A bnket of clouds covered up the night sky and a light snow slowly fell on the sleepy city. The air was cold and crisp and with every breath a pilr of fog would be sent up to the sky. On the curb, outside a chinese restaurant, was a small woman holding a bag of takeout food and she was scowling from the cold.
This was Diamond Silvervine, and she stood a mere five feet tall. She was wearing a dark brown hooded coat, bck backless sports bra, matching bck fred yoga pants, and a pair of cheap bck and red sneakers. Her hood was covering up her ptinum blonde hair that was styled in a low ponytail and her hood hid her pale face in the shadows. The scars on her face ran deep, one was found on the left eye, a small one on the left corner of her lip and one on the right side of her strong jawline.
While waiting for her ride, she heard footsteps walking past her as her eyes closed. Those footsteps stopped, “Dude, think I can get her number?” One male voice whispered but she could hear them clear as day on this quiet night.
“I don’t know, she could be underage for all we know.” A different male said, and she heard one set of footsteps walking towards her and a low groan from the other male that feared she was underage. Diamond heard the drunk man talking to her, though she blocked him out, and she perked up once as she heard the car she was waiting for coming.
Diamond finally opened up her bright silver eyes and saw the man was now standing in front of her. He said something before stumbling backwards and started to fall into the street but Diamond grabbed his shirt with her free hand and easily redirected him to fall behind her. “Fuck off,” Diamond said with an icy and impersonal manner.
The car that Diamond was waiting for was a blue sleek sports car that was low to the ground and it stopped right in front of her. The passenger scissor door opened up allowing Diamond to slide in and the door closed once she was seated. “Not the most practical car to drive in this weather, Ophelia.” Diamond said as she buckled up her seat belt and put her hood down.
Ophelia Ashwood, the dy in the driver seat, was a six feet tall woman with deep chocote skin tone, deep blue eyes and dark brown chocote medium length hair reaching her shoulders with bangs covering her right eye. She was wearing a bck pencil skirt, sleeveless white turtleneck, dark blue suit jacket, gold pearl neckce, and hanging on her ears were matching pair hanging sapphire earrings.
Diamond knew Ophelia hid under her bangs and that was a three finger cw scarring mark over her right eye. Diamond noticed she had switched out her high heels for fts to drive, as her favorite pair of heels were knocking against Diamond’s feet.
“Well I was taking this one into storage, before getting the call, and taking out my suv for winter.” Ophelia said as started to drive.
Diamond opened the takeout bag on her p and stopped sensing Ophelia disapproval. “Don’t worry you’re going to be on a stake out with a moonflower officer.” The car stopped a red light and Ophelia leaned over to open the glovebox before returning her focus to driving.
Inside was a police folder and Diamond pulled it out before closing the glovebox. She opened the folder and saw pictures of a shredded up body with the parts scattered around a construction site. “The victim, Jasmine Teller, was found at an abandoned construction site on the east side.” Ophelia expins as turned down an alleyway. “Prime hunting grounds for the less wful members of all three races.”
Ophelia stopped her car once beside a bck four door truck with a bed cover that was parked across from the abandoned construction site, where the body was found. “Your stop and please py nice this time.” Diamond rolled her eyes at Ophelia's words and got out of the car. Once out of the car Ophelia drove off allowing Diamond to open the truck door to enter it.
Diamond sat down in the passenger seat of the truck and in the driver seat was a six foot tall caucasian male officer. He had short light brown messy spiked hair, five o’clock stubble on his face, and rich brown eyes that were looking over Diamond. He was wearing bck chinos pants, white dress shirt with sleeves rolled up to the elbow, a simple bck tie and right forearm was bandage wrapping.
“I’m Chris Quinn,” He said while Diamond opened her takeout bag and ignored Chris’ words. “And you must be Diamond Silvervine, stories seem to be true so far.” Diamond continued pulling out a white chinese takeout box and opened it up.
Chris shrugged his shoulders and pulled a picture from his shirt pocket to show Diamond. “This is who we are waiting for to show up, Ivan Popov.”
Diamond pulled out some chopsticks but paused to look at the picture of their target. He was a bald caucasian man with blue eyes and a full grown beard. “He may not completely like this picture.” Chris pced the picture on the center console and could tell Diamond was now listening.
“The victim got his DNA under her nails and there was enough to test for drugs.” Diamond nodded before starting to wolf down the Chinese food she just opened. “The drug found was heroin, and strong stuff at that too. I don’t get why a wereb-”
Chris stopped talking when he noticed Diamond stopped eating in the middle of her noodles. She was staring outside before swallowing what was in her mouth, “He’s here.” Diamond said as closed her noodles and moved the rest of her food to the passenger side floor. “What were the on-sight orders?”
