Chapter 6: Level grinding With Dragons

“I think it’s time we take you three level grinding,” Ainz Ooal Gown said, the father of the three girls looking down on them as they sat in their school chairs.

It had been five years since Tanya had cast her first spell, and now it was time to progress even more. Wictoria and Erika hadn’t really had the need or want to grow as fast as their slightly older sister, so they were only just figuring out what weapons they preferred.

Wictoria was deemed just old enough to use the guns that they had, and Erika had decided to stick with learning politics. The young dy that was heir to the Kingdom wasn’t all that interested in combat. While she did se the appeal, she didn’t want to become a battle junkie like her sisters in her past life as Erich.

“Now, I have been told by Ninya,” their father said as he pointed toward the rather stiff maid, “that there are frost dragons in the mountain ranges. I was also informed that there is a nation of dwarves in those mountains as well. So, we will be going there along with Shalltear, Aura, and Aeskell to go level grinding,” he finished with a puff of his chest.

Wictoria, along with Erika, didn’t really have a good grasp on what level grinding was. Of course, Tanya knew, as she had been a rather devout gamer in her first life. Yet, she still raised her hand anyway. Her father saw this and pointed to her.

“Yes Tanya?” he said, “have any questions?”

She nodded her head and spoke, “Father, I don’t think Erika and Wictoria know what level grinding actually is,” she said and Ainz bnked.

He hadn’t even thought of that. After all, the rest of the NPCs knew what gamer lingo meant. After all, they had been a game just over a decade earlier. He just hadn’t had the thought of his own kids not knowing what gamer lingo is.

He then looked at his two other kids, and decided to expin how levels worked in this new world that still didn’t have a name. Of course, if they brought up any other questions, he would happily answer as a good father should.

“Level grinding is when a person does an action repeatedly to get good at it. at least, that is one way to describe it. To level grind as we are about to do, is to go to an area with a rge amount of enemies and sy them all for the sake of growing stronger through levels. You all are rather low leveled, weak, so we are going to kill all the dragons in the area for the sake of your strength,” he expined in a way that he thought made sense.

“What’s levels?” Wictoria asked quickly, and Ainz thought that the day was going to be a long one.

  …

As Aeskell walked down the hallway with her husband and their merry band of people, she smiled. It had been a long time, and by long time she meant a long time since she had gone out.

Sure, she had been to the empire and Re-Estize countless times in the past decade. Yet, she hadn’t really explored with her family. She had really only done the job that she had basically walked right into when she fell in love with Ainz.

After all, he had accidently walked into this life as well. She wasn’t about to compin about that. She shook her head of those thoughts. Now was not the time to think of the past, now was the time to focus on the future of her children!

As the seven of them walked down the hallway, a gate opened and beckoned them through. As they stepped through the gate though, their pce changed. As it always did. In pce of the hallways of the guild base, there was now open and cultivated swampnd.

She looked around, she hadn’t been here in a while. The pce in question was the Lizardman Vilge that Cocytus had taken over. The nd was much more cultivated and colonized than it had been. The houses were more plentiful, and the people here seemed much happier all around.

As Aeskell looked around, she spotted a statue of a certain someone. Said someone was standing right beside her, looking at his own visage and grumbling. Her husband was looking at the statue, that for all intents and purposes, looked just like him, but made of stone.

After he turned to her, and saw her smirk, he grumbled some more and looked to the only other non-Lizardman in the whole of the vilge that wasn’t a part of their party right now.

“Cocytus,” Ainz intoned, “I pn on taking my children to the Azerlisia Mountains to go and aid them in level grinding. I have also heard of a nation of dwarves that live there. I pn on making an acquaintance and a possible alliance with them. I have heard that one of the lizardmen that live here has been and lived with these dwarves, may I meet them?” he asked, and the kneeling Cocytus bowed even deeper.

They were kneeling off to the side, the floor guardian and the citizens of this vilge. The rger Vermin lord kneeled and dwarfed the size of the Lizardmen. Next to him, kneeled the lizardman in question. He seemed shocked to be called upon, in all honesty.

“Of. Course. My. Lord!” Cocytus spoke, then gestured to the person next to him, “This. is. Zenberu Gugu. The. Lizardman. That. Has. Been. To. The. Dwarven. Nation. In. The. Azerlisia Mountains,” he said and the lizardman in question looked up.

“Hello,” he said almost comically quickly, “if you don’t mind me asking, what will you do to the dwarves? Other than make an alliance if possible?” he asked.

Cocytus seemed put off by the casualness of his servant, and made to grip his halberd. Yet, Ainz stopped him with a raise of his hand. The Vermin Lord stopped his hand, and unclenched his fist.

Ainz then turned to Zenberu, and looked down at him. He stated his words clearly, with little room for misinterpretation.

“In pn on researching the rune magic of their people and perhaps taking it for myself,” he then turned to the mountains themselves, “I also pn on exterminating the dragon that live there so that my children can gain some experience in real combat,” he said and turned back, does that answer your question?”

“Yes, it does,” he said, “very clearly.”   “Good,” Aeskell said while cpping her hands, “lets go on a family adventure!” she shouted and made her way to another portal that had just popped up on the edge of the area, “we already have all the gear that we need and you all need. So, let’s go!”

Tanya, Ainz, Erika and the rest simply shook their heads at the supreme beings impatience and vigor in this matter. Though, Ainz and Shalltear did wonder how long it had been since they cut loose.
