Chapter 9: Friendly Call

The warm sun on me, pulled me from a deep sleep gradually, sadly Serafina was gone but based on the note she had left me she would be back in the mid-afternoon and advised me to get plenty to eat and drink after waking up. I checked the clock and noted it was about nine in the morning and that Serafina had told me she had css about now, but she was in her final year at one of the local colleges.

Based on the way my stomach rumbled and the way my bowels and bdder were feeling, I needed to use the restroom not to mention the shower. I quickly got out of bed and headed for the bathroom to get washed up.

I froze as I went through the door and studied the rge bathroom, it had twin sinks, a standup shower with multiple heads, as well as a rge whirlpool that could easily two or three people. I quickly located the toilet as my need to use it quickly overwhelmed my awe of the bathroom.

Thirty minutes ter, I walked out of the bathroom and grabbed some sleep pants and shirt Sara had shown me st night before I headed down to the kitchen. Unlike st night, I could hear people out and about working.

I was careful as I went into the kitchen which revealed three people up and about, the man who was cooking smiled and waved, "Good morning sir, I am Tim, the chef, and person in charge of the house staff. This is Adriana Lima, head of the daytime security team." I looked over at the woman, based on her size and smell I caught she wasn't human. Tim on the other hand was human at least as far as I could tell, "This is Lena, she helps me with cooking but primarily cleans up around the house." he pointed to the other woman in the room who gave me a nervous wave. I smiled, "Hi, I am Aaron...Victor Bck apparently, not Aaron Jones, thanks for the warm welcome. Who do I need to talk to about getting a ride into town? I need to do some shopping since none of my old clothing will fit very well." I pointed out.

Adriana chuckled, "Yes, the Intergration growth spurt will force you to buy a new wardrobe, I will make a call and arrange it. I should advise you, that you will need some suits for formal occasions as well, do you have any specific locations you want to go to?" the woman asked as I tried to decipher her accent.

It had a Spanish tint to it, but not Mexico Spanish, "No, nothing specific at all. I will just need everything and something to run around in if you have it somewhere." I told her before I turned my focus to Tim.

The cook smiled at my unbidden question, "Breakfast is coming, Lena will clean up your room. Now I should let you know the ground rules, sir, we are employed by House Aldbridge, but we are not members of it. Do you understand?" Tim asked while Lena scurried off.

I shook my head as I sat down at the isnd in the middle of the kitchen, "That means they have been vetted by the security branch of the House, but as they are not members, they are protected from being used in any way by any House member and by extension you. In other words, manage your thirst and hormones, don't expect either craving to be fulfilled from them, sir." Adriana expined as she sipped her coffee.

I frowned, "Why do people expect me to go around biting and humping people? I am not some frat boy on a bender." I commented as I looked for the pot and mug to get my cup of coffee.

The two chuckled, "Newborns usually aren't rational and are usually governed by the need to feed and fuck, but you're the first Awakened Pureblood in three years and first in the Midwest Region, so we are taking this carefully as we have no precedent." Adriana expined their caution.

I finally found the pot and mug, "Understood, but every time I eat I have been getting blood as well and my Blood Thirst is sitting at...' I quickly checked my HUD and grimaced, 'Eighteen percent, yes I need blood, but I am not hungry for blood enough to attack random people I come across." I told them.

Adriana just looked at Tim who moved towards the small fridge filled with bags of blood, "Aside from shopping, I need to stop at an Auction House Annex to put an item up for sale. Sara also said I could speak to someone about starting a training regime?" I pressed them.

Adriana shook her head, "Any training will have to wait until after you get the 'all clear' from the doc about your physical status, until then you eat, rest, and recover. We have a whole library of movies here, the office has a small library of books, you can walk all over the estate grounds if you want or we can take you wherever you want just nothing too physically demanding." she stated firmly.

I grimaced; I hated sitting on my ass like this, but I also knew they were right. "Fine, what are you and where are you from?" I asked earning a slight smile.

Adriana was a looker, and the slight smile broke the tough exterior, "I am from Brazil, transferred up here about three years ago, and got recruited into House Aldbridge third team which has been reassigned to your daytime security detail as a whole. As for what I am, Tiger-Kin." she informed me as she shifted partially, bones cracked and reformed as fur, tail, and ears appeared all over her body while Adriana's face took an inhuman shape before it melted away back to what I considered the norm.