Chris moved to grab the shotgun from the gun rack on the suspect transport enclosure wall, “Neutralize by any means needed, he has been beled a threat to all,” Chris said as both of them got out of the truck. “I’ll follow your lead on this.” Chris followed Diamond as she walked towards the abandoned construction site where she saw their target enter.
“It won't take long,” Diamond said as she smelt the air and caught the strong scent of old blood. The scent led them down into a rge pit where the building foundation would’ve been poured and Diamond held up a fist to stop Chris.
She pointed him to hide behind a pile of steel beams and Chris nodded and moved behind the pile. The site was dark for human standards and in the pit far worse, for Diamond and Ivan it was clear as cloudy day.
Diamond saw their target squatting on the ground and muttering something in Russian and Diamond's nose twitched from his scent. It was clear Ivan hadn’t showered since he killed Jasmine and was wearing some raggy dirty shirt and torn pants that match his scent.
Diamond’s causal walking made enough noise to make Ivan look up at her and his face was nothing like the picture now. He had bloodshot eyes that were sunken into his skull, he looked skin and bones, missing multiple teeth, and patches of hair from his beard.
Ivan yelled out something in Russian before he started to spasm and the white of his eyes shifted into bck. The pit started to fill with the sound of bone cracking and human speech shifting into wild animal growling.
The sight of this transformation would cause a normal person to feel nausea, to Diamond it was normal to see a man transform into a monstrous werewolf. Though Ivan's full transformation form looked more like a starving dog with mange and not the hulking beast that a healthy werewolf would look like.
“COME ON, MUTT!” Diamond roared as she shifted her stance and fist clenched at her side. Ivan let out a roar before lunging forward to nd on Diamond, Diamond was quicker and side stepped the lunge making the target nd in front of her on all fours.
Diamond quickly raised both of her fists over her head, she smmed those fists down on the back of the target's neck. There was a loud bone breaking crack when Diamond’s fists made contact and force transfer to body made it sm into the ground causing it to kick up a lot of sand.
Diamond quickly pulled a hidden silver knife from her coat and she could see clearly through the sand cloud to stab Ivan’s temple with the silver knife. Diamond let go of the handle of the knife and stood up straight.
She waited for a few seconds before Ivan’s body stopped twitching. “It’s done,” Diamond called out and the sand cloud was clearing as Chris walked out of his position to stand beside Diamond. Chris looked at the body as it slowly shifted back to a human form.
“Good job,” Chris said as he crouched down to get a better look. “I’ll call it in.” He pulled out his cell phone and paused as his eyes trailed to where the target was digging. “Mind staying with the body, I’ll go get my shovel to see what he was digging up.”
“Bring my bag of food then too,” Diamond said and pulled a disinfectant wipe out of her coat to clean off her hands. Chris nodded as he stood up and started to walk back to the truck while on the phone to call in the body.
Diamond was sitting on the ground ten feet away from the body finishing off the st of her food as Chris was digging with a shovel and he finally stopped.
Chris turned on his fshlight into a hole, “Found what he was digging for.” Chris yelled out with a smirk. “Smack head to the end.” Chris threw his shovel to the side and went to grab his camera to take a picture of what he found. “Few bricks of drugs, heroin probably.”
“Officer Quinn?!” A male voice called out and there were a few fshlight beams from the road. Chris made a loud whistle and the lights looked down at them making Chris wave at them then pointed to the way down. “We’ll be down there in a second.”
“Bring the gurney, one fresh but very ripe body.” Chris yelled and got out of the hole he was in. “Also evidence bags, got some bricks needing to be bagged and tagged.” The other officers called out for what was needed and to block off the street for now.
Diamond stood up to dust herself off and picked up her trash. “I’ll drive you to the station after everything is done here and Miss. Ashwood can pick you up there.” Chris said as he saw Diamond getting up.
“I want my knife back.” Diamond said before heading back up, passing the police going down, and Chris chuckled at her words. Diamond got to the truck’s passenger seat and looked at the picture of Ivan then snarled. “Worthless and pathetic, you blemish on your cn and family’s name.”
The police station was quiet that night and in the bullpen at Chris’ desk sat Diamond with her feet up on his desk and looking at a takeout menu. The other human officers kept their distance from Diamond and she could sense all their fear from her being there.
“Feet off my desk,” Chris said as he tapped Diamond’s feet with a folder. He was freshly washed up and changed into fresh clothing and Diamond also noticed he wore his handgun, a Glock 17, on his left side. Diamond stared at him for a second before putting her feet down and crossing her legs.
“Thank you, so want to come down to the morgue with me or just going sit here like a bump on a log?” Diamond paused and tilted her head and tried to figure out Chris, as she didn’t sense any fear off him.
