-From the perspective of Nizzal.-
Two days ter. In the restaurant where Ava and Kate work.
Now I am als part time in the restaurant. Ava gave me a spare uniform as well. At this moment, however, two days after the initial assault on the jedi and in the midafternoon of the day, there was little to do.
I sat down behind the bar in a mostly hidden spot and decided to think about what had just happened in these few days.
In the background, the holo vision device pced in the middle of the hall was showing some of the viral video captures and images of the chaos that occurred two days ago.
There was an interview with a Jedi survivor from the temple. Telling about how they fought against the e troopers’ deadly assault. The few guests in the restaurant were currently watg this as well.
There was nothing else to do, so I decided to let my thoughts roam freely.
The reason why I was w here was simple. A rge part of the servers either took out their vacation or left after the battle that happe the restaurant. Turns out that not everybody is fih their workspace being invaded by es that led to an all out battle and a bunch of dead. Such work hazards were apparently not mentioned in their tracts.
At the time of the attack most staff members chose to hide ihe building while Mady, that was the name of that horrible merary woman and Anakin with Luminara in tow battled it out with the renegade e squads. Afterwards they withe results of the battle. It wasn’t a pretty sight so to speak…
After the storm passed, the remaining active staff here were basically me, Kate, and Ava. Two people went on vacation, while the other five workers have left.
I felt guilty for this oute, so I offered to help out willingly, since Ava helped me when I was in trouble and I adamantly refused to go he jedi temple. No matter how Obi'Wan tried to sweet talk me into accepting the offer.
I could stay in the restaurant as long as I wanted anyway. I mean, Ava was not the big boss here. She didn’t own this restaurant, but she was the highest authority present who was trusted to mahis pce. My gaze turowards the ically smiling human girl o me...
Kate was very happy at the moment. She had been promoted and noending her w days with this huge smile that seemed to never leave her face.
At the moment, she was sitting with me, for some reason givihis long stare. It was obvious that she wao ask something, but didn’t know how t it up without beiremely iive… or pushy…
I sighed, as I couldn’t stand her gaze any longer, and asked.
-What?
-Eh? It’s nothing…
I rolled my eyes… Ahsoka was clearly a bad influence as she mao give me another nasty habit…
-Spit it out Kate. Spare me from your indecision.
I have realized sinowing her for almost three entire days that you o give her a little push if you wao hear her ho, or mostly ho, thoughts. In other words she was shy.
Hearing my words, she looked aside, feeling embarrassed… and kind of hurt. However, she finally spoke up.
-I don’t uand… now you see… and are you really a jedi? You don’t act like ohe other jedi also left you here… so… I am fused…
I sighed, while pig up a gss of whisky. I shrugged my shoulders slightly and drank a little from the heavenly ar. Then I asked back.
-I told you that I was not pletely blind… it was an ability that I could not trol. I just mao figure it out… it was so simple, I actually hought of it… About not ag like a jedi, or a padawan… I ’t seem to figure out what you mean by that… every person is different. So…
Kate was staring at me in fusion when she saw me drinking something. Her i gaze actally wao the opened whisky bottle pced on the bar. She blihen turned bae, seeing the simirly colored liquid in my gss. I could practically see as the gears turned inside her head.
Thearted to panic. Jumping up from her seat and trying to take away the gss while scolding me.
-You have the face to ask what I mean! That is exactly what I mean. You are like twelve! Stop drinking whisky, do you want the restaurant to be fined for serving alcohol to children!? Give it to me right now!
She tried to snatch the gss out of my hand. I wasn’t going to let her ruin my peaceful moment just like that. With a smirk, I levitated the gss up into the air, a hover over me about three meters high.
Kate, seeing my a, exhaled tiredly.
-You are impossible, but now you ’t drink it at least… so I win-…?
Before she could finish that sentence, I tilted the gss in the air with a gentle manipution of the force, just enough to pour some whisky into my opened mouth. This was a trick I learned from Master Brealexu Hoshul. She was the 6. Gray Lord of my memory line…
The memory of that crazy ut a genuine smile on my face.
Ah, that zeltron could hold her drink without a doubt, might have something to do with the fact that zeltrons have two livers… A race that developed from humans. Aside from their absurd skin and hair colors and that sed liver I mentioned earlier, they were literally the same. Master had a deep red skin color and light blue hair, a feisty bination with her temper, and habitual al. No idea how she mao live for over seven hundred years...
Anyway, I mao pull off this trick for the first try, thanks to the memories. I am a genius, after all. Hick… Ugh… I should probably remember that I don’t have two livers at the moment… hick!
