Succubi Chapter 2. System Activation - What is My Css?
I still couldn’t believe what had just happened. One minute, I was just a normal student hoping to get settled in at Archeline Battle Academy, and the next, I was being forcibly enrolled into an all-girls dorm like some kind of mistake in a bad rom-com.
And to make things worse? The House Mother of Scarlet Rose Estate, Lilith Avarosa, was way too amused by my suffering.
As I walked beside Leon, who still had stars in his eyes from whatever brain-melting charm Lilith had put on him, I clenched the stupid form in my hands. My fate was sealed, but at least I could get my system checked and figure out what my css was supposed to be.
I knew staying in an all-girls dorm sounded like every man's dream, but I had a stepsister and lived with her my whole damn life—and she was annoying as hell!
It wasn’t the cute, sibling-banter kind of annoying. No. It was the deliberate psychological warfare kind.
She hogged the bathroom every morning, bsting music loud enough to shake the walls. She used my stuff without asking, then had the audacity to get mad at me for "mispcing" it.
My food? Gone.
My clothes? Borrowed without permission.
My gaming console? Hijacked.
She once locked me out of the house because I didn’t buy her favorite snacks on the way home. And when I retaliated by hiding her makeup, she somehow convinced our parents that I was the vilin.
So yeah, I did not like the idea of staying with a bunch of girls. If they were nice? Good. That’d be fine. But what if they were like my step-sis?
I cursed under my breath.
"Something wrong?" Leon asked, finally tearing his gaze away from whatever daydream fantasy he was having about Lilith.
I let out a slow exhale. "Just realizing I might’ve made a huge mistake."
He snorted. "No kidding. But hey, at least it’s not the streets, right?"
I shot him a look. "That joke's already old."
"Nah, it’s still funny. Also, seriously, why wouldn't you want to live in a mansion full of hot, battle-trained girls?"
"Because I don’t know how this ends, Leon," I muttered, rubbing my face. "Best case scenario, they ignore me. Worst case? I become a target."
Leon ughed, slinging an arm around my shoulder. "C’mon, bro. Maybe they’ll treat you like their brother!"
I paled as I remembered my sister. "That's even worse."
Leon blinked at me, clearly not expecting that reaction. "Dude, how is that worse?"
I groaned, running a hand down my face. "Because I know what having a sister is like. It’s a nightmare. I had to live with mine for years, and it was nothing but psychological torture."
Leon snorted. "It was only little pranks, right?"
"Little pranks?" I shot him a look. "Bro, she made my life a living hell. She stole my food, used my stuff, never knocked before entering my room, and somehow always managed to bme me whenever something went wrong."
Leon hummed. "Sounds rough."
"Rough? That’s an understatement." I sighed, staring up at the academy’s towering halls as we walked. "Now imagine multiple girls. All living in the same house. With me. If they’re anything like my step-sis…" I shuddered. "I’m doomed."
Leon grinned. "Or… maybe they’ll be chill. You never know."
I shot him a deadpan stare. "I hope."
We turned a corner, and the crowd of students around us started to thin out. The deeper we went into the academy halls, the quieter it got.
Leon stretched, gncing around. "So, where exactly are we headed again?"
"Css inspection room," I muttered. "They need to check our system and css affinities before we get officially pced."
"Oh, right. The part where they tell us how overpowered we are."
“You wish!” I ughed.
We reached a set of wide double doors with glowing runes etched into the surface.
"This pce is way too high-tech," Leon muttered, looking around as we entered the next room.
He wasn’t wrong. The moment we stepped inside, the modern setup hit us like a brick wall.
The room looked like something straight out of a futuristic b—walls lined with floating holographic screens, sleek bck flooring with embedded circuits glowing softly beneath our feet, and rows of scanning pods, where students stood as their Systems activated for the first time.
There were Academy staff walking around, directing students to their assigned scanning pods while rge dispys above them showed the four major Houses:
House of Valor – Where all the heroic, knightly types went.
House of Arcana – The pce for mages and schors.
House of Titans – Full of brute-force martial artists and tanky warriors.
House of Saints – Dedicated to healers and support csses.
I eyed the House of Saints' section warily. ‘Let’s hope I don’t end up there.’
