lifted off the air and are being carried away. Both keep quiet as the box that they are in is taking them to the ship. Within seconds, Shokei and Rei can feel the box being dropped on the floor. The girls can hear footsteps of two people leaving the box behind.

"Maaan, that box was heavy!" One of the workers said.

"It felt like I am holding bricks or something." His fellow worker said.

"You think anything major is in that box?" The worker asked.

"Meh, who knows?" His coworker replied and shrugged.

As soon as the crew members left, Rei pry opens the box a little to see where they were being taken to and then they find themselves inside the ship.

"Yes!! It worked!!" Rei said quietly with success.

"At least we made it on the ship." Shokei said, remaining quiet. "I guess we can rex here until the time being."

"We cannot be seen at all once the ship sails." Rei said to her. "We'll have to make use of this floor here so it would be better if we remained in this area here for the time being."

"Ok." Shokei said. "I'm curious if this ship has anything for us to eat."

"If we look through the boxes and get away without suspicion, then I am sure that this ship should have these sources." Rei said.

"All right boys! We're sailing off!" A voice was said from above the ship.

"Dang! They're taking off!" Rei said to Shokei. "We should remain in the box now before we get in trouble."

Shokei and Rei remained inside the box that they are in for now. They are unable to do anything at the moment and the girls take a rest while being on the ship.
