Chapter 7: The Hunt
The moment the battle began, Rin narrowed his eyes and drew his bow.
“There are so many… it’s kind of a problem,” Rin muttered, already notching an arrow.
Keal stood beside him, gathering mana into his palm. “Yeah, you’re right. But for us… it’s nothing.”
Sora stepped forward. Without hesitation, he summoned a blazing hand of fire and hurled it toward the group of slimes.
Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
“Fireball!” he called out, more for fun than necessity. In truth, Sora didn’t need to say anything to cast, but he noticed others always did—and thought it looked cool.
The fiery attack exploded, instantly wiping out nearly half of the hundred slimes. The rest of the party sprang into action.
Rin launched a flurry of precise arrows, taking down slime after slime.
Keal followed up with a burst of water magic, freezing a group and smashing them with a boulder spell.
Lina stayed at the back, healing minor wounds and firing bursts of magic to cover the group. “It’s kind of easy,” she said calmly.
“Yeah it is,” Rin added. “Sora just took out half of them with one shot. If he keeps this up, he might reach C-Rank—or even higher.”
As the dust settled, Sora stood quietly, hiding four slimes inside a magic container. “These might be good for some of my experiments… Aren’t they?”
Keal walked over, smiling. “We killed a lot of slimes today. That should bring in a decent amount of money.”
“Hey guys,” Rin said, looking around, “Sora blew up half of them. There’s no trace of those slimes left.”
Lina checked their collection and counted. “Only 43 bodies left.”
Rin sighed. “That’s just 96 copper coins…”
“Oh man,” Keal groaned. “We need a better-paying mission next time.”
