Chapter 80

During that time, Shokei is dealing with Jun the fortune-teller. The fortune teller is trying to get a vision of her future. The psychic energy builds up as a visual is appearing from the crystal ball. Shokei has her eyes closed as she held on to Jun's hand. Mariko joined in as she too held both Shokei and Jun's hands.

Jun meditates as she feels the energy around her. She held Shokei's hand gently as she goes further into her reading. A few minutes in, Jun gasped slightly as something occurred in the mind.

"I sense something." Jun said out loud.

  "W-what's that?" Shokei asked.

"Silence!" Jun instructed her. "I need to focus."

Shokei waits patiently as another minute went by. She remained still until the ice is broken.

"I'm seeing something..." Jun said. "It...it appears that I can see one of your friends."

Shokei remained quiet as she listened.

"Somehow...one of your friends is in danger..." Jun said. "This friend...this one is going through a struggle."

  "What is it?" Shokei asked.

"This friend of yours...for some reason...has been turned into a monster..." Jun responded.

"A monster? What kind of monster?" Shokei asked.

"You do realize that you are ruining the flow of this experience, do you?" Jun asked her in a unfriendly tone.

"Oops! Ok, ok! Just continue." Shokei insisted as she keeps quiet.

"Now then," Jun said, concentrating on what she visually sees. "Hmmm...I can see clearly through the eyes of this monster...it seems she has been cursed from an item she wore...this cursed item...it feels permanent that she'll remain in the form for eternity..."

Sounds weird...but still, this person does sound familiar... Shokei thought.

"I'm getting another signal..." Jun said, focusing on her meditation. "Hmm...this human...turned monster...it seems that she has a name..."

  "Hmm..." Shokei listened.

"I'm hearing a name..." Jun said, concentrating on her vision. "This person's name...Marie..."

  Shokei gasped a bit.

"This Marie...she has been the Werecat all along..." Jun finished.

"Are you serious?" Shokei asked her.

"This isn't fiction young one." Jun said. "My thoughts are exactly what I'm picturing through psyching reading. This is really happening in reality."

Shokei sighed. "Please, go on." She insisted.

"Hold on! I'm getting something!" Jun piped up as a wave of concentration hits her.

Shokei opens her mouth, not saying anything. She closed as she gave the fortune teller to speak.

"I'm...receiving another vision of your friend..." Jun said. "...it looks as if...Marie is in danger. Someone has been watching her...and you aren't there to save her..."

This can't be real, right? Shokei thought to herself. She pressed her lips as she hoped to hear more.

"...you can open your eyes now." Jun tells Shokei.

"Huh?" Shokei opens her eyes and asked. "That's it? Was there anything else?"

"Unfortunately, I've exhausted my focus." Jun said. "That was all that I can vision up to the point where it was fading away."

  "Ah." Shokei slightly nodded.

"Jun isn't kidding with her psychic powers." Mariko tells Shokei. "What she visions through her sights while working her fortune telling magic, she knows what's happening out there in the real world."

"In other words, she saw what she visioned through my thoughts and then seek out what she saw in her point of view."

"Absolutely." Jun said. "I am a psychic reader. I see things. I know what I've saw through a perspective vision. I can read through the thoughts of someone that I have never met but detail what someone is going through."

"And that's why they call you the Visionary." Shokei finished.

"Exactly..." Jun nodded. "Everything that I saw is all true. Every trace of memory that I've saw through your friend is no illusion. It's all in the mind from what I see."

Shokei blinks as she hears the words from the fortune teller.

"Is it too te for me to save Marie?" Shokei asked.

"No." Jun said. "As long as she's out there, there is a chance that she'll learn how to survive out in the forest. It's best not to go after her. An unknown figure is about to take her in custody."

"Ohhh..." Shokei felt concerned for her ally's safety.

"Hey..." Shokei felt Mariko's hand touching hers to get her attention. "I'm sure that you will see Marie's face again."

"I hope so." Shokei said, looking down.

"My work here is done for now..." Jun said. "You must leave as I have to close up for the day."

"All right." Mariko said, turning. "C'mon Shokei. Let's leave."

"Thanks for reading my fortune." Shokei tells Jun.

The fortune teller nodded as she sees her and Mariko leaving her tent.

"Anyways..." Mariko turned to face Shokei. "I want to show you more around Indum while we're at it."

  "Really?" Shokei asked.

"Yeah...but just for a bit, ok?" Mariko said.

  "No problem." Shokei said.

The pair takes off as they went out to explore Indum.

During that time, Rei and her group are taking a break from strolling through Indum. They are sitting down on a bench at the town's small park. All three are spectating as they hear kids becoming learners of magic. Each of them is showing off their skills as they are learning magic together. As the kids showed off their magic, Lei noticed the expression on Rei's face. She saw her looking quiet.

"Rei...what's wrong?" Lei called out to her and asked.

"Hmm?" Rei turned to see Lei breaking the silence. "What do you want?"

"Looks like something is bothering you." Lei said with a curious look.

"Nah! There's nothing bothering me." Rei said. "I'm just checking out how these kids are showing off their magic."

"I see." Lei said. "I felt concerned for you. You looked troubled...or perhaps, something else is on your mind."

