Sitting at my workbench I can't help but marvel at my love. Such creatures the fearless lords of mountains, greed, pride, and fire.Yet I can't help but engrave his majesty into my thoughts. Yigriss, a titanic creature of muscle, scales, horns, and teeth. A dragon, and he was always by my side in the workshop. One of the Primal dragons that enforce a facet of nature simply sitting along the wall of my little shop, and watching me work on my magnum opus.
His gaze was enough to shatter the strongest of walls, empty the densest of cities, and destroy the strongest of wills. All I see in that gaze is a pleasant warmth that lingers on my hands as they meticulously pnt the cogs and gears within the creature I am crafting, but I could only smile as I felt the soft molded metals against my fingertips. An act of faith from an era long since forgotten by such a force of nature, and he did it without hesitation for me.
The cws and teeth used for our little creation molded after the same cws and teeth from the Yigriss in his first years. Left within the mountains that rotted and withered for eons from the domain that the "Withering Dragon" controlled. So many years and yet they remain perfect with nothing having changed since they first grew and fell from his body.
Working away at our collective efforts I could only smile wider as I tested the clockwork, and the gargantuan form shifted closer to myself with care to the various tables and papers littering my shop.
"Tell me, my love, why do you bor for so long with your tiny paws? Why do you no learn the ways of the world that you might make more to assist your work? Golems are simple and perform their duty, Simucrums act upon your orders to fulfill your whims, Forged are able to learn and act as you teach them. Yet you choose to learn nothing of it, and instead bor away with your own two with only minor help from a Primal of all things that decay. Why do you choose this path?"
Listening to the rumbling voice the lingers in my mind, and I could only smile as I slipped another cog into pce. "It is because, the magics you speak of, they require time to learn, time to master, time which I would waste learning instead of creating. My hands are my tools of choice in all that I craft, and now they are crafting something close to my heart and yours as well. There will be a day in which my hands fail me, that my body starts to falter, and my mind begins to drift. Now you ask me to spend much of that time learning a new craft that may make me lose my chance to create what will be our true love. I will ask for your help because they will be just as much yours as mine."
Leaning towards the rge head and pnted my forehead against the end of their ft nose and smiling. "My work is almost done, after which it will be your turn. Such intricate machinery needs a delicate touch, and then your own will give them what they truly need to live. Although we have tried many times before I believe we have the solution this time." My hand gently reaching out and cradling the empty gss sphere floating within a protective bubble of Yigriss' making.
I believe tonight we may yet finish our work, and yet I feel my heart tremble as this may also be our st attempt. My hands growing unsteady in the recent years while I linger more often in my love's embracing warmth.
Turning back to Yigriss with a warm and weary smile. "Tonight, my love, we have what we always desired together. A hatchling of our own."