I nodded, impressed, "All I got are teeth and fingernails." I told her, causing both of them to chuckle and shake their heads.

"No, when you are emotional, your eyes will shift as well. For those that are turned, their eyes turn bright red while Pureblood's eyes turn bck and seem to absorb the surrounding light, and no we don't know why you are different just that you are." Adriana expined.

I opened my mouth to respond but had nothing and assumed it had something to do with the magical virus within Purebloods. "Ok, can you tell me anything about how Marcus's meeting with the other leaders of the local Houses went?" I inquired.

Adriana shrugged her shoulders, "He is alive, and we are not at war, so there is that. Aside from that, I don't know but he had two security teams on you rotating between day and nighttime, so take that as you will." she offered before producing a phone and putting it on the counter. I looked at it, then her, "This is your new phone, it has my number and the night leader's, as well as Sara's and Marcus's number. Don't give that number out to anyone unless you trust them. It's secure and clean, keep it with you at all times." she instructed as I continued to sip my coffee as Tim arrived with a ptter of food and a cup of blood.

I thanked the chef who waved it off as I tore into the omelet and moaned as I tasted it, it had a nice mix of vegetables, meat, and cheese while being big enough to cover nearly half of the pte. "This is really good!" I told Tim as he added a bowl of fruit and a cup of juice as well to top off everything.

The chef chuckled, "Get used to it, you will be eating a lot of my food in the coming days sir. Now do you want anything else?" I shook my head as I eyed everything.

Then I turned my focus back towards Adriana, "I need to contact my wyer, his name is Sam Williams, and he works for Adrian, Cartwright, and Jones out of the Austin office, I need to make sure he is aware that I am alive and the changes I underwent." I told her.

She smiled, "We already checked him and the firm out, they have been cleared and have several Demi-Human clients, so we won't try to persuade you to transfer everything to someone else. I know you have a history with your friend, but you will be here in Dals for the foreseeable future, see if he can recommend someone from their Dals or Fort Worth offices." Adriana advised as I eyed the phone and unlocked it with a simple tap.

Thankfully I had memorized Sam's office number during the divorce and quickly dialed it, "Good morning, Sam Williams office, I am Shawna how can I help you?" her voice made me smile.

At least some things haven't changed, "Hey Shawna, it's Aaron, I need to speak to Sam. Is he free now or does he have to call me back?" I asked as I shoveled in another mouthful of omelet as I waited in silence.

It only took a few moments for her to respond, "First, congratutions Mr. Jones on surviving the Intergration process, second I am putting you through now please wait one moment." Shawna stated with some warmth.

I waited patiently for a few seconds before I heard a click as Sam picked up, "How are you feeling dumbass?" I chuckled at the comment as Adriana cocked her head as she stared at the phone in surprise.

I waved her off, "First off, I survived, but a lot changed because of it. I went through an Awakening." I told him.

There were a few moments of silence, then a couple of curses before he settled down, "What did you end up as?" was his cautious reply.

Sam knew everything and why I had done this, "Pureblood Vampire and the internal politics is...dangerous." I expined causing more curses from Sam before he quieted down. I waited patiently, "Yeah, a lot of things are going on and that wasn't the only change, I am up near Dals and Fort Worth, I need someone from your offices up here you trust and make sure the senior partners throw a bonus your way for all this shit." I told him which earned me a chuckle.

Sam grunted, "I have to make a few calls, where can I contact you?" I quickly pulled up the information and rattled it off, 'I will have someone call you after I make some inquiries, and I will make sure the hold on your credit card is removed immediately since I am sure you will need a new wardrobe. It will be gone in an hour, need anything else Aaron?" Sam inquired as I heard him typing away.

I shook my head, "No, take care and if you are up this way any time soon, don't be a stranger." I told him.

Sam chuckled, "Yeah well don't forget us little people otherwise I am going to send Shawna after your ass!" Sam warned before disconnecting the call as I chuckled.

I gnced at Adriana, "That is taken care of, I just need my personal effects." I told her.

She smiled, "It's in your wardrobe, including all the items from the Guild." Adriana quickly informed me as I continued to eat.
