Elven Realm
“Did you hear?” Came a rushed voice as the door to my office slammed open. “A human managed to defend against an onslaught of spells.”
“Anyone could defend against first-grade spells. While it is impressive that one could do so after only a short time learning magic, it is by no means an impossible feat.” I said, continuing to scan through the documents on the desk in front of me.
“It was a mix of first-grade spells and combat magic cast by various professors.” Now that was impressive. While mage spells were weaker than our elven magics, they were faster and more versatile.
“So, he has a mana pool large enough to support a massive defensive formation. It isn’t something new. There is nothing we can learn from such an ability.”
“Our spies tell us that he was unconscious when help arrived. On top of that, evidence suggests that he was leaking pure mana onto the ground.”
That caught my attention. No flesh, minus dragon, is able to handle pure manas corrosive effects. It took years for a mage to gain enough power even to be able to work with the stuff. The thicker the mana in their core, the more pure mana they could produce and handle at any one time. “How did he survive and what ended up happening to his barrier?”
You might be reading a pirated copy. Look for the official release to support the author.
“He almost didn’t. The only reason his barrier came down was when he woke up for a brief second and took it down.”
“If he keeps up this growth, he may become useful for us soon.” My thoughts moved over the goal I had been working toward. Thinking how I could work such a pawn into the web of plans.
“The only issue is the wolf Beast Kin that appeared by his bed in the hospital. It is gone for now, but…”
“But that means he has a mate.” I finished. “Find out if their bond is sealed or not. If not, then we need to get him into our debt. Is the academy holding its annual competition?”
“It is.”
“Good, send one of the girls to meet him there. Make sure it is one of the unclaimed. If we get lucky, he might become infatuated with her. Human males tend to gravitate to the prettier girls after all.”
“It shall be done.” She curtseyed before turning and exiting the room. A smile grew on my lips. The next document on the table tore it from my face. The damn dwarves were demanding access to another pocket world to mine resources from. It was like they thought we had the mana to do that. While our world was more stable compared to the other three, it was by no means flush with excess mana.
