''UGH-'' With that kick in her stomach, Bridget lost her bance and fell on her ass. She was clutching her stomach for a moment before a shadow blocked the sun and cast a shadow on her face.
''Your improving, that's good.'' Although Lyra's words sounded nice, Bridget saw the mischief in the girl's blue eyes.
''And I'm still getting my ass kicked.'' Bridget had started sparing with some of her siblings, but no matter what she almost always lost, with few exceptions.
''Well it's only logical, for starters your not a fighter, you just recently started sparing with us, and your level therefore your stats are lower that ours, so you getting your ass kicked is only normal.''
As much as Lyra's words were true, it didn't help that Bridget was losing most of her spars. She knew that logically she won't win most of the time, and she knew that her css relied on tools to win fights, but it still sucked. But she didn't beat herself too much, because she fully intended to make stuff not fight, the only reason she was sparing right now was that if she needed to battle, either for self-defence or to hunt materials that she could only get from monsters, she was ready for it.
The sparing got her a few levels in her [Versatile Combat] leveling the skill to level 8, but she was second-guessing if the pain was worth it, it was nothing new, she thought about almost every time she got beaten, but every time after Auriel heals her she forgets it until next time, and then the cycle repeats itself.
Speaking of Auriel, it didn't take long before Bridget felt like her gut started to feel less painful, and looking to her right she saw the light green eyes focused on her gut and a small hand hovering over her stomach. Auriel's healing was still weak but it was effective enough for small things like this, so Bridget just rexed and let Auriel do her thing.
It took some time for her to be healed, but when she was back to the stage where her gut didn't hurt, Bridget signaled Auriel to stop and got back up. She still had some bruises on her arms and legs, but they didn't hurt so much, plus Auriel didn't have the capacity to heal all of her injuries, as she was just a beginner in healing.
''Want to go for another round?'' Hering Lyra's question, Bridget automatically shook her head indicating that she did not want to spare again.
''I had enough for now, plus I have to do other things.'' Bridget still had the idea of making money and that took a while, so it was a priority right now. ''Thanks Auriel.'' After giving her thanks to the young elf, she left and went to her favorite spot to work on some things.
When she got under the tree shade, she used her skill to open the warehouse. Opening the door, it could be seen that the warehouse has grown a bit, and now is a 7x7x7 cube and has some wooden stuff put in one corner. There were some bowls and ptes, some simple canes and other stuff.
Bridget couldn't figure out what she wanted to sell as her first product, so she just didn't decide and went with the idea of just making stuff and hoping it would work out. It might not be the best idea, and quite frankly maybe somewhat dumb but it was better than nothing.
So right now she was trying to make some things that people might be interested in, and when she makes enough she will open a stall and see how it goes, and in the worst case scenario she could try again if this idea fails. Looking around her inventory, Bridget concluded that she could probably open her stall in the next few days. After taking a final look, she took her knife, some wood, and started carving her next item.
While carving, she started to go into the rhythm as the repetitive action of turning the wood and carving it with her knife made her lose focus of the outside world. She didn't slip into her zone state, unfortunately, but Bridget won't compin as this was good, just losing herself in the repetitive action of carving felt good and calming.
Slowly, like this, her hands just started doing things on their own, as if they had a will of their own separate from Bridget, this made Bridget start thinking about other things. So while her hands moved, so did her mind. She started thinking about things she wanted to do, things that she had to do, and things that she had done.
Bridget couldn't help but start to wonder about all the cool stuff she will be able to make in the future, the tools, weapons, and who knows what else, but unfortunately, to get to that she needed skill and money, which she didn't have either of, but it was possible for her to get both.
In actuality, she had to get on, and then the second will follow. If she had a lot of money, she could buy books, instructors, and materials to advance her skill faster, or if she gets skilled enough, she can sell her products, and with more skill comes more quality items, which results in more money. In Bridget's case, she had only one option, and that was the second one, get her skills up, and then the money will come.
Talking about skills, Bridget wanted to get her skill at controlling mana up to where she could start enchanting stuff, but it still has some ways to go, before she could start even using the most basic enchantments. It would be amazing if she could already do that, because enchanting looked so exciting for Bridget, all the amazing stuff you could do with that, the items that could be only be dreamt of on Earth could be mage here, the limit in this world was only their own imagination, and all that was just a finger away from Bridget's reach.
The only thing stopping Bridget from starting the journey of enchanting was her ability to manipute mana, and although she knew that with time she would be able to do it, it didn't stop her from getting frustrated thinking about it and wanting to suddenly have the ability to do it.
While thinking about it, Bridget didn't see that her hands were now moving a little bit faster than before, as if reflecting her own inner turmoil, and after a moment she started to leak a little bit of mana out from her hands. Multiple mana streams started to form on her hands, and Bridget only noticed them when she wanted to take a closer look at the item she was carving.
After realizing that she focused for a second and closed all the streams so that her mana didn't leak out, and got ready to continue her carving, but after a few strokes she had an idea. Bridget stopped her carving for a moment and made a stream of mana leak out of one of her hands, then slowly started carving.
She continued like this until she fell into the repetitive rhythm, after that she slowly started concentrating on the mana stream and tried to slowly control it.
The first few times she failed to do those two things at the same time, she either slowed down or stopped carving, or she started to make mistakes she would not normally make, she even cut her finger one time, but even then she didn't stop trying. It took some time, but finally she did it, she was doing two things at the same time, carving and training her mana manipution.
Bridget knew that she will make more mistakes doing this, but with time and practice, she was sure that at some point she will be able to train without damaging her crafting quality.
