  (He Took Her Away)

  D’Arcy’s POV

  .

  Driving into the school garage, I parked my car in the reserved space, killing the engine and alighting the car.

  Opening the back seat, I picked out my pack, ready to leave when another car drove in. I didn’t pay more attention to it; I know who owns the car anyway.

  “Hey, bro,” Gary called out, stepping out of his car. Oops, he didn’t come with his bodyguards today; perhaps he just felt like driving himself to school. The Gary I know is found of showing off that he is the prince of this city, how immature he is.

  I didn’t want to give him a listening ear; perhaps he was back with his threat, telling me to leave Emerald alone and all that. I rolled my eyes, still walking away, but was surprised when he ran after me, blocking my way. He had a smiling face on

  “Hey. I was calling you” he stated, raising his hands up. I scoffed

  “And I decided not to answer; what’s the big deal?” I snapped. He frowned

  “Come on Dave, you shouldn’t act like this..I know that you are a good guy. Look, you might think I’m here for Emerald again, but nope. I think you deserve her better.

  And mind you, I have gotten a girlfriend who I love, and she loves me back” he wore a genuine smile. I heave a sigh, wondering why he stopped me then

  “Ok..that’s nice to hear; congratulations on getting a new girlfriend,,” I muttered sarcastically. I can bet he didn’t notice though.

  “So why did you stop me”

  “Erm..I just wanted to invite you to my birthday party. See, I’m sorry for how I have been treating you, really sorry. I don’t mind being your friend too.

  The fact that I was jealous and angry at the fact that you are really close to Emerald made me that way. And after I caught you both kissing at your garden, I was also sad that I wouldn’t have a chance with her.

  But I’m over her now, please accept my invitation; I will be glad if you attend.” He stated, bringing out a card from his pack back.

  I shrugged and collected it, he smiled

  “So are you gonna come..it will be held in the popular club, everything you need to know about the venue and time is in the card” he rushed his words. I furrowed my brow, pretending to be thinking

  “I will…that’s if I have no appointment that same day…but let’s see, I will just try to make it,” I noted. He seemed enthralled by my words

  “Thanks, bro, I really appreciate” he stated, stretching his hand for a handshake, which I gladly shook

  “You are welcome,” I replied and watched him leave. I stared at the card once again, before tucking it into my bag.

  I hope he is being genuine with everything, else I won’t hesitate to chop off his head if he tries anything funny. He will surely regret having a beast at his party.

  “Haahaa” I chuckled at my own words.

  LATER IN THE DAY~

  I decided to visit Emerald after school hours. She went to visit her aunt who gave birth that morning, so she skipped school for today, and I missed her presence so badly.

  She is the main reason why I registered in her school; I am already done with college in my kingdom, and I have nothing more to study.

  I rang the doorbell twice, and the door was opened at the second ring, revealing Emerald’s mum. She had a smile on her face on seeing me

  “Good afternoon ma’am” I greeted with a smile

  “Hey Dave…how are you” She asked. Yeah, she knows who I am, but I don’t know if Emerald has introduced me as her boyfriend yet. But I’m planning to do that soon.

  “I’m fine ma”

  “That’s good…as you can see, I’m about to go out, but Daniel is in; you can tell him to call out Emerald, ok?” She muttered; I paved the way for her to pass, nodding my head. She already knows that I came for Emerald, I mean, who else will I come for?

  “Bye ma’am” I replied

  “Just call me mum..okay” She stated with a wide smile. I think I get the message now, Emerald already told her about me. That’s good by the way, perhaps she has already accepted me to be her daughter’s boyfriend, and

  “Ok mum..” I started, and the word sounded strange to me. I haven’t called anyone mum in my life before, not even my stepmother.

  I stepped into the house and met Daniel, her brother, stuffing his mouth with popcorn and watching an action movie on the TV. He turned to look when he noticed my entrance.

  “Hey, lover boy,” he called out with a wide grin; perhaps he knows too.

  “Hey Dan” I replied going to sit opposite him

  “Came to see someone” he teased, winking. I rolled my eyes and laughed out

  “Why the tease bro”

  “Nahh..just love teasing a lot. So she finally accepted to have a boyfriend after her last breakup. Damn, guy, if you break her heart as her ex did, then you are gonna hear from me,” he warned, looking serious.

  Well, I didn’t know anything about her ex, we haven’t talked to that extent, so I am as confused as ever

  “Oh…really” I stated. He frowned

  “Don’t tell me she didn’t tell you about her past relationship and what that idiot did to her” He stated. I shook my head

  “Fine…now I know that I talk too much” He chuckled

  “She is in the best position to say anything.”

  I shrugged

  “So what about you…no chick”

  “Wait did you just say chick…do you call my sister a chick too?” He snarled jokingly, I laughed out

  “No…not at all” “Phew” he breathes out

  “Yeah..about me. I have no one bro…though I’m crushing on someone so bad, I think I love her too, but I just can’t walk up to her”

  “You ain’t man enough?”

  “Not that…she is with someone else. You might know her. She attends the same school as you and Emerald. Someone very close” he explained. I thought for a while, trying to get who he was talking about.

  “She is dating the prince” he dropped the bombshell. I frown

  “Rose?” I asked. He nodded

  “Wow…Rose is a good and pretty girl, go for her, just tell her about your feelings and that’s all”

  He rolled his eyes

  “She has a boyfriend”

  “No, she doesn’t, didn’t Emerald tell you?” I asked

  “She doesn’t even know about my crush on her friend, and did you just say that she isn’t dating Gary anymore”

  I nodded

  “Seriously? I mean, you ain’t joking right?”

