"Where am I?"
I had just come out of the house to bring in the shopping and found myself in a dense forest.
"Mhhhmm"
'Ok going to try something.'

As soon as I spoke a screen popped up it had my name and stats all listed.

"Hmm, seems like you get skills for the sins and virtues at 100%"
"Consume, release a shadow to consume an item or corpse to gain stats, abilities and racial boosts, passive ability, food consumed will impart part of the traits of what is eaten, the more you eat the greater the boost when maxed out you with gain the abilities of what is eaten and are able to modify your own appearance using what is consumed. Jack of all trades, all job passives will be debuffed by 20%, job level cap will only count 'Jack of all trades', all jobs will be capped at the current level of 'Jack of all trades', all skills will be work as normal."
'Damn that otherworlder sin and virtue system seems overpowered. Not to mention the unique job Jack of all trades, if each job gives buffs even with the 20% penalty, the more I get the better. This is either a very lucid dream or I have somehow been transported to another world.'
I looked around the area & where I found myself felt light but the further I walked, it seems to weaken and I start to see more beasts so for now I will stick close to where I started and try and make a shelter & get some sleep.
I start by finding a briar bush with berries, I have no idea if they are poisonous or not so I leave them alone. I find the base of the briar bush and find a small path to the middle, I used my belt to close it up. Worst case scenario something was tenacious enough to struggle through 20 metres of tough briars to get to me and eat me. That kind of tenacious behaviour was a death sentence anyway. After I rexed sleep quickly washed over me, I hated shopping so that combined with the situation let me fall asleep.
.·:·.? ?☆??☆? ?.·:·.
I wake up in the morning, thankfully I didn't move too much in my sleep and didn't draw any attention, but now I was stuck. I sigh and think back to what my ability said.
"Thats right! Consume!"
Shadow wrapped around the bush and then slowly the bush melted away as if tiny mouths were eating it away. I check my status and see I now have poison and venom resistance.
"Well, damn."
I look around and consume some more bushes and other pnts for the next few hours. Until I rounded out a couple abilities to see what I am somewhat dealing with.
"It seems only the brambles and berries gave me anything, I feel like the grass is just nutritious grass, same as the other pnts. I can feel the ability doesn't want it though."
I think for a minute before I decide to allow the ability to reject the now mushed up flora. I decide on making a trap, if there is a pnt called rabbit grass, highly likely it can be used to lure rabbits. I dig a very deep hole using some hard tree bark, line it with ft rocks so they can't dig their way out, then I dumped the mush into the bottom and used the wood as a lid allowing a rabbit to get in, but not out. Then weighed it down with the rocks I dug up. I made a spear with some bramble barbs and a branch I found. I learned to just "consume" bits of things. This allowed me to "consume" a few bushes, leaving the nasty tasting berries and barbs, I threw a couple berries in my rabbit trap and ate the rest.
This taught me a valuable lesson, just because I was immune to the poison, doesn't mean they didn't taste like pain and death.
I managed to wait with a loose pile of the mushed up rabbit grass until I saw a rabbit, it was pretty rge about the size of the rge ones you see people ciming theirs is bigger. I threw my spear which made it go limp, but I could still see it breathing.
"Damn need to finish it before it suffers too.."
I was cut off by loud buzzing, I decide to stay in my hiding bush. It was a good Idea too, a few seconds ter a wasp the size of a great dane grabs the limp rabbit, bites its head off with a sinister sounding crunch and flies away.
"The giant wasp bastard even took my spear...well I still have eight."
I spend the next hour waiting for a rabbit that never comes, the noise and the smell of blood scaring them off most likely. I head back to my berry pit trap to hear a thudding, I can see the bark is being nudged as something wants out. I thrust a spear into the pit and 3 more thuds start I have to use 3 more spears before the thudding stops. Lifting away the rocks and bark I see 6 rabbits, a rge one and five smaller ones.
"Looks like mummy messed up."
I take a sharp arrow head like rock and put it in my pocket.
"So happy I wear combats, the pockets are very useful."
I ugh to myself, as I drag the rabbits out one at a time and tie their legs up with vines, I head over to where the wasp took my kill and dumped the guts and most of the blood from the rabbits, I even left the heads behind. I head over to a rge bck necrid bramble bush and make a path to the middle, I seal the entrance up and start skinning the rabbits. I may not need it yet, but I will. I hang the rabbits up in the admittedly rge space I made with consume. I use a rge ft rock over a pit of dry brush, I make a fire. Thankfully the smoke went out the way I wanted. I didn't have finer tools to de bone the rabbit, so I just skinned them and checked for parasites the best I could, thankfully there weren't any. I throw the rabbit on the ft stones and cover with some wet leaves and go to sleep, leaving my makeshift oven to go to work. I wake up to complete darkness.
