Prologue: Sorrowful Separation

  Prologue: Sorrowful Separation

January 7th, 1992. This winter seems to be particularly cold. At 1 o'clock in the middle of the night, there are no pedestrians on the street. Occasionally, a few late-returning people hurry past, tightly wrapping their clothes and hands, eager to get home quickly, have a hot bowl of soup, and then comfortably lie down in their warm bed for a good sleep.

No one would have noticed that under a small bridge, there were two tiny figures huddled together, a boy and a girl, or rather, two little kids.

Two children, no more than 10 years old, were huddled tightly together, as if trying to dispel the cold air. The boy seemed a bit older, with a hint of maturity on his tender face, although his face had turned pale from the cold, he still used his thin clothes to wrap around the girl in his arms who was shivering all over.

The girl's pale face had an unhealthy flush, her youthful features were delicate and lovely, she would certainly be a beautiful young woman when she grew up, but at the moment, she was extremely weak.

"Brother... I'm sorry, it's me who has been holding you back..." The girl slightly opened her lips and spoke in a soft voice that was as gentle as a mosquito.

"Bing Yue, what nonsense are you talking about, how is it that I'm the one holding you back?" The boy's eyes were slightly moist. "For more than half a year now, I haven't been able to properly protect you, it's all because brother is useless..."

The little girl Xue Yue smiled, lifted her head, and a pale silver moon-shaped hairpin on her hair sparkled. "Brother, you're crying, hehe, how embarrassing! Such a big boy still cries."

"Uh-huh, yeah, brother is so embarrassing..."

The little bridge cave became quiet again. After a while, the wind and snow grew stronger. Looking at the snowflakes flying outside, Bing Yue suddenly spoke up "Brother."

  "Huh?"

"We've seen a lot of snow, but I've never seen the sea, do you know what it's like?" Bing Yue asked with a dazed expression, staring at the fluttering snow.

"Sea?" The boy raised his head "I've never seen the sea either, I only know that the sea is very vast and endless."

"An endless sea?" Bing Yue suddenly opened her mouth and smiled, her weak laughter still as pleasant as the tinkling of a wind chime. "I really want to see the sea once, I don't know if it's really that beautiful..."

"Uh, brother will definitely take you to see the sea, not just the sea, but also beautiful mountains, beautiful grasslands, and many more beautiful scenery, I'll definitely take you... Bingyue! Bingyue!" Suddenly, the boy exclaimed, Bingyue's lovely little face had completely lost its blood color, her soft body weakly fell into the boy's arms, and there was no longer any breath.

"Yue Bing, Yue Bing! No, wake up quickly, I want to take you to see the sea, and the mountains, Yue Bing!"

A mournful cry echoed through the narrow bridge tunnel, but his sister could no longer open her eyes to look at the sea with him.

"No! How cruel can the heavens be? She's only 9 years old! Why must she suffer like this, why?! The boy's heartbreak turned to anger. "Isn't there a god in this world? If so, then why not save her? Fine, if you won't, I'll do it myself, even if it means going against the gods, I'll save Bingyue!" A resolute determination appeared on the face of a 10-year-old child, with an unyielding will burning in his eyes.
