Chp 4 - Embers of the Past

The sun rises gently over the academy. But inside Yunus’s chest, the fire feels heavier today. He hasn’t slept well. Dreams of burning walls. A masked figure. A little boy crying. He stares at his hand, flame dancing quietly. “Why does it feel like this isn’t mine?”

Training Grounds – MorningUstadh Tariq introduces a new exercise.“Today, you won’t train alone. You’ll fight in pairs. Learn to adapt, not just attack.”He splits the class:Yunus and Zara

  Hamza and Huda

  Ayaan and Liyana

  And others in rotating duos

As they spar, Ustadh Tariq watches Yunus carefully. When Yunus unleashes a wide flame arc, Zara flinches—not from fear, but from something off.“Yunus… your flames just shifted. For a second, they weren’t fire.”Yunus freezes. “What?”“They felt like wind.”

Later, during cooldown, Yunus pulls Ustadh Tariq aside.“Tell me honestly… is there something wrong with my power?”Tariq stares at him for a long time. Then quietly says, “Not wrong. Just... not understood.”

Flashback – Years AgoA young Asad stands over a baby Yunus, the house collapsing behind them. He’s bleeding, panting, shadow wrapped around his arm.A strange man—Uncle Karim—rushes in.“Asad! We have to go!”Asad looks down at his baby brother, eyes cold with grief.“I’ll seal it. His ability… if they find out what it really is, they’ll come for him too.”He places a hand over Yunus’s heart. A flicker of blue light. And the copying power goes dormant—buried beneath fake flames.

Back to PresentYunus stares into a mirror that night.“Why does it feel like I’m wearing someone else’s skin?”Behind him, Zara appears, quiet as ever. She sits beside him.“You’re strong. But you’re not alone.”He looks at her, surprised.“I saw you hesitate today. You fight like someone scared of his own fire.”He doesn’t reply. Then she places her hand over his.“Whatever secret your fire is hiding… we’ll figure it out. Together.”

Elsewhere – Villain Council RoomZaleena kneels before a tall figure cloaked in black and silver shadows—Jehel, the villain leader.“The boy is changing. His power is reacting.”Jehel’s voice is deep, warped. “It’s waking up.”Another figure in the shadows—Sarim, the psychic—nods. “If his true ability resurfaces… he’ll be a threat to both sides.”Jehel leans forward.“Then we must accelerate our plans.”

Meanwhile – Asad’s Hidden BaseAsad watches from afar, seated before a wall of screens showing Yunus’s training. He looks tired. Shadow curls around him.“I bought you time, little brother. But time is running out.”He picks up a silver mask. And puts it on