"Wait how long are the days here? That seems strange that night is just here."
I check the still hot oven and my rabbit is cooked for the most part, a bit undercooked in the middle, but beggars can't be choosers I wolf down the meat, chewing it off of the bone, leaving a nice pile of them. Without much light I went back to sleep, I was not going out hunting at night in this pce. I wake up again in the dawning light, the soft orange and gold glow was warming. I look at my stats and notice something new.
Forest rabbit :30%
Dex & Int +10
I look at the increase, it was nuts. Thanks to those little rabbits, I nearly doubled my dexterity and Intellect. It was quite interesting. However I look at the pile of bones.
"Consume."
The shadows engulf the bones and in under a minute they were gone. Checking the percentage again returned a 32%.
'It rose by 30% for 6 whole rabbits worth of meat, but 2% for just a pile of bones. Is there a cap? If there is it is probably so my body can better adapt to such a massive increase. I will have to figure it out, I may have wasted those rabbits, may have been better to eat one every few hours, but I had no way to store it.'
I let out a sigh and gather up the furs that were st nights bedding, brushing off the dirt and putting them into my pockets the best I could. I head out into the world and gather more rabbit grass and taking them into the clearing I found myself in yesterday?
Who knows this world is strange.
'Another thing to figure out.'
I felt amazing to be honest, full of energy. I pced the bait in the clearing and got to work making spears, this time using wood and tapering the wood a bit more. It was around 4 hours ter that I noticed it, the rabbits refused to enter the clearing.
'What the hell?'
Confused I speared a rabbit close by, the rest ran, but I was curious. I picked up the rabbit and carried it into the clearing it showed heavy distress finally dying once I got 2 metres into the clearing.
"Something in this clearing killed the rabbit?"
I open my menu again and see an Icon a blue ring with a yellow, white and blue wave almost symbolic of steam. I focus on the Icon.
《Mana vent》
I focus on what a mana vent means or is.
Mana vent: Mana vents restore vitality of races that are part of the job system. Whilst int the vent Hp, Mp and Sa will recover at an accelerated rate. Monsters suffer cumutive damage whilst in the vent, only the more stubborn or powerful monsters will be able to survive within a vent for a short period of time.
"Holy shit, this is a safe zone!"
I look around in disbelief, this was the spot I was pced when I got here. However I did not miss the point about stronger monsters not giving a crap, just moving through faster than any other area. The cumutive aspect has me interested, after all that means the longer they are in the vent the more damage they take. I think of a few traps that could work a weighted snare yanking them into the air and leaving them suspended in the vent until they die. I smile and start to set up base, I grab twigs and pnt Bck Necrid bramble berries around the perimeter, from what I had seen with the pit from yesterday, these brambles go from berry to bush in a day, they also avoid the vents, they too seem to break down, unless they are used like the ones in my spears, since they were technically dead. I let out a breath of relief, I look over to my left and see around a dozen of those wasp pricks, chasing a very big wolf, the wolf bounds weakly into a safe zone and colpses. I manage to get over to it and watch it slowly die.
"Hey big guy."
It lets out a weak growl, I look to the trees and see the wasps going nuts, not being able to enter.
"It's ok, it's ok."
I knew he was dying, I came close never meeting his eyes, the poor guy was too weak to move. I scratch his ear and he starts cying, the high pitched whine dogs do when they suffer.
I hold his head, rubbing my face into his.
"It's ok, It's ok. Not much longer."
I sit beside him and pull his head on to my p, I sit there stroking his head I take out the rabbit I caught earlier and offer the wolf my kill, I pnned on eating the wolf anyway.
I just couldn't let a wolf die that way. I was a dog lover, but I could not pass up a meal like this.
I try my best to take his pain away or at least give him some final comfort. After 20 minutes he gives my face a final lick and he passes away. It was definitely a he.
I work quickly to gut him and start the skinning process. I find a couple of stingers and after "consuming" the guts and bowels I found out something impressive.

"You can get by the cap with other things, no this is more like a cap to make you have a variety of targets. Thanks buddy."
While I was checking the wolf, I find a knife covered in blood, lodged in its fnk.
So I pull out the short knife and continue skinning the beast. After finishing skinning, I use consume to clean it up a bit ready for tanning. I put my rabbit furs next to it and start prepping the meat. I hear a branch snap and I throw a spear hitting a forest rabbit, it colpses dead.
