Chapter 19. Priorities

  Succubi Chapter 19. Priorities

I stepped out of Lilith’s room, expecting the hallway to be empty—expecting some peace after everything that just happened. I was wrong. The moment I shut the door behind me, I was met with the sight of all the other girls already waiting outside.

Some stood with arms crossed, watching me with unreadable expressions. Some sat casually on the railing of the second-floor balcony, looking more amused than anything. And then there was Sera, floating mid-air, asleep.

No, seriously. She was just hovering there, her body sprawled as if she was lying on an invisible bed, her hair cascading down in zy waves. A tiny snore escaped her lips.

What the hell was this? A goddamn intervention?

Gdia, who was sitting on the railing, was the first to speak. “So,” she mused, nibbling on a piece of chocote, “we all heard what you said about feeding Lilith.”

Val, standing near the wall, added, “Does that include us?”

I huffed, crossing my arms. “Yeah.” I scanned the group, noticing how none of them looked particurly surprised. “You guys don’t want to have sex with other men, so…” I sighed. “I guess as long as you’re fine with me, I don’t mind.”

Val’s eyes gleamed, a satisfied smirk spreading across her lips. “Oh, I don’t mind sleeping with Anomaly.”

I cringed immediately. “Okay, first of all, don’t call me that when you’re talking about sex. And second—I am not a collectible item. Don’t start treating this like some damn experiment.”

Val chuckled, looking far too entertained. “Hmm~ But you are rare, Evan.” She took a step forward, brushing a gloved finger under my chin. “Wouldn’t it be fun to see what makes you… tick?”

I gave her a deadpan look. “Val, I swear to whatever Demon God exists, I will throw you off this balcony.”

Gdia let out a snort, chewing slowly on her chocote bar. “I’d pay to see that.”

Sera, still floating above us, suddenly yawned in her sleep. “Mmm… he has… good energy… I approve…”

Rivy arched an eyebrow. “Did you just judge him in your sleep?”

Sera hummed, still half-asleep. “Mhm. It’s warm." She shifted slightly in the air, like she was rolling over in an invisible bed. "Nice to sleep next to.”

  I blinked. “Wait. That’s a thing?"

Rivy let out a sigh, rubbing her temple. “She means your energy is calm and strong. When succubi sleeps next to someone like that, we don’t get nightmares or interruptions.”

I stared. “And that’s supposed to make me feel better?”

Sera cracked one eye open, her gaze zily sweeping over me. “You’re basically a walking, talking luxury bed.”

I exhaled, running a hand down my face. “Fantastic. So, I’m a food source AND a mattress?”

Val grinned. “Oh, you’re much more than that, Evan.”

I didn’t like how she said that.

Evelyn, who had been silent until now, finally spoke. “I assume this means you’re okay with taking responsibility for us.”

I turned to her, noticing the way her eyes studied me carefully. Unlike the others, there was no teasing in her tone—just pure, quiet observation.

I sighed. “Yeah. If I’m going to be your source of energy, then I’m also going to make sure none of you get put in danger because of it. I’m a good guy.” Then I remembered something. “Demon. Good demon,” I corrected.

Rivy crossed her arms. “You do realize we’re all demons, right? We’re not some helpless maidens waiting for a knight to save us.”

I smirked. “No, but you’re also not immortal. And I get the feeling you wouldn’t have stuck around Lilith if Hell was safe for you.”

There was a pause. Then, for the first time, Rivy actually smiled—a small, sharp curve of her lips. “You’re not wrong.”

Gdia, still munching on her chocote, tilted her head with a satisfied sigh. “So, we don’t need to worry about food anymore! Nice! I can enjoy human food and demonic food. I will share my human food with you. Just ask me!”

I exhaled, rubbing my temple. “I still don’t know how I feel about being categorized as a meal, but sure. Gd to be of service.”

Val smirked. “Oh, Evan, you’re more than just a meal—you’re a full-course banquet.”

I shot her a deadpan look. “Not helping.”

“ Since you are a human raised…” Evelyn leaned against the railing, arms crossed, her gaze sharpening. “Do you want to know about Hell?”

The atmosphere shifted. The teasing, the amusement—it faded.

I nodded, sensing the tension that suddenly crept into the air. “Yeah. What’s the situation there? How bad is it?”

For a moment, no one spoke. Then, one by one, they started to expin. Evelyn’s eyes darkened. “Hell isn’t what it used to be.”

