Chapter 14 – Bio-Spider Leader

Having anticipated this, Zhang Yi was fully prepared before daring to charge in headfirst. However, he never expected there to be two elite monsters in the house!

With a hammer and boots both enhanced to level 25, Zhang Yi knew he could handle a single elite monster without issue. But facing two at once was a death sentence!

Calming down, Zhang Yi realized that only the first spider was elite; the one currently on him was just a level 5 normal monster!

The level 5 Bio-Spider had 25 attack points, not even enough to break through Zhang Yi's 33 defense points. So, its pounce only took away 1 HP from Zhang Yi!

  What a scare, phew...

Zhang Yi then swung his hammer, sending the rge spider flying off him with a "bang," dealing 63 damage and taking out a quarter of its health.

Taking this chance, Zhang Yi got up from the ground and cast a Detection Skill on the red spider on the sofa, which was noticeably rger than a normal Bio-Spider. The results left Zhang Yi dumbfounded—

[Bio-Spider Leader] (Physical · Elite Monster):

  Level: ???

  Talent: ???

  Physical Attack: ???

  Physical Defense: ???

  Magic Defense: ???

  HP: ???

  Skills: Venom Spray, Pounce

Description: A rge spider mutated due to environmental pollution. Because it ate more than other spiders, it evolved into a leader after mutation...

Goodness, Zhang Yi couldn't even see the spider leader's stats, indicating it was at least level 8!

In the world of Apocalypse, the Basic Detection Skill can only reveal data for monsters up to 3 levels higher than the pyer. Zhang Yi was currently level 4.

In Apocalypse, monsters are categorized into Normal, Elite, Lord, and Boss.

Thus, wielding his level 25 hammer, Zhang Yi began the 1v2 battle.

  Bang!

Another hammer strike nded on the level 5 Bio-Spider, dealing 63 damage and reducing its health by half.

Meanwhile, the spider leader's massive body leaped over the normal spider blocking Zhang Yi, pouncing towards him.

  Pounce!

Caught off guard, Zhang Yi took 35 damage from the spider leader's shoulder hit!

Even the level 25 Man-eating Bug Boots couldn't withstand the spider leader's damage.

The spider leader then used its Venom Spray skill. Zhang Yi, entangled by the normal Bio-Spider and unable to escape, was hit by the venom, but a big "miss" appeared above his head!

The Infinite Evasion talent of the Man-eating Bug Boots was triggered.

Raising his hammer, Zhang Yi was about to deal with the normal spider first but suddenly thought of something and shifted his target to the spider leader.

  Bang!

A hammer strike dealt 45 damage to the spider leader!

The spider leader's health bar only dropped by about one-twentieth, suggesting its total HP was nearly a thousand!

But Zhang Yi remained unfazed, having devised a new strategy.

Using the normal Bio-Spider as a shield, Zhang Yi maneuvered around it, keeping the melee-attacking spider leader at bay while he attacked it with the reach of his hammer.

The normal spider's damage to Zhang Yi was only a mandatory 1 point, so he ignored it, focusing solely on the spider leader.

Fortunately, Zhang Yi's attacks were strong enough, dealing one-twentieth of the spider leader's health with each strike. After about twenty hits, he managed to hammer the elite Bio-Spider Leader to death.

Using the normal spider as a shield, Zhang Yi took minimal damage from the spider leader, ending the battle with more than half his health remaining.

After killing the spider leader, Zhang Yi quickly dispatched his "teammate," the normal Bio-Spider that had helped him greatly, with two hammer strikes.

  A pleasant notification followed—

"Ding~ You have killed level 8 [Bio-Spider Leader], gaining 600 EXP! Human Reputation +6!"

"Ding~ You have killed level 5 [Bio-Spider], gaining 20 EXP!"

Killing elite monsters or higher grants reputation.

The EXP from an 8-level elite monster was comparable to a reward for a level 20 difficulty quest. Thus, after killing the spider leader, Zhang Yi's EXP bar surged significantly.

Crouching down, he picked up 80 Copper Coins, 12 Level 1 Enhancement Stones, and a shiny... Two-Star Treasure Chest next to the spider leader's corpse!

Wow, what luck! The items from a Two-Star Treasure Chest, if equipment, are at least two-star, and Enhancement Stones are at least level 2, far more valuable than a One-Star Treasure Chest.

However, Apocalypse had a rule that opening Two-Star or higher chests required the corresponding key, which could be purchased in the store. Without a Two-Star Key, Zhang Yi had to temporarily store the Two-Star Treasure Chest in his bag.

The Bio-Spider Leader was crucial to the Hidden Quest "Guardian." Killing it essentially completed the quest.

The spider leader, which was nearly invincible to countless new pyers in the previous life, was effortlessly killed by Zhang Yi, thanks to his level 25 hammer and boots. Without these two pieces of equipment, he wouldn't have been able to damage the spider leader or withstand the normal spider's attacks, making the battle precarious.

After dealing with the spider leader, Zhang Yi opened the door and walked out, saying to Ili, who was standing outside, "You can go in and get the stuff now. I'll wait for you."

"Oh... okay!" Ili, wide-eyed and speechless, looked at the two rge spider corpses inside with a hint of fear and walked in.

Taking this opportunity, Zhang Yi opened his backpack and found that, with the 12 Enhancement Stones from the spider leader, the 10 from the quest reward, and a few more from grinding, he had exactly 25 Level 1 Enhancement Stones!

Besides his already level 25 enhanced weapon and boots, Zhang Yi's best equipment was the level 4 [Lucky Ring].

With Divine Enhancement in hand, Zhang Yi didn't hesitate to use all 25 Enhancement Stones on the [Lucky Ring]—

"Ding~ Enhancement successful, congratutions! Your equipment [Lucky Ring] has reached enhancement level 25, unlocking the exclusive talent [Lucky Strike]!"