Rei hears this and shakes her head. Lei turned her attention to the kids as they show off their magical abilities. Matokai is resting on the bench as she has her eyes closed. Ohelio sleeps peacefully as it takes a nap. Rei sighed as she felt bored for a moment. She turned her attention to Lei.

"Hey, I really wanted to tell you a story of what happened back in my hometown of Malluraea." Rei said.

  "What's that?" Lei asked.

"I remember..." Rei tells her. "A long time ago, I remember a terrible crime scene that occurred far from where our vilge was. I can never forget how an young girl was being abducted by a mysterious creep that was put inside a cabin."

Lei pipes up as she shows interest.

"Tragically, the child was killed by fire while being trapped inside that cabin."

"Woah..." Lei said with surprise. "That's...horrible."

"It's a sick story." Rei said. "It became the most tragic and criminal act that happened in Malluraea."

"Did...did they even found out who really murdered that child?" Lei asked. "Did they catch the killer?"

"No actually..." Rei shakes her head. "If I remember, the child was assaulted and killed by a fire. The people were trying to find any remains of her body. There was no such luck."

  "I see." Lei said.

"That's terrible." Matokai said as she heard the whole story. "I can't imagine being harmed and then engulfed in fmes in a terrifying situation."

"Same." Lei said. "I...really wouldn't be in the shoes of that poor victim."

"It's a true story." Rei tells them. "Its painful on how someone's life was destroyed by a monster."

"Is that why you were quiet for a moment?" Lei asked.

  "Yeah." Rei nodded.

"So sad..." Matokai said with a sigh.

"Anyways..." Lei yawned as she stretched out her arms. "I'm feeling tired. Where did Shokei and the rest of the party went off to?"

"I wondered the same thing too." Rei said. "If only I knew where Shokei have went off with Mariko..."

Shokei and Mariko are continuing their exploration of Indum. Shokei is given a tour from Mariko as the young witch was showing her a few various pces that they passed by.

"And over here is...ehhh..." Mariko paused.

  "What's the matter Mariko?"

Shokei notice that Mariko came to a sudden halt. She looks ahead and see that there is a school building. The building looks huge and has gates which are closed off to the public. Shokei looks up to read the name of the school.

"Indum Magic Academy..." Shokei mentioned the school's name and sees the tag line. "Where magic users can become full-fledged immortals."

Mariko remained quiet as she stared at the school.

"What a name for a magical school." Shokei said. She looked at Mariko. "But...why did you pause all of a sudden?"

Shokei looks down on Mariko's face. She did not appear to be happy as the young witch took a deep breath and sighed. Shokei waited for her response.

"...I have to admit...I used to attend this school..." Mariko said sadly. "I...I was kicked out..."

"Huh?" Shokei said, hearing a different tone from the witch, and asked. "Why did you got kicked out of this academy?"

  "Well...it's hard to expin but..."

"Say isn't that the witch that tried her best to be pro at magic?"

Mariko was interrupted and she and Shokei turned to see a group of female students, in magician attire, approaching her.

"What brings you back here mer?" One of the females rudely asked her. "Oh right! You can't control your magic so well that your time was up."

"Oho! I recall a time when her spell was going hyper speed, all thanks to her stupid time magic." Another female said at her.

"Your pathetic magic was really a waste of time..." A third female tells her. "Golly, all she can do is to teach her silly time magic rather than real magic."

Mariko hears the words coming from the girls as she shields her eyes with her hat. Shokei hears the insults, and she stood up for the witch to prevent further insults towards Mariko.

"Who's this blonde?" The lead female asked her. "Is this your personal bodyguard? Oh! I certainly don't want to be sin by some badass that's going to give me one hell of a time."

"Whoever you are, you came to the wrong turf to mess with." The second female tells Shokei. "You don't even know her. And I can't believe you're wasting your time with this scker that can't do magic right. Why you bother protecting her when she can't defend herself?"

"Seems that you twats are really killing time insulting my friend here." Shokei tells them. "If you're looking for trouble, you found it."

"What? You're looking to fight us?!" The lead female barked at Shokei. "Just remember! We're the elites that attended this academy! If you think you can deal with The Cobalt Sisters, you came to the wrong area."

"Besides," The third female takes her wand out and points directly at Shokei. "We'll be sure to school your arse with our definition of magic!!"

"Quit picking on her and leave her alone." Shokei tells the trio. She nearly has her hand on her sword.

"Really?!" The lead takes her staff out and threatened Shokei. "Looks like we'll teach blondie locks not to threaten us!"

  "That's enough!!"

A voice called out to the group. Shokei turned and saw Jun the fortune-teller intervening the scene. She comes to the middle as she is protecting both sides from causing a fight.

"No violence! Please!" Jun pleaded. "Do you know what will happen if you dare to use magic in this town?"

"Jun..." Shokei tried to say something and then looks back at Mariko.

Mariko said nothing as she felt bothered by all this. Not willing to feel humiliated any further, she grits her teeth and makes a run for it.

"M-Mariko?!" Shokei called out to her, seeing her running away. "Mariko?! Where you're going?!"

Mariko continues to run further as she has teardrops in her eyes and her teeth clenched. Shokei goes after her as she keeps up to follow her through the forest.

What in the world?! Where are you running off to?! I must find out!