Rivy sighed, resting her chin on her fist. “The current king rules with absolute control. Anyone who opposes him? Dead. Tortured. Or worse.”

Gdia stopped munching on her chocote, her expression unusually serious. “It’s a dictatorship in the worst way. The strong control the weak, and the strong only serve one—the king.”

Sera, still hovering in the air, opened one eye zily. “He enjoys breaking demons. Not just physically—but mentally. Emotionally. He’s a tyrant. A monster.”

Val crossed her arms, her usual pyfulness gone. “He killed my entire cn.”

  I blinked. “What?”

Her eyes met mine. “My family had power. We had status. And the moment he saw us as a threat?” She snapped her fingers. “Wiped out. I survived because I was… lucky.”

My hands clenched into fists. This wasn’t just bad leadership—this was sughter.

And then Evelyn spoke again. “Lilith’s husband was killed by the king.”

I stilled. I felt my heart drop. “That’s… awful,” I muttered.

The others nodded grimly. Then, a terrifying thought hit me.

‘Wait…’ I slowly lifted my gaze to them. “If the king is my father… Does that mean I’m the child of her husband’s killer?”

The silence that followed was heavy. The girls exchanged gnces. None of them denied it.

Gdia finally spoke, chewing thoughtfully on her chocote. “Luckily, no.” She gestured zily. “If you were his kid? Lilith might have torn you apart the second she could confirm it.”

I exhaled, rubbing the bridge of my nose. “Well, that’s comforting.”

  Rivy scoffed. “Barely.”

Sera yawned, stretching mid-air. “But you’re not him. The system recognized you as a Sovereign. That means you’re… different.”

  Val sighed. “For now.”

Evelyn studied me, her gaze sharp. “What will you do, Evan?”

I frowned. “What do you mean?”

She stepped closer. “Now that you know who you are, what Hell is like… what are you going to do?”

I hesitated. I hadn’t even thought about it. I wasn’t raised in Hell. I didn’t know its people, its ws—but I knew one thing.

I clenched my fists. “I don’t give a damn about being a prince.” My gaze burned with determination. “But if that bastard is ruling like this—if he’s hunting people down and killing them just for existing—then I’m not going to sit back and let him. Guess I need to take back my throne.”

Gdia let out a low whistle. “Well, damn. I like this guy.”

Rivy smirked. “Took you long enough to pick a side.”

Val’s smirk widened. “Oh, Evan, I think I’m starting to really like you.

Sera hummed, floating closer. “Then you’ll need to get stronger.”

  Evelyn nodded. “Much stronger.”

I exhaled. I already knew that. But something in me had already shifted. I wasn’t just going to survive anymore. I was going to win. “I guess I just need to expand my goal then,” I said, my voice steady. “I was thinking about becoming the strongest and most powerful warrior. Now…” My fingers curled into a loose fist. “I just need to expand it—become the strongest demon, kick him from the throne, and maybe…”

I paused. A thought crept in, one I hadn’t dared voice before.

‘Maybe I can meet my real dad after that.’

I swallowed, shoving the thought down. Yeah, no way in hell I was saying that out loud. Instead, I straightened and forced a smirk. “Anyway, first step? Getting stronger.”

Sera floated closer, her lips quirking into a zy grin. “Mmm… I like where this is going.”

Val chuckled. “Oh, Evan, you’re just full of surprises.”

Evelyn’s eyes lingered on me a second longer before she gave a small nod. “Then let’s make sure you have what it takes.”

I let out a long breath, rolling my shoulders. "Alright, I’m done thinking for now. I’m going back to sleep."

Rivy raised an eyebrow, arms still crossed. “But it’s almost morning.”

I blinked, then gnced at the window. The sky was already starting to shift, the darkness giving way to the first hints of dawn.

I groaned. "Change of pns," I muttered, rubbing my temple. "I need to go to the bath and get ready for my css."

Gdia snorted, finishing off the st bite of her chocote. “From world domination to morning csses. Gotta love the priorities.”

Val smirked. “Don’t forget—you're also our official energy source now.”

I shot her a deadpan look. “Yeah, thanks for the reminder.”

Evelyn leaned against the railing, watching me with that same unreadable expression. “Go on, then. But you’d better not sck off.”

I huffed, turning toward my room. “I don’t pn to.”