I heard an angry shout blown into my left ear protrusion.
-Stop drinking, you idiot!
I winced from the sheer magnitude of the voice.
Suddenly, I heard another voice joining the versation.
-What is this otion, Kate?
-Hava? Hava! e here, Nizzal is drinking whisky and I ’t stop her… This… this kid, she is impossible… and I think she will bee sick…
My slightly drowsy eyes opened up as I realized who this newly arriving person was. I simultaneously felt the gss that had moved in circles above my head stop dramatically. It was grasped by a rge hand… a hand that beloo this giantess!
A giahat was looking down at me with disappoi.
-Nizzy… What did I tell you ba the pace about drinking alcohol?
I sighed…
-That you shouldn’t do it until you are a grownup… and even then only in moderation… but you see, I have this Jedi Training, and I easily clear out the effects of alcohol from my system.
She looked at me disapprovingly.
-You should know that I am also your bht now…
I sighed once more… I guess the party was over.
-Okay… sorry ma’am, it won’t happen again.
While I am here, that is…
-That better be true.
Kate was this versation silently. Until her patience ran out, and she decided to interrupt us.
-Hava, is she really a jedi, or even a padawan? I find it hard to believe… She actually reminds me more of that pirate troublemaker.
The door was kicked in and a red cloaked figure stepped into the mostly empty restaurant.
-Did someone call me!? The great Hondo Ohnaka ehe se!
I sighed and said towards the great fool.
-Did you seriously believe that I didn’t sense your presehere? You were waiting for the right opportunity for about ten minutes now. How pitiful.
For a fickle moment, he seemed shocked, but it was immediately covered up in forced ughter.
-Haha! How ingenious, your jokes are as creative as I remembered them. Now, where are the rest of the uninvited guests?
I raised my slightly dizzy head from the bar table and turowards Hondo.
-You mean… Obi’Wan, and Anakin?
-Yes, and that fiery green woman, ah, that was a fine one. She even mao surprise me. Such a fine ss, indeed!
Another shadow walked into the buildio Hondo. Hearing what he said, she forcefully stamped on Hondo’s left feet. As a rea he began to jump on one leg while cursing loudly at nothing in particur. Then she directly headed towards me. I soon realized that this person was her than Cire.
I waved at her zily.
She only nodded and looked back at Hondo with a satisfied smirk.
-Da, will you e in at st? It’s obvious that the jedi are not here anymore, and why would they be after two days…
Hondo stopped jumping around, he was clearly overreag… now he smirked and slipped into a new role, with an unnatural ease. I couldn’t help but think, that this man would be a ridiculously good actor… or a spy. As, he was to ho, and stupid for that.
-Hah, there is nothing obvious, when a jedi is in the equation, my sweet child, it will do you good to remember that.
He stated in a lecturing parental tone also nailing the act perfectly.
-Hmm…
Saying that, was the only way Cire reacted to his antics though.
I stretched my back a little. Resting my head on the bar was not the most fortable position to rest. I yawiredly, then said.
-The jedi went back to their temple… taking the senator with them. I guess… you are here for the money?
Hondo smirked, satisfied with my statement.
-Smart girl, there is no way I would let your friends off the hook so easily, we eveheir ons in the room so vely. However, I couldn’t accept your deal at the time… it would damage my carefully created reputation. But, since we are old friends, for old times sake I decided to act like I got the news of an ining e squad and pulled out my man, just in time to leave.
I looked at him tiredly.
-I suppose, that it was an absolute ce that an actual e squad arrived soon after you left captain.
He smirked in my face as he answered proudly.
-Not at all, you know I had to make it look real, right? So I might give them sh dires, you know how it is…
I smiled at him, in annoyahis guy was the most annoying bastard iire gaxy.
Especially, because he is.... sigh... ah never mind that... I answered him after a few seds of silenbsp;
-Suspected as much… You will get your money. I reached inside my bag and took out a raw kyber crystal and pced it on the bar in front of me.
The beautiful gem glistened oable with a mysterious yellow color.
Cire walked closer with Hondo in tow, as they marveled at the sparkling crystal.
-A kyber crystal.
Stated Hondo, thoughtfully.
-Yes, you take it. I have a few simir o home, same color too… So I give you this. I trust that you will be able to find an ied buyer to make a load of money.
Hondo picked up the gem and put it inside one of his hidden pockets. Then he spoke up.
-I see, but… Earning actual credits with this will still depend on my es and it is yet to be certain that I will indeed mao find the right buyer…
I looked at him disapprovingly.