Leon stretched his arms. "Alright, let’s see what kind of badass css I get. I’m betting on Arcana or Valor. What about you?"
"I just want something normal," I grumbled, rubbing my temples. "After everything today, I deserve something normal."
Leon chuckled. "Yeah, about that… You live in an all-girls dorm now. Your ‘normal’ days are long gone, buddy."
"Shut up."
A loud beep echoed across the room as one of the pods completed its scan.
"Hell yeah!" A student stepped out, grinning at the dispy above his head.
[Css: Arcane Mage][House of Arcana]
The room buzzed with energy as students got their css assignments one by one. The scanning pods lit up, numbers ticking upward as the System analyzed their potential.
Then, one of the staff members gestured at Leon and me. "Next! Step in."
I exchanged a gnce with Leon. He looked pumped. I felt like I was about to walk into an execution chamber.
Taking a deep breath, he stepped into the scanning pod.
Leon Duskbane
[Css: Lightning Duelist][House of Valor]
Leon pumped his fist. "Hell yeah! I knew it!"
His screen flickered, revealing a breakdown of his stats and skills.
[Thunder Step] – Increases movement speed and reaction time in battle.
[Volt Ssh] – A lightning-infused sword attack.
[Static Guard] – Enhances reflexes against projectiles.
He practically glowed with excitement. "Man, this is gonna be sick!"
I cpped him on the shoulder. "Nice. At least one of us has their life figured out."
Then it was my turn.
A soft, mechanical voice greeted me.
[System Calibration: Initializing…]
The pod hummed as light scanned over me.
[Activating System…]
A glowing holographic screen appeared, my screen loaded.
And I immediately regretted everything.
Evan Drakos
[Css: ???][House of ???]
[System Error. Cannot Assign Cssification.]
I stared.
The screen blinked.
I blinked.
Leon leaned in, frowning. "Uh… bro? Is your system broken?"
I waved my hand frantically through the screen. "No, no, no—this has to be a mistake. Everyone else is getting cool csses!"
Leon gnced at the staff, who was also frowning. "Hey, is this normal?"
The staff member adjusted his gsses, looking at my results. "That… shouldn’t happen. Everyone is assigned a css through the system."
"Yeah, well, apparently I broke it!"
The screen flickered again, revealing my starting skills.
[Vital Surge] – Instantly heals minor to moderate injuries. Removes exhaustion and minor debuffs such as fatigue or dizziness.
[Aether Ssh] – Unleashes a high-speed ssh of pure energy. Weapon required.
[Arcane Burst] – Releases a shockwave of arcane energy, dealing magic-based damage and causing a stagger effect on all enemies hit.
[Protection] – Reduces all incoming damage by 40% for 6 seconds.
"Wait, wait, wait—" I waved my hands around like I was having a breakdown. "I have healing. I have a sword attack. I have magic. And I have a tanking skill?!"
Leon’s eyebrows shot up. "…Dude. What the hell are you?"
I threw my hands up. "I don’t know! My system is supposed to tell me that!"
The staff member rubbed his temples, muttering under his breath. "This is highly irregur… we may need to run a deeper analysis…"
Meanwhile, students who had already finished were gathering around, staring at my screen.
"Wait, why does he have four different skill types?"
"Is he a hybrid css?"
"That’s not a hybrid, that’s a full-blown mess."
I scowled. "Gee, thanks for the compliment."
Leon snorted. "You’re a healing tank combat mage all in one person."
I threw my head back in frustration. "WHY?!"
The system had one job. Just give me a css like a normal student! How hard could that be?!
The staff finally sighed. "Look, for now, just proceed as is. Your results are... inconclusive. But we’ll monitor your progress."
I gawked at him. "That’s it? That’s your solution? Just go with it?"
"Pretty much."
Leon ughed. "Hey, on the bright side, at least you’re unique?"
I shot him a look of pure betrayal. "Do NOT try to spin this into a positive thing."
He patted my shoulder. "Too te. This is officially hirious."
I groaned, dragging my hands down my face.
This was an absolute disaster.
First, I got thrown into an all-girls dorm. Now, my System couldn’t even cssify me.
What was next?
