First Steps in a Real World

The doors of the Adventurers Guild creaked open with a burst of magical light. It was their first official day of operation. Inside, dozens of pyers stared at the mission boards, some with excitement, others with uncertainty in their eyes.

"So this isn't like in the game?" asked a young man, looking at his registration sheet.

"No," replied Riku, now with a bit more confidence than the day before. "But that doesn't make it worse."

The mission was simple: patrol the southern boundary of the capital and report any unusual creatures. Riku wasn't alone. With him were three other newcomers: Takeshi, Iria, and Nana, a former support pyer.

They walked for hours through the still unexplored fields. The terrain wasn’t dangerous, but the rules were different here. It was no longer enough to think "skill: fast jump." They had to feel the mana, move it, channel it. And not everyone got it right the first time.

"Ouch, my leg!" Iria compined after a failed attempt at a spell.

"Don’t worry," Nana said, supporting her with a smile. "It’s like learning to walk again. Only with fire... and explosions."

Meanwhile, in the Northern Duchy, Mii scowled from the top of her fortress. The snow-covered mountainous ndscape was beautiful, but her mood wasn’t.

"They got into the hot springs again! And they stole my apple pie!"

Misery tried to calm her down with freshly brewed tea. But as soon as Mii held it, a small fme burst from her hand. The tea evaporated instantly.

  "Ahh! Misery!"

"It wasn’t my fault... you’re literally on fire."

Outside the city, a group of fire monsters danced between the snow-covered trees. They were big, ugly, and completely carefree. They seemed to worship Mii, following her everywhere and causing havoc in their wake.

"I don’t want to be their queen! They’re a hassle!" Mii screamed. "They’re like obsessed fans!"

In the Eastern Duchy, Haruka walked slowly through the local market. She was a dark elf with silver hair and a soft gaze, although her steps were incredibly cautious.

"Good morning," she said to a merchant, giving a slight bow.

The merchant tried to hand her a fruit. Haruka held it... and accidentally crushed it.

"Ah... sorry," she whispered. "I still can't gauge my strength."

Around her, the locals were starting to understand that Haruka wasn’t dangerous, just clumsily powerful. Her body reinforcement magic was always active, and she couldn’t fully control it.

At her home, Montana carved a neckce while murmuring:

"She broke another cup... that’s five this week."

"I’m learning!" Haruka defended herself sweetly.

In the Western Duchy, Payne trained his army. The Sacred Sword Congregation moved like a well-oiled machine. Since they arrived in this world, Payne had imposed order, discipline, and structure.

"This world isn’t the game, but our skills are still with us," he told his soldiers. "We just need to adapt."

Frederica watched him from the stands. Although she didn’t say it, she felt proud. Payne had taken responsibility without hesitation, guiding his guild like a true feudal lord. However, even he had doubts that he didn’t share.

"What do we do if the northern monsters keep coming down?" one of the lieutenants asked.

"We wait for Mii to send them away... or destroy them herself. If not, we’ll act," Payne replied calmly.

Back in the capital, Sally finished reviewing the reports of the first missions. Although some pyers returned with minor accidents — a burn, a fall, a failed flying attempt — no one was seriously injured.

Maple entered the guild hall with a bright smile.

  "How’s everything going?"

"Much better than I thought!" replied Sally. "Although... Riku fell into a ditch."

  "Is he okay?"

"Yeah, just bruised. But the best part was that when they helped him out, he said he finally felt like part of something."

  Maple sighed in relief.

"That’s what I want. For everyone to find a pce here."

She paused for a moment, then walked over to the board.

She took a sheet, wrote something on it, and pinned it next to the others. The paper read:

"Remember to change your name if you haven’t already. You’re not just a pyer. You’re part of this world now. – Maple Honjo"

Some ughed, others took it seriously. But little by little, more names started to change.

  It was only the beginning.

The Adventurers Guild had been born. And with it, the heart of a kingdom where everyone could start anew.
