She Followed Me Home…

In the previous chapter, we saw that Haruki adopted a cat—the same one he had seen in the jungle and ter sitting on the wall when he was returning home. Now, he encountered it again near the amusement park’s exit gate, where it seemed to be following him. Haruki decided to take it home. But what exactly is the mystery behind this cat? Is it just an abandoned stray with no owner, or could it actually be Sabrina, as the hints suggest?

Haruki was walking home with the white cat, talking to it along the way. However, he suddenly noticed something strange—the scent he had smelled when he was with Sabrina was the same scent coming from this cat.

Haruki: "Uh... Kittie, you remind me of someone. You know, I met a girl today... She was just as cute as you. Hehe. And your scent is exactly the same as hers… Could it be that you are actually Sabrina? Haha, no way."

The cat suddenly became nervous and looked up at Haruki, as if afraid that its secret was about to be discovered.

Haruki: "Ahaha, I’m just kidding. You wouldn’t understand what I’m saying anyway. Just go ahead and sleep; we’re almost home… (I wonder how Mom will react. I’ve brought home so many adorable cats before, and she rejected all of them. Let’s see what happens with this one… Whatever happens, I’ll deal with it.)"

By the time Haruki arrived home, it was already 7 PM, and the streets were dark. There was no one outside, only the warm glow of lights from the houses. A light summer breeze blew through the neighborhood, and the dim moonlight added to the peaceful night atmosphere. If the streetlights were turned off, it would be almost impossible to see anything.

The cat, curled up in Haruki’s arms, was sleeping so peacefully that it looked like it hadn't slept in years. It seemed to be enjoying being with him, and Haruki felt the same way.

Haruki: "Aww, you look even cuter when you're sleeping…"

The cat shifted slightly in his arms, tilting its face upward as it continued sleeping. Haruki found the moment adorable.

A few steps ter, he reached his house and rang the doorbell. After a few moments, he heard his mother’s voice.

Mom: "I’m coming!" (She opened the door and turned back inside, not noticing the cat.) "Haruki, why are you so te? You said you’d be back soon from the amusement park. Hmm… wait, tell me honestly, you didn’t eat anything there, right? I’ve prepared dinner, so come in quickly."

Haruki hesitated. He wanted to tell her about the cat, but she was too busy talking. Finally, he spoke up.

Haruki: "Mom… Someone else is with us."

  His mother turned in surprise.

  Mom: "Who?"

Then, she looked down at Haruki’s hands and noticed the cat for the first time.

Mom: "Haruki?! Where did this come from?"

Haruki: "I'm sorry, Mom… I found her on the street, all alone in the traffic. I was worried something might happen to her, so I brought her home." (This story was a complete lie.)

Mom: "Give her to me… Did she get hurt anywhere?" (She suddenly took the cat from Haruki, and the cat woke up, blinking sleepily. It cutely pced one of its paws on Haruki’s mom’s nose and let out a soft meow.)

Haruki: "That’s it… I’m done for… She’s going to kick her out now…" (Haruki was nervous.)

Mom: "Awwww! She’s staying with us from now on. She’s just too adorable!"

  Haruki: "W-What?!"

Haruki was in complete shock. His mother, Zenith, never liked keeping cats at home. But now, she was acting like this cat was her own daughter. This was completely unexpected.

His mom happily held the cat and introduced herself.

Mom: "Hey, little baby, I’m Haruki’s mom, Zenith. It’s nice to meet you! Now tell me, Haruki didn’t annoy you by making that pspsps sound, did he? Are you hungry? Do you want some fish or something else?"

  Haruki just stood there, stunned.

Haruki (thinking): "What is going on?! Mom never lets me keep a cat, but now she’s treating this one like family?! This is so weird…"

Haruki: "Mom, aren’t you going to throw her out?"

Mom: "Are you crazy? She’s so adorable! Look at her innocent little face! Who would abandon her in this big, scary world?"

  Haruki sighed in confusion.

Haruki: "Mom, please don’t kiss her so much. She might run away from you out of frustration."

Mom: "Why shouldn’t I? She smells so good, and she’s so clean! But did you check if she already has an owner?"

Haruki: "Ah… No, Mom. She seemed all alone to me. She probably doesn’t belong to anyone." (How could he tell her that he had seen this cat many times before in strange pces?)

Mom: "Alright then! From now on, she’s part of our family!"

Haruki’s mom officially adopted the cat. From now on, they would all live together. It would be interesting to see what happens next.

Mom: "Come on, let’s eat. Dinner is ready!"

  Haruki: "Mom, I’m not hungry."

Mom: "Fine. I’ll eat with my sweetie then."

Haruki’s mom and the cat went to the dining table, while Haruki headed to his room.

Haruki: "Phew… Well, at least one problem is solved. Mom adopted the cat! Yay! I finally have a pet!"

He opened the door to his room and pced Sabrina’s bck hairband on the table. But as soon as he looked up, his eyes widened in shock. Sitting on his bed… was Sabrina.

Haruki froze, and his manga book slipped from his hands onto the floor.

Haruki: "S-Sabrina?! Y-You?! How… and when did you get here?!"

  Sabrina: "Umm… Don’t be scared. Come closer. I’ll expin everything… Haru…"

How did Sabrina enter Haruki’s room? How long had she been there? And what was she doing? What do you think? In the next chapter, Sabrina’s true identity and real purpose will finally be revealed.
