Lo gently brushed up against Billy as they walked. She momentarily forgot about the gre from another girl. The counselor pointed over to a rger cabin that wasn't too far away from the smaller ones.
"That's where I sleep. If you ever need anything during Lights Out, you can come find me.”
“Is it just you?” Lo asked, looking up at the young man.
“We usually have about two counselors along with a head counselor. But this year it's just me."
"Why is that?" She asked curiously in a tiny voice.
"One is currently having a baby, and the other one is sick with the flu."
Lo scrunched up her face and pouted with disgust; a face that made the older boy chuckle.
“But don’t worry~ I’m perfectly able to handle everything here.”
“Are you the head counselor?” She asked, eyes sparkling with wonder, imaging a slew of fantasies in her head. “Is that like the alpha counselor? Or head vampire? Or both...?!”
Billy tried his best to not ugh but his grin was accompanied by bursts of delight. He loved how genuine the girl was in her questions.
“Uh, not a vampire, but yes, I am the head counselor.”
“Ohh, alpha counselor,” the girl muttered with a short nod of confirmation.
Billy covered his face to hide a soft blush and rubbed his temples with his forefingers to redirect his thoughts. Lo was so innocent that the young man couldn’t bring himself to correct her.
“Yes,” he agreed. He was the only male in the camp, so he accepted the title. Billy neglected to tell her that he wasn’t typically a counselor for the girls’ camp. Short staffing brought him over for the summer. He was gd he didn’t pass up the opportunity to act as head counselor for Bear Paw.
The girl hummed softly in thought as they walked past the counselors’ cabin.
“Won’t you get a little lonely by yourself at night?” She figured it would be boring to not have anyone to talk to when he was back at his cabin.
Billy stifled a chuckle and kept an amused smile on his face. “I’m sure I can find ways to occupy myself...”
The counselor stopped at a yellow building that wasn't too far off from the girls’ cabins.
"This is the bathroom and showers." Above the water fountains was a sign pointing to the right for the bathroom and to the left for the shower. Billy walked inside with her, not thinking anything weird from it. The bathroom was clean and nice looking. The floor tiles were blue, and the stall doors matched the yellow walls.
"You have all the stalls on this side."
He then led her to the left. "And these are the showers. You'll get towels and wash cloths from this little cabinet here." He tapped it lightly with his fingertips. The showers were lined up with blue curtains to match the tiles.
"Is this where you go too?"
"Oh, no.” He ughed. “My cabin has a bathroom and shower in it."
"Lucky!~" Lo giggled. "I want my own bathroom!"
Billy smiled at her as they walked out. He refrained himself from telling her that his cabin had two full bathrooms. They continued their tour back to the center of the camp where the intercom loomed.
“Wake Up is at 6,” Billy said as he led her across the campground.
“This over here is the Mess Hall.” He led her into the long wooden building. There were multiple wooden cafeteria-style benches and tables filling the center.
“This is where you’ll get all your food and drink. Breakfast starts at 7, Lunch is at 12, Dinner is at 5, Night Snack with me is at 8, and finally Lights Out is 10.”
Lo perked up at the mention of a snack with Billy. “We get a nighttime snack?” Lo asked.
Billy chuckled, nodding his head. “That’s right. The head counselor distributes a final snack before bed. It’s a voluntary snack if anyone decides to skip it.”
“Who would skip a snack?” She tilted her head.
“You’d be surprised,” Billy smirked. “At any time during the day if you want a snack, you can just come in and the cooks will take care of you. But they leave for the day at 7 and the Mess Hall will be locked till the morning. If you need anything after they’re closed, you can come to me, and I’ll get it for you.”
Lo smiled and pyfully leaned against him. She innocently didn’t realize she was testing warm waters. “That’s good to know~”
Billy gently bumped her off him with an impulsive wink before leading her outside. Lo grinned happily and trotted after the young man, feeling even more comfortable around him since he reciprocated her py like her daddy always did.
“Lastly, there’s the office and infirmary.” He brought her to the st building, directly behind the intercom.
“If you get sick or hurt, the nurse here will fix you right up. She’s very sweet.”
The girl took her time looking up at the building. She knew their tour was ending but she never wanted it to end.
“Oh, I have a little gift for you~”
“Really?” Lo’s eyes lit up excitedly at the young adult. She absolutely adored getting gifts. Her daddy always spoiled her with little gifts and surprises. “What is it?!”
“It’s a surprise,” Billy grinned. “I'll be right back.” He hurried into the office, returning shortly holding up a cyan t-shirt with a rge, dark blue bear paw on it. “See?” He turned it over to show the back read Camp Bear Paw. “I think this one will fit you.”
“Ooo~” Lo took hold of it. “It matches the one you’re wearing!”
Billy nodded with a smirk. “Yep. You’re a cub now~ Oh, and you also get this.” He handed her a yellow bandana that had the same bear paw in a darker yellow. “As you can probably guess, our camp colors are blue and yellow.”
The girl giggled and slid her new shirt over her revealing tank top.
The counselor had a soft smile on his face as he watched her. “You don’t have to wear the t-shirt every day but try to always have the bandana on you. That way if anyone wanders off too far and gets lost, at least the patrolling forest ranger will know she belongs to this camp.”
“There’s forest rangers here?” Lo folded the bandana before tying it around the base of her hair in a cute bow.
“Unfortunately...” He rolled his eyes. “I can’t stand those damn tree sheriffs. Anyways, today is a zy day while campers arrive so enjoy yourself~ Tomorrow we’ll have some fun.” The way Billy would smile at her made her heart flutter.
Lo bit her lip gently to hold back how much she wanted to smile. “Okay~” She twirled her hair pyfully before trotting off back to her cabin. She could feel the counselor’s gentle eyes watching her. The tiny girl giggled to herself as she hurried along. She wanted to get everything unpacked and maybe try to make a friend.
