#14 CHANGE

As time went on, over the next few weeks, change came to the vilge.

People began organizing themselves. Sandy helped distribute food from the mansion storage. Drellis trained the younger men and women in basic swordpy. Vigil and the other guards took charge of building new shelters with the vilgers.

Non, still recovering, walked the vilge each day. She listened. She learned their names. She asked about their lives.

And slowly, the fear some had for her began to fade.

They still called her "Chief," but some had started calling her "The Bck Star." It was said half-jokingly at first. But the name stuck. This was a nickname derived from her using the Dark Nova spell back then, combined with her bck hair and bck eyes.

Non found it corny but didn't mind. As long as they acknowledged her as their leader, they could call her anything they wanted.

A school was built in the centre of the vilge. There weren't many children, so one school building was enough for every child in the vilge.

Both Vigil and Drellis had already broken through in their swordsmanship. They were now officially Sword Apprentices. This was thanks to Non's tutege, she occasionally trained them on her free time.

Surprisingly enough, both Vigil and Drellis were just a step away from becoming Sword Apprentices. It only took a few days for them to breakthrough after they started training with Non.

This was so they could train the children of the vilge effectively. Both Vigil and Drellis were already in their 30s, so it was essential for Non to carefully train the younger children from the vilge in order for them to improve further and become her fighting power.

She trained Drellis and Vigil so they could pass on her teachings, she was mostly involved in magic training for those with a talent for magic in the vilge.

Currently, Sandy was the most talented in magic. There were 10 others from the vilge with a talent for magic but it wasn't up to par with Sandy's. Non thought that maybe it was because she was an illegitimate child of a noble and had inherited some of her family's talent.

But she didn't bother asking, it wouldn't change anything anyway.

  ...

On this day, Non sat on the chief's throne. Meditating with her eyes closed.

"Greetings my dy." Vigil said as he walked into the main hall of the chief's mansion.

"Hmm. How is the construction coming along?" Non asked.

"Fine my dy, the vilgers are also helping us so it makes things easier."

"Good. So what brings you here today?" Non asked, leaving Vigil quiet for a bit before responding.

"... Aren't you curious my dy?" He asked.

Ever since coming to the vilge, Non had never searched through Vigil or Drellis's memory. Even when she was looking through every vilger and guard's memory when she first arrived.

"I am. But I would rather you tell me your story yourself than me forcefully prying into your memories. I don't like spoilers so I decided to wait for you to tell me yourself. It seemed like it would be an interesting story anyway."

"Spoilers...?" Vigil asked with a confused expression.

  "Don't mind that."

  Vigil: "...?"

After that, Vigil began expining everything about himself. It turns out he really had a high background.

His real name was Vigil Valemont, the 4th son of Duke Alric Valemont. A powerful magic family within the empire.

His mother was Seraphine Valemont, she used to be a maid of the family but was chosen by Duke Alric to become his concubine as he had fallen for her after seeing her around the estate a few times.

Two years ter, Seraphine died while giving birth to Vigil. This caused his retionship with his father to be strained from birth. Duke Alric's deep love for Seraphine was no secret. Everyone in the empire knew that the duke loved his concubine more than his legal wife.

After he was born, his father never came to see him and he had never seen him in person before as well. He only knew of his appearance from the portraits in the estate.

Because he was basically an abandoned child, he grew up being neglected by the maids and his older siblings. What made things worse was that he had no aptitude for magic.

Life for him at Valemont family was like hell. As he grew older and the battle for succession intensified, Vigil had no choice but to leave the family after his eldest brother, Cedric Valemont tried to sell him off into svery.

He was saved and released by his only sister, Ysolde Valemont. She was a cold calcuting person, and didn't talk much. But she had never abused or neglected Vigil, she used to ignore him instead.

Back then, when she saved him. He was surprised and asked why she went so far for someone like him but didn't receive any expnation.

All she said to him was, "Leave the family and never return." Before throwing him a bag of coins and turning around to leave.

After wondering around the empire for a bit. He was lucky enough to be taken in by a mercenary group led by a Sword Apprentice master. Who taught him swordsmanship and other survival skills.

Unfortunately, one day during a mission years ter. His group was wiped out by none other than his eldest brother after accidentally running into them. The despair he felt losing his whole squad was gut wrenching.

That day, he lost a part of his emotions. He was beaten and left half dead near the edge of the desote mountain. Luckily, he was found and taken in by Torvaal, who was on his way to visiting the vilge.

That's how he started living here and serving Torak as a guard of the vilge even though he seemed not to belong here. His features were sharply defined yet elegant, high cheekbones, a straight nose and a sculptured jawline. He looked more like a spitting image of his mother, with no resembnce of his father at all.

His appearance always drew attention among the vilgers. People in the vilge usually called him the most handsome man in the vilge.

"I see," Non said after Vigil finished his story, "It has been hard for you indeed, do you want revenge?"

Upon hearing this, Vigil had a solemn smile on his face.

"No. I was weak back then, so I have no right to hold a grudge. All I want right now is the strength to protect and serve the young dy and this vilge."

"Hmm." Non nodded, before continuing, "I'll help get that strength but there's something I have to ask you."

  "Yes my dy, ask away."

