Chapter 2

'So I won. A raffle I entered on a whim, garnered me a VR headset and a game.' Aiko thought before sighing at the possible problems this could cause her. 'How am I going to hide this?'

Walking to her room, Aiko passed by the extravagant kitchen. With a white marble floor, any stain was easily noticeable. Many unfortunate cooks and cleaners had met a horrible fate at the hands of Aiko's parents on the occasion that so much as a speck of dust was seen by them. Of course, what they didn't know, was that her parents would often choose someone to torture on a whim, regardless of how well they did their job. Despite this, all the servants rushed back and forth, urgently cleaning the kitchen from top to bottom. Leaving the cleaning torture that was the kitchen, Aiko moved past her parents' room.

Visibly shuddering at the sight of the open door, Aiko slowly peered in. The extravagant queen-sized bed on a gold bed frame with tyrian purple duvet greeted Aiko's empty eyes first. The massive room was decorated with paintings worth more than double the money spent on Aiko's life. The room overlooked the entire back garden with windows draped in more tyrian purple curtains and gss doors leading to a big balcony. At the side sat two wardrobes filled to the brim with designer clothes and some lingerie. Not wanting to be caught snooping around the room, Aiko quickly fled the scene, arriving at her only area of privacy, her room.

Aiko's room was more simplistic compared to her parents'. A simple single bed on a wooden frame and a pin white duvet sat opposite the wall she shared with her parents. A wardrobe holding a meagre number of clothes for a girl of her age sat in the corner of the room. A small bookcase with a few untouched books that collected dust decorated her wall. Next to it sat a small wooden desk. Atop her desk sat her lunette* XV ptop, a model neither cheap nor expensive, and a pile of high school work that she had yet to complete. At the foot of her bed sat a wooden chest. On a wall, a helmet rack was screwed on, with her bck, full-face motorbike helmet hanging from it. Cracking open the lock using a hook pick with her lockpicking skills, Aiko hid her VR headset and Kill Zone copy beneath a mountain of gun replicas and her only actual gun, a Glock 17 with one magazine, in case a violent problem requires a violent solution. Locking the chest through reverse lockpicking, she turned her ptop on and started browsing the web for information on more information on what Kill Zone was.

'Good thing I threw the key away into an incinerator. Otherwise, who knows what those two kusoyar?* would take from the chest.' Aiko thought, thanking her past self. Focusing her attention back on her ptop, Aiko found a trailer for the game and sent the link to her phone using a chat with herself using Dissonance. Having found a trailer, she closed the browser and unched a game called 'Arms Helix', an fps battle royale type game with few devout pyers left. Loading into a match, Aiko cracked her knuckles and got ready to dominate.

  Elsewhere...

"Your move. Now that the pawns have given way, the Queen can start to move now." A voice called out from a figure shrouded in white mist as they pyed a strange form of chess. Where pieces should be, the opponent could only see a square shrouded in mystery until the piece was revealed.

"You old bastard, do you not know that revealing the queen this early is asking to lose her? But I guess your billions of pawns can make up for one queen. I do wonder, when will you reveal your king?" A figure cloaked in bck mist chuckled as he revealed and moved a pawn forward on a board that stretched for hundreds of millions of miles.

'It's always rexing, pying a match of Arms Helix' Aiko thought as she stretched her arms. Looking at the pile of books on her desk, she inwardly groaned. 'Now I have all this high school work to do.'

Reluctantly shutting her ptop down, Aiko put it on charge before moving it to the side of the desk. Moving her work to the middle of the desk, Aiko gave up on procrastinating and started to slowly work through the pile of books.

At Westfield's Rifle and Pistol Club...

"Aiko Hartford huh..." Harold sighed after he recounted his 100th attempt at recruiting her. "Such a beautiful girl, born without a rynx."

"The Hartford family?" A petite woman with bck hair and green eyes asked from behind Harold. "Why are you wondering about them?"

"Aiko Hartford has an immense talent for marksmanship. On her first visit, she had a 90% accuracy, with 40% of shots nding on the bullseye." Harold responded, "It would do us good if we were able to recruit her, Jessica. You know the girl with snow-white hair? The girl that was next to me this morning? That's Aiko."

"Oh... The beautiful girl with dead eyes and a DD cup bust?" Jessica recounted her appearance.

Facepalming at Jessica's description of Aiko, Harold responded, "Yes. But why do you know her bust size?"

"Hehe, secret. Anyway, I remember someone called Aiko in the Hartford's Family. She was in the news for being the victim of physical abuse 10 years ago. Guess that's why her eyes are so empty." Jessica said as she looked up news about the Hartford Family from 10 years ago. Pointing at an article about a 7-year old girl being the victim of various types abuse, including physical and psychological. "See?"

"Either way, I don't think she's joining. Today was my 100th time trying to recruit her." Harold said with a concerned face as he read the article before adding, "And also my 100th time being rejected."

  *RING RING RING*

Stretching her hand out of her duvet, Aiko reached for her phone to turn the arm off, failing a few dozen times before getting to the right position and swiping up.

Half-awake, Aiko thought, 'What an annoying arm. Shit, it's Monday.'

Getting the keys to her motorcycle from her chest, she got dressed into a bck bzer and skirt, with a white blouse underneath. Grabbing her biker helmet and backpack, she quickly left the house and rode her motorcycle to school.
