Epilogue II

  Dragon Realm

“Nate Drachen, for your crimes, I charge you to protect a single human town.” Came the judges booming voice.

I growled, “Why should I protect those insects?”

“Maybe you should have thought about the possible consequences when you raided the magistrate’s warehouse for alcohol.” Honestly, the punishment was a chore and nothing more.

“Does it matter how I go about doing it?” I asked, thinking through a recent report I had read.

“As long as the majority of the town is protected, it does not matter. Dismissed.”

With that, I turned and walked out of the court room. The entire way home I started to craft a plan. First things first, I needed to get ahold of this newbie enchanter. He was unlikely to know who his enchanting professor was, nor his worth after learning from him. All I needed to do was to get him into a magical contract with me. Then I could get him to protect the town for me.

If he went without a fight, I might even let him keep his wolf mate. If not, she wouldn’t be all that hard to dispose of.