"Was your mother really just a maid of the Valemont family?" Non asked as she got off her throne and walked towards Vigil, silently activating her new "Heaven’s Gaze" ability.

"Huh? That's what I've been told."

"Hmm... Could she have hid it or maybe she didn't know herself?" She murmured to herself.

  "Pardon?" Vigil overheard

"Your talent for swordsmanship is much greater than you think. When you broke through to the Sword Apprentice stage I noticed something, a seal of sorts. And it seems to be a generational seal passed down." Non said as she looked at him, her eyes shining with a silver light as the "Heaven's gaze" was fully activated.

"What?!" Vigil was stunned, "C-Could it be from my father's side since they are a family of magicians?" He asked.

"No. It may be a generational seal, but it has only been passed down to one generation so far, which means the seal was pced on your mother and passed down to you."

Vigil was shocked, "Ah..." he tried to speak but his voice was stuck in his throat.

"It seems to be a pinnacle 7th circle magic spell too. And it was cast 2 years before you were born."

Upon hearing this, Vigil's eyes widened in shock and disbelief. If the spell was cast 2 years before he was born, that should be around the time his mother married his father and became his concubine.

"Your mother probably came from a powerful family of swordsmen. And among the powerful swordsmanship families I know of, only the fallen Dukedom of Ironvale has a trait unique to their lineage." Non said as she pointed at Vigil's red hair.

  "Y-You mean...?"

"Yes, it seems your mother was from that family."

Vigil was utterly dumbfounded; all of this new information came too fast for him to completely comprehend. Non noticed and dismissed him as she said, "That's enough for today, we'll discuss this at another time. Go back and help with the construction for now."

  "Y-Yes..."

Vigil left after that while Non watched his receding back as she fell into deep thought.

"Young Miss!" Sandy suddenly interrupted her thoughts.

  "Hm?"

"We've finished constructions on the west end of the vilge." Sandy said.

"Hmm. How many can those buildings house for now?"

"About 300 people my dy. But I don't understand why we need so many empty buildings, the vilgers all have their own houses within the vilge, and since we helped repair their homes, they won't have to move anymore." Sandy was confused.

Over the past few weeks, Non had issued an order to build more houses on the west end of the vilge, which was just outside the vilge. Everyone was curious why, but Non never expined the reason to them.

"That's because we'll soon have more occupants in the vilge. As I said before, I have big ambitions. And for me to realize those ambitions, I need an army. I'm going to start recruiting people outside the vilge soon. So, spread the word and make sure the vilgers are prepared."

"Oh..." Sandy was dumbfounded. What kind of people would be willing to move to such a desote vilge? She didn't know but decided to believe in Non since she said she would be recruiting them herself.

  ...

  ...

  ...

  Back in Lunareth.

In the Velmoran estate, Torvaal sat on his bed as he looked at the sleeping Talia next to him, dried tear marks staining her delicate cheeks. This woman was truly something, no matter how much he indulged in her. He never got tired of her like his other victims. Not to mention he had broken through to become a 5th circle magician thanks to her.

He didn't know but this was thanks to Non's crest of lust imbedded in Talia. Other than making the target obsessed with the person, the crest of lust had a passive effect of refining magic power through intercourse. The effect was small but since Torvaal was already a pinnacle 4th circle magician, it was enough to push him up to 5th circle.

He had been vioting Talia every day and night. He had even neglected his duties guarding the city wall because of this. At first he thought maybe something was off, but when he broke through to 5th circle magician under Talia's influence, these thoughts vanished from his mind.

He now believed Talia was a godsent opportunity. Afterall, in this world, there were people called, "Magic vessels." People born with the ability to refine magic and help magicians break through to the next level through intercourse. Torvaal believed that Talia was one of those people.

As for Talia, she had already fallen to the pits of despair. Her cries and pleas for mercy drowned by her inability to speak. She had struggled initially, but no longer did she resist anymore. Torvaal would rough her up good at the slightest hint of resistance so she dare not to.

She had already noticed what was happening. Slowly but surely, she was being trained into a sex sve by Torvaal. Something she knew well as she had turned some of her own victims into sex sves back at the vilge.

Her will was also crumbling; she had no way out of her current situation. Even taking her own life was impossible due to the sve mark Torvaal had put on her. Every day and night she was reminded of the women she had abused as "Torak." Back then, she would forget their names and faces after getting rid of them and finding a new woman to py with. But now, she remembered each and every one of them clearly.

  ...

  ...

Elsewhere, in a hidden Goblin's nest near the desote vilge. Cries of pain and suffering echoed inside as the goblins' screams of joy echoed louder than the cries. Ever since Non brought the female prisoners. The whole nest was in uproar, each goblin waiting for their turn.

Reggie and the other guilty men, now turned into women suffered a cruel retribution for their past sins. All of them already had their wills broken by the goblins.

Grommash watched on, as he frowned. He didn't like watching the mating rituals, but he had to be there to make sure none of the prisoners died during the process. Not to mention they were already pregnant with the first batch of goblin babies since arriving here.

He knew that as soon as those goblins were born, Non would come wipe out the whole nest. However, it would be a couple more months before the baby goblins would be born. So, he had a lot of time to prepare for the next generation.

Grommash didn't know what Non wanted with the prisoners, but he felt that a big change would come in the empire once she came back for them.
