As I start to take off the confetti, I get a better look at my roommates. There are, as I said, three of them. Two of them are girls, and the other is a dude. Sorry to ruin your harem fantasy.
Starting with the guy, he has a well-defined physique as well as a weird haircut that looks like a kappa. The moment I noticed this, I also observed that there is an abundance of cucumbers—like an absurd amount of cucumbers. Cucumbers on the counter, in everyone's pockets, even in this guy's mouth, like a weird cowboy-esque thing with the hay being repced by a cucumber.
The leftmost girl is Mira; I don't think she needs an expnation—a cold beauty, hot in her own sense. The other one is a more gal-ish sort of person. If this were a high school, she would be the popur kid.
Before I notice anything more, I get a massive headache in the frontal lobe.
“Hey, is there anywhere I can sit down?” I ask.
“Oh, there is a sofa over there,” the kappa-looking guy says, gesturing to the sofa.
As I sit down, the pain gets stronger, and then it stops. A very well-muscled man with white hair and a white beard that looks like it comes from old age walks into the room.
“Where is your gratitude for your new life, your new friends, your new home? I granted you a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and you take it for granted,” he says.
“I-I don't know who I am. The friends I made are gone. Back on Earth, I had a clear pce; I knew who I wa—” I reply, being cut off mid-sentence.
“That's something I cannot answer. The sense of self is something you can build only by yourself, but one of your friends is not gone. Think about it—connected.” After saying this, he vanishes into thin air, and all movement continues. I sit there for a second, thinking about what he said.
“You good?” Mira asks.
I come back to my senses and say, “I'm fine; don't worry about me.”A bell goes off. All three of them say, “Lunchtime!” at the same exact time. “I think today is mystery meat day, unfortunately,” the girl-like person says. “Aw, I was hoping they had cucumbers,” said the kappa-like person. I'm just going to call him a kappa. There is too much evidence. “All you want are cucumbers!” Mira says. I get up and ask, “Where's the cafeteria?” “I'll show you; come on,” the girl-like person replies. The girl and I leave for the cafeteria. -After a few seconds of walking- “So, what's your name?” she asks. “It's Aaron. Yours?” I reply. “Beatrice!” she excims. (Keep in mind she said this as if it were the most important thing in the world. It strikes me as a bit narcissistic. Honestly, it makes me want to punch her in the face.) “Ah, here it is,” Beatrice says in an uninterested tone. I turn to look at the cafeteria. Ugh, that's one ugly cafeteria. I'm wondering how this is even halfway up to code. It's a rundown, dusty, food-stained, spider web-filled room. “We got it pretty good, right?” Beatrice asks. “Are you crazy? It's ugly as hell!” The urge to punch her in the jaw is not going away. I go in and look at the food that's being served. It's filled with maggots. I wouldn't be surprised if the lunch dy was Marguerite Baker from Resident Evil 7. I go back to the dorm. Mira is standing there. “Worse than you thought, right?” she asks. Mira's POV – Ah, the feeling of coming back from a mission. One of, if not the best feelings in the world. There is a new member in the dorm today. The new person is Aaron. He is the one connected to my group. The information hasn't leaked yet to the others that he is the connected one, but it will get hectic for me once it does. Thump, thump. Is that my heart? No, it can't be.
