The Taoist school has a technique called "soul escape", which allows the practitioner to let their soul leave their body for about the time it takes to burn an incense stick. The soul is usually unable to feel the thoughts of the main body after leaving, and this is where the danger of this technique lies - everything the soul sees, hears, and experiences can be known by the practitioner, but if someone touches the practitioner's physical body or the soul does not return within the specified time, the result will be the loss of the practitioner's life.
However, after using this technique, the practitioner will usually feel mentally weak within about a week, and in severe cases, they may even fall seriously ill. The Mao Shan sect has been cautious in its use of this technique since San Mao Zhen Jun first created it, and it is said that in earlier years, Daoist priests who used this method could move freely between the realms of yin and yang, but now there are only a handful of people left who know how to use it.
A yellow paper with Zhu San written on it is the birth eight characters of Cha Wenbin, which is the fate symbol. Then light a lamp, if there is no condition, use a small bottle, pull some cotton from the clothes to make a wick, light it and put it beside, this is the fate lamp. The symbol is contained in Cha Wenbin's mouth, pressed down with his tongue, this is closed gas. The oil lamp is placed just below the symbol, if the soul returns at that time, the symbol will automatically fall onto the wick, the symbol burns and the lamp goes out, then it is back to yang.
It's best for the spellcaster to have someone guarding them to prevent being disturbed, and Cao Wenbin's life can be said to have been handed over to Pangzi.
Zha Wenbin sat cross-legged, lit an incense stick with one hand and placed it under his nose to sniff. He then took a deep breath in and chanted: "A stick of clear incense rises, three souls gather from heaven and earth; the Five Elements and Taiji accompany me on my journey, seven spirits emerge from their sheaths and wander freely, the Supreme Lord Lao commands urgently like a law!"
When he finished, his eyes closed, and the smoke from the incense in his hand was very strange. It didn't float in the air, but instead, it drilled into Zhang Wenbin's nostrils one strand after another. If you looked closely, you would find that the smoke entered through the left nostril, while the right nostril was exhaling smoke, circulating in and out.
So what did Cha Wenbin see after he escaped?
It's bewildering, all white, a vast expanse of fog, unable to distinguish east, south, west, or north, unable to tell up from down, front from back. As if standing on clouds, the ground beneath one's feet is invisible, and the view stretches out endlessly. There's only a coffin floating in mid-air, spinning ceaselessly.
As it spun, the air around it began to move as well. As it moved, a small black dot appeared at the bottom of the coffin. The white mist around the black dot rotated rapidly, and soon a tornado-like airflow began to tear through the surroundings, causing the coffin to spin even faster.
That black dot began to grow slowly, and at the same time, sounds started to appear in Cha Wenbin's ears, with men and women, crying and wailing, all kinds of tragic and heart-wrenching screams that made people feel numb.
The black spot is still expanding, now it's as big as a washbasin. The winds around are getting stronger and stronger, that force has already made Cha Wenbin's soul start to lose control and move forward. That power seems like a pair of huge hands pressing on Cha Wenbin's back, forcibly pushing him forward, step by step towards the black hole...
"What's wrong with him?" asked the fatty to Ye Qiu, he saw that Cha Wenbin's forehead was constantly sweating, his eyebrows were tightly locked, and his teeth were clenched.
"Not good, hurry up." Ye Qiu snatched the talisman from Cha Wenbin's mouth and threw it onto the lamp wick on the ground. With a "whoosh", a burst of flames erupted, shooting straight at Cha Wenbin's face, filling the air with the smell of burnt hair.
It was unclear whether the fire had come too suddenly and burned him, but Zhao Wenbin let out a loud "ah" and suddenly sat up from the ground, slapping at the flames on his body, causing Baozi to burst into laughter.
"What did you order?"
The fat man thought that Zhang Wenbin was going to blame him, so he quickly shifted the responsibility and said: "It wasn't me, it was that little brother who ordered it."
Unexpectedly, Cha Wenbin instead said kindly to Ye Qiu: "Thank you, if I was any later I wouldn't have made it back."
Ye Qiu saw his disheveled appearance and also felt a bit embarrassed: "Looking at your situation, something seems off, so..."
Zha Wenbin didn't say much, walked to the coffin and said: "Come on, let's work together to push open this coffin."