-Don’t push it… we both know that finding a buyer for a kyber crystal is easy…
I smirked at him, and added.
-Any possible loss of credits could be writen on the restaurant's at for the caused colteral damage.
He looked at me sourly, realizing that I wouldn't be tricked by such low-level scheming. He pined loudly in a way for everyoo hear in the building.
-Hah! Look at that, the little girl has grown up! Daddy is proud! He put his left hand on top of my head and did a weird motion, that was simir to an attempt at ruffling someone’s hair.
Except it looked stupid since I didn’t have any hair…
I pulled away my head, sihe whole situation started to feel bizarre. I think, that I am actually drunk.
Hondo was still going on with his crazy ramblings.
-I swear if I didn’t have a bunch of daughters already, I would definitely adopt you. You are already like someone from my blood, ing, resourceful and most of all, charming. Ohoho… Unfortunately you will have to be satisfied being a member of the for now. e on kid, I am truly proud of you, already leag my money… and so effectively too, such talent. Marvelous. e here, give me a hug sweetheart!
-… I would rather not…
-Argh! Cold as an ice sculpture! Such a pitty…
-You are full of bullshit old man…
-Old?! Preposterous, didn’t you hear that fifty is the wenty… or something along the way… bahh! This Hondo still kick the ball as well as in his twenties! Bahaha!
Cire face palmed in the background hearing the ridiculous cim. Then she made a desperate fad instead of listening to her father anymore left and started to speak with Kate, who was serving drinks to a newly arrived er.
After the idiot stopped ughing I asked him.
-So was that all? Hondo?
He looked at me, then looked around suspiciously. When he saw that Cire had left he turned bae and asked with surprising genuinity.
-Nizzal, I would like to ask you something.
I was a bit surprised by the serious tone, but nodded giving him the signal to go ahead.
-You see, I never really get to ask this question from a force user… they usually try to chase me down the moment they see me... hehe...
-I wonder why that is…
-They ’t resist my charm obviously… but that is not the point now.
My jaw dropped, hearing that… but I couldn’t interrupt him as he tialking without a stop.
-I always wondered, if there is truly some sort of afterlife… at the end of the road… you know? Jedi always aagnanimous… fwless almost… I initially thought that they were only looking down on us from their pretty temples, and some do that, but there are others whenuine. Just like Kenobi. There is this mysterious, energy around him… this force that attracts people, urging them to ge, to do better... Even me... you believe that? I am curious... Could you tell me, if there is truly something… more? I mean beyond lifting a few gsses and throwing around rocks here and there… you se with that gift of yours?
My expression turned serious about half way through his question. This deep and ho question took me pletely off-guard especially ing from Hondo.
I looked him in the eye, reag out with the ford sensing only true curiosity. After a few seds of hesitation I raised my left arm aly touched his temple. The move took him by surprise and he didn't move away.
I decided to do something that I never inteo do, not since I saw it in a vision among the swirling vortex of the long passed time, maybe I did it, because of the drink I ed...
I whispered gently.
-Don’t be afraid.
Then I shared a little bit of my knowledge of certais, my life from the street of Ryloth and another particur vision that I experienced after I became the Grandmaster of the Grey. I also showed some of my uanding of the inner ws of the force with him. Feeling particurly generous today.
Sending the memories, experiences aiht into his brain through the physical e. The entire process only took a few seds, but in those few seds he probably experiewo to three days worth of densed memories.
Sharing only that much with him, already took a huge amount of energy from my body. I was already fatigued and now my eyelids felt dht heavy.
The moment Hondo came back from the induced vision, he jumped up from his seat that was oher side of the bar. He almost knocked over ay table in his fright. I couldn't bme him for that.
Then he looked around, disbelief showing on his face, mixed with fusion. Finally he turned bae, looking shocked, aremely guilty.
It felt like ay had passed, when he moved once again.
He walked closer to the bar once more, and sat down at the same chair while his arms were shaking siderably…
One pair of hollowed eyes looked at me, in shame… as he said in a whisper…
-This ot be… How?
I smiled at him, weakly.
-Now you know…
He quickly avoided my eyes, looked at the table on the wall, anywhere but me.
-She old me… I wouldn’t have let you, like that… you have to believe me…
He felt genuine, and I was touched by the words I had sought among the shadows for so long.
I spoke to him in a geone, ohat seemed to even surprise myself.
-It was never your choice. I had a differeiny, one written in a different sky, in a different gaxy. Do you see now, how the force, binds everything together… even you, and me?
.
.
.
Do you believe now, father?
