Chapter 3: Metallic Madness

  Act 1: Hurt

  The Freedom Fighters are gathered together in their small house as Sonic tells them stories.

  Sonic: And then, right before it could sink its big, slimy fangs into me, I smashed its dumb skull with the Emerald! Felling the foul, rank skunk once and for all!

  Bun: Wow! So brave.

  Ant: Hm! I could 'ave done just as well with zuch tools at my dispozel.

  Bun: I'm sure ya coulda, sugar.

  Sally leaves the room.

  Sonic: Hey, Sal!

  He runs after her.

  Sonic: Hey! What's the big deal?

  Sally: You know, whenever you say that you almost got killed while fighting a big robot and trying to save our people, all I hear is that you almost died. I'm not ready to think about that yet.

  Sonic: Sal, we're all putting ourselves in danger here.

  Sally: I know. I just... I don't know.

  She turns away from him and he reaches for her shoulder before stopping himself for some reason.

  Sonic: … I'm gonna be fine. And, if I'm not, then I'll figure something out when I get there.

  Sally: Heh... I checked with the Network. It looks like you're going to a small Hedgehog village today.

  Sonic: Really? It'll be nice to see some other blue bloods again.

  Sally: Just, don't forget about us when you get there, okay?

  Sonic: Not for the world, Sal.

  Later, Sonic and Tails are flying through the skies in the Tornado-Alpha.

  Tails: So, you actually remember what your people were like?

  Sonic: 'Course I do.

  Tails: Well?

  Sonic: Let's not look at the past. I'd rather keep my eyes on that sweet future!

  Tails: Alright... Is that smoke?

  Looking ahead, the two see smoke stacks coming up from the ground. Tails looks at the GPS screen.

  Tails: Th-That's-

  Sonic: Get us down. Now.

  Tails: O-Okay.

  They land next to a smoldering, burnt down village and they walk through its streets before Sonic stops and looks at a destroyed house. Beyond the village, there's a burning pit that's filled with... Something. The burning pit's smell permeates throughout the village.

  Tails: Sonic?

  Sonic: H-He did the same thing to me. This looks just like...

  As he tears up, a rock hits his head and he turns to see a little, pink girl standing there.

  Tails: Hey! What Was-

  Amy Rose: 11

  Amy: WHY?!!! WHAT DID WE DO TO YOU?!!!

  Through her tears, she puts on an angry face.

  Sonic: I-It's happening again.

  Amy: What?!

  Tails: Look! We Just got here! We had nothing to do with this.

  Amy: You're Wrong! I Saw Him Do It! I'm Not Leaving Until You Tell Me Why!!

  Just then, it starts raining on them. Before Sonic can speak, a distant figure bursts out of the vault and casts its shadow on them as it flies up into the air.

  Sonic: Look, girl, I'm guessing what got them's coming this way. Get behind us if you wanna live!

  Amy: I'll Never Come With You!!

  As Amy starts running away, a robot lands in front of her, puts the red Emerald inside of its own chest compartment, and stares at Amy with its black and red eyes.

  Metal Sonic: Superior Hedgehog

  Metal: I shall take this, as well.

  Metal grabs Amy and picks her up as she tries to fight back.

  Sonic: Let Her Go!!

  Sonic dashes towards Metal, put the robot runs away just as quickly.

  Metal: Sonic, is it? Once I am done with her, this shall be your grave.

  Metal boosts away, using a big engine on his back, with Amy.

  Tails: What should we-

  Sonic: AAAH!!!

  Sonic dashes towards Metal in a rage as Tails runs for the plane.
