“Hey! How come you smell like him? How do you do that?”

  “My smell? Do I smell bad? I didn’t scent myself.”

  “No you smell good like rain! That’s how I found Agnis! I was walking around, and I smelled rain even though it hadn’t rained for a while! And after that he seemed to turn it on and off!”

  “I’m sorry Io, I don’t know what you’re talking about. I don’t smell anything.”

  “He told me to do something if I found someone that smelled like him but I forgot what. Haha!”

  Giana and Io were waiting till it was 10:00 to start fighting the spirit sisters. Io had made short work of the pheasantboar and the Abomination was also no match for Io’s dragonfire.

  “The smell of rain eh? I guess it suits me…”

  “Hey! What do I smell like?!” Ioasked as she got closer.

  Giana could smell fried boar on her as she was still eating some of the fried boar of the day before.

  “You do know that those are illusions that you’re eating right?”

  “Tasty illusions!” Io said and chomped down on more while Giana was observing Io’s gluttonous performance.

  “I will enhance your flames. You can let loose. No need to control yourself around me. I will be fine.”

  “Huh, you’re not attacking? Didn’t you foxes have those strong and pretty flames?”

  “I can’t use them well enough for them to become a threat. I will just make sure you can blow up this mountain!”

  “Yess! We will be good friends!” Io finished her last piece of boar meat and got ready for battle as it was nearing 10:00. Io turned into her dragon form.

  It was a bit early, but Giana started to sing and boost Io’s fire affinity offensively.

  “Yess!”

  “Don’t forget that we have to defeat them on 10:30 so you need to hold on till then!” Giana reminded.

  Io used fire [Dragonbreath] and the whole cave got set ablaze. The spirit sisters were affected, but not to the point where they seemed to panic. One of the sisters killed the fire with strange wind magic. The other started throwing ice around.

  “Huh? Why didn’t my [Dragonbreath] work? How about this! Eat a [Dragondance]!” Io started to fly in a strange pattern and the temperature climbed in the cave. Lava started to drip from the ceiling and walls as the temperature was slowly melting the rocks.

  The spirit sisters responded by huddling together and making a strong ice and wind barrier.

  “Hahaha puny humans! Eat this [Fire Blast]!”

  “Io, we need to wait 27 more minutes!”

  “Eh? So long? Can’t the others hurry up?” Io released the [Fireblast] and toasted the sisters. She started up another [Dragondance].

  Giana’s tail notified her that at this rate, the spirit sisters would get defeated in 3 minutes.

  “Hahaha! Hide all you want behind that shield! Your puny attacks don’t do anything against me!”

  Giana was wondering if her help was needed. The attacks of the sisters were bouncing off Io’s dragon scales. Giana had yet to start with defensive buffs and techniques, but she decided that was unnecessary, so she started to put defensive buffs on the spirit sisters.

  It was different from what she expected, but it seemed she needed to keep the sisters alive for 25 more minutes.

  “Whoa! Giana look! They powered up! Time to increase the heat!” Io’s scales shimmered and the room was slowly turning into a magma chamber. It made Giana think of the adventure she had with Noelle and Agnis in the magma chamber.

  She snapped out of her thoughts and healed the sisters, who were desperately clinging on to life. Io flapped her wings to increase the strength of her fire. Giana switched to another song. She stopped buffing Io and used a song to weaken her fire attacks.

  One of the sisters made an ice barrier which Giana overwrote it with her own ice barrier which was way stronger and blocked a [Draconic Blaze]. The sisters realized by now that Giana was helping them out. Giana apologized to them in her head because she would let them die when the time limit was up.

  “Hahaha! Yes, struggle more! I’m a dragon! Time to blow up this mountain!” Io started another [Dragon Dance] but this one looked different. Giana was sure that this would blow up the mountain and vaporize anything. Her tail notified that she needed to hold on for 12 more minutes. Giana sighed and sucked up all Io’s mana with Agnis’ frost magic. It was done subtly to make it seem as if the sisters did it. An ocean of mana flooded Giana’s system, and she tried to process it. For the first time ever, she felt a bit cold.

  “Whoa! You two are really strong! To think you could counter that! But don’t worry! I’m amazing! I can just do it again!” Io said who had no idea that Giana had sabotaged her.

  Io started to build up mana for more strong attacks, and Giana continued healing the sisters through it and sabotaging Io.

  “Come on just 8 minutes Io! Can you toast them slowly?”

  “Ooh so you’re a sadist too Giana? But I like it! Slow roast it will be!” Io lowered her firepower by a large amount. Giana’s tails notified her that at this pace, the sisters would get defeated at the time limit. Giana sat down and tried to deal with all the extra mana that had flooded her system. She wasn’t aware of this side of frost magic. Pagos had always been known as unstoppable and invincible. She was aware of its identity as Pagos and it was an enormous thorn in the side of the deities.

  She had learned more about Agnis and his magic, but it didn’t make her happy at all. A lot of Pagos users must have died or inconvenienced by this effect. How many individuals are aware that it’s a double-edged sword? It has always been made out to be extremely strong and near unbeatable. Giana was certain that Agnis knows.

  It was 10:30. Io used [Draconic Blaze], defeated the sisters and destroyed the pink root.

  Giana got up and she didn’t feel like she did anything. These sisters weren’t pushovers. It was just that they were fighting a fire dragon. A lot of strong opponents are going to look like pushovers when fighting a mythical or legendary beast.