Diamond stood up and adjusted her coat while he put the folder on his desk, “Only to get my knife back, pure silver isn’t cheap.” She said as she walked past Chris to head to the elevator and Chris followed her shaking his head with a smirk.
“That is true,” Chris said and once in the elevator he pressed the 3rd floor button. “Nix probably already has it nice and cleaned up for you.”
Diamond made a small nod at his words about Nix. Elevator stopped at the basement floor, the b and morgue floor, and Diamond walked out first with Chris walking behind her.
Diamond walked a few feet before turning left to the first door and that door was to the morgue. The room had three sbs for bodies and on the left side of the room was a wall of drawers for bodies. On the middle sb was Ivan’s corpse, his body was covered from ankles to shoulders, and the room smelt of disinfected cleaner.
Diamond went to the empty sb to sit on it while waiting for Nix and Chris walked to the side of the corpse with Diamond facing him. Diamond noticed while he was looking at her, he never looked into her eyes and forced on her forehead or her lips.
“I almost didn’t need to do an autopsy on this one and I could guess which Cleaner did the job.” A female voice said from the door they just entered and both of them looked to see Doctor Nix Martin standing at the door.
She had paper white skin and bck hair with a bob cut with bangs that covered her eyes and two silver lip piercings on her lower lip, which had glossy bck lipstick. Nix was wearing a tight bck dress with a sweetheart cut and stopped at half way her thighs, and that fitted tightly around her curves. There was a rich blue part to dress on her chest area if looked from the front it would look like a heart. Along with the dress she wore a sheer bck shirt, bck stockings, pair of leather high heel boots that make her look taller than her height of five feet and six inches, leather colr around her neck, leather belt with silver moonflowers buckle and her b coat.
Nix walked over to Diamond and held out a clean silver knife, while she held the knife end. “Since you, Miss. Silvervine, only one that uses this type of silver knife.” Nix stated as Diamond took the knife and slid it back in coat. “Breaking all the neck vertebrae with her fists and finishing off with a silver knife to the temple, cssic Diamond Silvervine move.”
“Quick and efficient,” Chris said as his stare moved to the corpse. “So guessing the autopsy told you more information about this case.”
Nix turned around so her back was to Diamond, “He didn’t eat the young dy, at least not on purpose.” Chris raised his eyebrow and Diamond tilted her head. “Yes there are small pieces of her flesh in his stomach but only enough that proves he killed her with his jaws.”
“If not to eat her then why would this drugged out werewolf ki-” Chris paused and started to think, “Did he have any cash on him?” Nix shook her head no and Chris started to tap his chin. “Maybe he killed for drugs instead of using cash?”
“Sounds like a human action, ordering a drugged werewolf to kill.” Diamond said and slid off the sb. “Not my territory.” Diamond started to walk off towards the door.
“Alright, guess I’m back at working the human side alone.” Chris said and leaned to Nix, “And I will see you ter, mon Cheri~” He winked and Nix let out a small giggle before Chris went to catch up with Diamond. “Hold that elevator!”
Diamond held the door as Chris got there and he stood beside her and she pressed the floor button once he was in. “So you’re Nix’s chew toy.” Diamond said and pointed to her forearm referring to the wrapping around his forearm.
“Don’t you mean boy toy?” Chris said with blush and rubbing his neck. Diamond rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. “Are you sure you don’t want to stay on the case with me?”
“No.” Diamond said with extra ice in her voice. “I’m not a cop, I’m cleaner. I clean up the werebeast and vampire messes and threats to keep the secret peace between the races.” Chris nodded and leaned on the elevator wall. “Also we’re not friends, if anything we’re work acquaintances. If you st a month I’ll remember your name.”
“Far enough,” Chris said and stood up straight as the elevator door opened. “Still keep your feet off my desk.” Chris chuckled as he left the elevator before Diamond. Diamond rolled her eyes before exiting the elevator and her eyes locked on Ophelia, who was standing off to the side talking to the chief of police.
Diamond walked towards them, “Thank you, Houston, I will be in contact with you at a ter date.” Ophelia said before shaking the chief of police’s hand and turned to Diamond. “Ready to go?”
“Yep and we are going to stop for food.” Diamond said and nodded to the chief of police, who nodded back to her before he left the two alone. “I’m hungry for burgers, and only burgers.”
Ophelia smirked and pulled out her vehicle keys out from her suit jacket. “There is a Sheep Burger on the way back to your home.” She said and walked to the elevator with Diamond behind her. Once both inside the elevator Diamond pressed the ground floor button, “So, did you have fun a fight tonight, Dia?”
“No, just a pathetic and worthless werebeast that was just chasing a cheap thrill.” Diamond said and Ophelia nodded. “Also the human you partnered with me this time is weird.” Ophelia just ughed at that st comment.