  “Nope I’m not; Emerald told me they broke up”

  “Wow…that’s kind of good news, you know. I have been crushing on her for the past year, and I still don’t know how to walk up to her. I will do that soon” I grinned, taking another handful of the popcorn.

  “You want some” He pointed to it, and I shook my head

  “Nope”

  “Yea…I know what you want, just go meet her upstairs, she is in her room. I don’t need to tell you the direction, just guess,” he stated; I stood up to my feet, smirking. He wouldn’t know that I have spent the night in her room before

  “And don’t be too loud at it,” he yelled after me; I turned to give him this funny look, understanding what he meant.

  “Bad guy” I resorted. He laughed

  Lazarus stepped into the castle, but couldn’t find Drusilla. He trailed her by her scents to the garden and met her there sitting in front of a table with her hands placed on it.

  She seems to be sketching something on a notepad. He was behind her, so he couldn’t see what she was doing until he moved closer.

  She was so engrossed in what she was doing that and didn’t notice him until his smell hit her nose

  She quickly tried closing the pad and cleaning her tears in the process, but Lazarus had already caught a glimpse of what she was drawing. Drusilla is fond of sketching; she does it a lot in her free time.

  But this is the first time he will see her crying and doing what she loves so much. He suddenly got the message; she was drawing a baby that looked like the one he raised years ago.

  “You are back…how was it” She asked, trying to ease the tension, wearing a smile on her face. He looked at her sadly, drawing closer to sitting on the bench beside her. He tried taking the notepad from her, but she disagreed with it

  “No…Lazarus…”

  “Please…let me have a look” he pleaded, pulling it out before she could insist. She sighed as the threatening tears came out willingly

  Lazarus stared at the picture of a little baby in the pad. Drusilla is still good with her skills. It’s been years now, but she still has a clear picture in her mind. She drew her perfectly so that anyone would have recognized it.

  “I know you miss her” He stated. She nodded

  “Then why are you preventing me from telling her about you, from bringing her here,” He asked, getting pissed

  “No…no…she is safe with you”

  “That’s not it, It’s been two hundred years, and she has been believing my lies”

  “Then let it be that way for now. I know that I am a coward, a bad mother, but…I just don’t know how to face her now. Let’s just settle everything and make things right for now. I won’t hesitate to reveal myself”

  “You are not a bad mother Drusilla..you have been a good mother to me, despite not being the same blood as you”

  She smiled out of tears

  “And you have been a good son to me, my child too. You took her as your sister and made her feel secure when she had no one for her.

  I owe you a lot, Lazarus. You have played the role of my dead son in her life. You became the brother she lost and never knew about.” She muttered. He pulled her into a tight hug

  “It’s ok when things are made right, then I won’t hesitate to bring her to you. I am tired of leaving her in the dark.

  I will be leaving to go check on her now; Logan sent me a message stating that it’s important,,” he noted. She broke the hug and stared at him weirdly

  “Hope there is nothing wrong. Hope my child is safe” She rushed her words

  “That’s what I’m about finding out, I hope so. But if anything goes wrong, I promise to fight it off. But will need your help. The witch, Lottie, has agreed to help me.” he stated, explaining all that had happened with Lottie and the witch she possessed

  “That is strange; how did she do that? That spell hasn’t been used for a long time”

  “Yes…but if anything should go wrong, I would like you to go and watch over her body. You will go in as a maid.”

  He explained in detail how she would carry out her job, telling her the floor where Lottie’s room was and the spell he used to lock it.

  “I will just unlock it, I know that spell” She responded

  “Ok…thanks…I will take my leave now.” He whispered, placing a peck on her forehead, and turned to leave.

  Lazarus checked his phone again seeing another message from Logan. This time, he sent an address of where they were to meet.

  He sighed, wondering why Logan wanted him to come to that location. He had been there before, and that place was nothing but a forest.

  He got there in no time, seeing Logan standing some meters away in a hoodie, with his hand tucked in the jogger’s pocket.

  “And why will you ask us to meet at this location” He yelled out for him to hear, walking closer, while trying to dodge some branches of trees covering his way.

  “He took her away from here” He replied coldly, as Lazarus paused, trying to get what he said.

  “What do you mean? Who took who?”

  “Onyx….he took Celeste away,” Logan replied, trying to go straight to the point; there is no need to waste more time. Lazarus needs to make a move

  “Onyx….onyx…” He whispered repeatedly, as flashes of many years ago started coming into his mind.

  How Onyx chased him and Celeste when she was just a baby into the evil forest, trying to kill them after he had killed his parent.

  How did he managed to escape without knowing how? Perhaps the goddess had come to his rescue then because he wasn’t a match for Onyx.

  Now that same Onyx is back for the girl he had managed to hide from him for two centuries. He had taken her away and would finalize what he had started a long time ago

  This thought kept coming into Lazarus’ head; he was clearly oblivious to his environment, of the fact that his claws were already fully out without his doing, his eyes turning the danger sign, red, without his wish and his fangs giving way.

  His vampire feral took the better part of him, as he roared out in fury, clenching his fist, making his claws pierce into his palm.

  Nature was forced to obey him; the tree twirled its branches in the air, causing the birds in it to fly out. The animals around scurried out of that arena, to avoid being the prey to the blood taste predator.

  The hunters at the far end of the jungle heard the roar and ran for their dear life; they didn’t wanna take the risk of prying on the animal that roared. They could only place their hands on one thing: it’s either a werewolf or vampire.

  Logan only watched on, taking steps backward. He could feel danger oozing out of Lazarus. He raised his head to look at Logan who was already meters away. Lazarus had already changed into his vampire form, looking as deadly as ever.

  “We leave for Vampic Fall….now,” He growled; Logan nodded.
