Chp 3 - Bonds Beyond Power

It’s the weekend. No classes. No battles. Just sunlight, wind, and the quiet hum of the academy. But for Class 1-A, today isn’t a break. It’s bonding day—assigned by Principal Imam Rahman himself.Ustadh Tariq gathers them in the central courtyard. “Today, no training. Just connection. If you want to fight side by side one day, first learn who you’re fighting for.”He walks away, leaving the students confused. Then Ayaan shrugs. “Well… I guess we talk?”They all sit in a circle under the shade of a large tree. Some look nervous. Others uncomfortable.Yunus sits silently, arms crossed. He doesn’t speak until much later.

Zara goes first.“I want to be a hero because of my older sister,” she says. “She used to fly—wind just like mine. She died saving a bus of children during a villain raid. I want to honor her.”Everyone falls quiet. Even Yunus glances at her with respect.

Hamza speaks next, sitting with his arms on his knees. “My village… it didn’t have heroes. When bandits came, no one saved us. I swore I’d be the first to protect the next generation.”His voice cracks slightly. Huda places a hand gently on his shoulder.

Huda’s turn. “I was born with a healing Quirk. My parents thought I’d be a doctor. But when a hero fell in front of me, bleeding, I couldn’t save him. I realized healing means nothing if you’re too slow to reach them.”She wipes away a tear. “I want to be faster. Stronger. So I can save everyone.”

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

Ayaan smirks, but his voice is soft. “My dad’s a hero. I used to hate him for never being home. But… one day I realized he wasn’t a hero just for the public. He was one so I could sleep safely at night. I want to become someone my future kids can be proud of too.”They all smile a little.

The circle goes quiet when it’s Yunus’s turn.He doesn’t speak at first. Then he lifts his gaze. “I don’t remember everything. But I remember fire. Screams. A hand pushing me away.”He looks down at his palm, flame flickering.“I was saved… but I lost everything. I don’t know if I want to be a hero because I care. Maybe I just want revenge. Maybe I want answers. But I need to be strong. I need to know why I was spared.”The group doesn’t pity him. They just nod.Zara says softly, “That’s reason enough.”

The day ends not with power, but with quiet unity. The team feels different now—stronger, more real.As night falls, they sit around a small fire. They talk. Laugh. Share food. Not as future heroes. But as people.

Meanwhile – Villain’s HideoutZaleena watches Yunus’s image flicker on a screen.“So... he’s bonding.”The masked villain speaks without turning. “Let him. The more roots he grows, the more painful the burn when we rip them out.”She grins. “You’re cruel.”“I’m patient.”
