The Eclipse happens twice in 2-3 years. People awaken and become “Ascended”. It’s not as simple as everyone gets powers, you have to meet certain conditions. Come from a royal family or high ranked clan. As far as I go, I’m unsure of who my father was, all I know is that he’s from a royal family. He left before I was born, so it’s just my mother and I. My mother isn’t a royal blooded human nor from a clan, she’s just another human you’d see doing their own thing.
Knowing my father is blessed with royal blood, I know I am destined to become Ascended on this next Eclipse. Knowing this, I am eager to explore the ruins that cause horror in this world.
The ruins are shrouded in mystery, but we understand that these ruins promise the Ascended who explore them artifacts, clues, and treasures. We’re still unsure of what the ruins are and how they appear, but we do know that within them lie powerful, magical beasts waiting to have fun. In these ruins, there’s life and death. These lost ruins wait to test us, but we wait to test them too.

- The Day Of The Eclipse -
As the eclipse begins its course, I wonder what type of Ascended I will be. I stand shoulder to shoulder with Alex, my best friend. Despite her petite frame, she’s a powerhouse amongst lots of ascended with not only healing but the addition of destructive power makes her a tough enemy. She decided to come support me, both of our hearts pounding with the anticipation of awakening.
The moon is reaching the sun, Alex tells me becoming an ascended is great and to know I’ve become one is by understanding my body will glow an Aura. You won’t immediately have all the powers your Ascended body has the potential of having, rather you’ll gain a fraction of power and need to work at gaining the rest. Unless you’re lucky.
The moon engulfs the sun, I find myself silent and focused. Waiting to see if I am radiating any sort of glowing color. I can tell Alex is just as focused as I am but both of our moods seem to be diminishing. We’re understanding that maybe I wasn’t lucky, rather I was unlucky and won’t be awakening. She hugs me tightly, refraining from letting me go. I gently hug back.
The hug finally breaks, she asks me to join her and her team tomorrow in a ruins run. I know I’ll only get in the way, but seeing her ask with sad eyes, I could only say yes.