I thought this coffin would weigh around 400-500 pounds, and with three big men, including a strongman, they should be able to move it. But when they joined forces to push it, the coffin felt like it was stuck to the floor, no matter how hard they tried, it wouldn't budge.
The fat man even used a shovel as a crowbar, but it still didn't work. The coffin was stuck to the ground in an extraordinary way.
"Good grief! Old Chang, what made you think of moving it?"
"I see something underneath it." "What?" "Can't see clearly, so I think I'll push it open."
"Hey little bro, lend me your knife for a sec."
Ye Qiu hesitated for a moment, but still handed the black dagger in his hand to Pangzi. Pangzi took the knife and weighed it in his hand, sighing: "Good knife, let me try if it's fast enough!" After that, he slashed down at the coffin with one knife, "Dong" sound, Pangzi only felt a numbness in his tiger mouth, and the knife bounced back due to the force, suddenly he couldn't even hold it.
This knife, the fatty used a great deal of strength, originally thinking that if he couldn't push it open, he might as well chop it open. However, this knife only left a small gap on the coffin, not even as big as a fingernail. The fatty's face turned red, disregarding the soreness in his palm, and raised the knife again, but was stopped by Ye Qiu who grasped his wrist saying: "Don't waste your energy."
On the other side, Wen Bin was also studying the gap. As he looked at it, he suddenly started to crawl into the coffin. Not only did he crawl in, but he also lay down and changed positions, seemingly feeling uncomfortable, adjusting again. Then he stuck his head out and said: "Hey, you two help me close the lid."
The fat man came back to his senses and looked at him with some confusion, asking: "What's this?"
Cha Wenbin said with a relaxed face: "How can you get the tiger's son if you don't enter the tiger's den? Just like Ye Qiu said, this tomb was originally used for the dead. The coffin is empty, I think it's prepared for me, let me sleep in and take a look at the specifications of a big family."
Fatso jumped up and went to pull Zhang Wenbin, saying: "Hurry up and come out, it's unlucky!"
"Ha! You still believe in this? No worries, I'm just doing my job. Help me close it and I'll give it a try. Don't forget to open it for me later, or I'll suffocate inside."
After that, Cha Wenbin himself pulled the coffin lid up, and Fatso followed suit. When the coffin lid was fully closed, Fatso felt a bit uneasy and hesitated for a moment, but Cha Wenbin sealed the last gap by himself.
This lasted for a full ten minutes, and there was not the slightest sound from inside the coffin. Later, Ye Qiu told me that he and Pangzi had been standing guard beside the coffin the whole time, without taking their eyes off it for a moment. After about ten minutes, both Ye Qiu and Pangzi felt that something was amiss - this was going on for too long. So Pangzi went to knock on the coffin lid.
He knocked a few more times, but there was still no response inside. The fatty felt something was off and asked Ye Qiu: "Should we open it?"
Ye Qiu pushed with one palm, and the fat man pulled back at the other end. With a "whoosh", the coffin opened, but what was revealed was an unacceptable fact: there was nothing inside the coffin!
Zha Wenbin is a Taoist, he can't do magic or conjuring. He can only create some unbelievable situations that ordinary people find hard to understand, but he can't perform any great magic like turning people into animals!
Two people saw him crawl in with their own eyes, but now, where is the person? Inside came out a smooth coffin board, nothing was left...
The fat man searched inside and outside of that coffin thoroughly. It's just this small place, where can it go? But he insisted that it was gone.
Fatso was anxious and could only find Ye Qiu. He grabbed Ye Qiu's collar and said, "You've been here before, tell me! Was it you who brought us here? You were acting suspiciously all along the way, what kind of good intentions did you have?"
Ye Qiu didn't argue with Paozi anymore. In the current situation, arguing was useless, they had to think of a way to solve it. He said: "It's just such a small space, if you don't believe me, then put me in there too."
"You think I don't dare?" As he spoke, the fatty suddenly lifted Ye Qiu and threw him into the coffin, then picked up the coffin lid and "thudded" it shut. Not satisfied, he sat on top of it with a thud.
The fatty sat on the coffin for two or three minutes, thinking that something was not right, and this matter still needed to be discussed with someone. He still had some admiration for Ye Qiu's skills. Thinking in his heart whether he had done something excessive, this person was like that, impulsive for a moment. When he opened the coffin to apologize to Ye Qiu, a ghostly scene appeared again: the inside of the coffin was still empty...
