Chapter 78:On The Edge of Death.

A loud knocking could be heard as the couple tried to ignore it. The knocking continued as Adeline sank her face into Melora’s breasts, enjoying the warmth. The knocking got louder as Adeline released a frustrated groan while Melora stroked her hair.

“I will get it.” Melora got up, and the chains on her hands rattled, which confused her slightly. She grabbed the bed sheet, exposing Adeline’s naked back, and wrapped it around herself. She slowly opened the door and saw Valerie standing next to the bck wolf. Valerie stared at her and took a minute to take in the chains, then the asleep Adeline on the broken bed with her ass hanging out.

“Umm okay, so representatives of adventure guilds and mercenaries from the empire, Joma, and the surrounding kingdoms have arrived and wish to see you. I will just go ahead and tell them that it will take a minute,” Valerie spoke as she turned, but the wolf entered the room and jumped on Adeline, completely breaking the bed with a rge thud.

“Ask the maids to prepare a shower and our royal dresses, and umm send a dwarves to fix our bed,” Melora spoke as Adeline slightly turned.

“Right.” Valerie turned and walked out to the main doors. Shortly after, the remaining maids came in and started to sort out the aftermath. Adeline zily got prepared but received a boost from Melora’s kisses and touches while they bathed. Adeline wore her dark dress with red sparkles, while Melora wore the same dress but with a rge purple coat. The bck wolf followed the two behind, towering over them. The maids opened the main doors where Valerie was waiting, holding her sword as she joined the fleet behind them. They made their way downstairs as the trolls and orcs bowed in respect until they reached the throne room.

The old butler opened the door as the trio entered, with the rge wolf having to slightly kneel to enter. The delegation instantly cowered at the sight of the two demons and the rge wolf. They took their seats on the throne as the rge wolf y behind them. The seasoned mercenaries were only slightly intimidated, but the Adventurer Guild leader was quickly scanning everyone as if preparing for a quick escape if needed, but his eyes remained on Melora, whom he instantly recognized. The others took a moment, but they too realized as they started to talk among themselves. They were more beautiful than any noble he had ever seen. He forcefully diverted his eyes to the table so he could concentrate.

The door opened once more as Bihse, who was covered in blood, and Tymon entered. They bowed before the throne and took their seats as Adeline gave Bihse a sharp look, but she simply shrugged.

“Will the others join us?” Adeline spoke.

“No, your majesty, they are busy with their responsibilities,” Tymon answered.

“I see, so what brings you here at this time?” Adeline spoke with an annoyed tone. Her morning was already ruined, having to wake up so early and not even be able to have her morning sex with Melora.

“My name is Vincent, the head of all adventure guilds in this continent. I personally came to establish an early retionship with your new kingdom.” Vincent, who took over for his bedridden father, was young but very experienced, having followed his father. He was also very handsome with bright silver hair and a well-toned body. The power he commanded was considerable to that of a small nation, with his services deeply engraved in all facets of life, from buying a simple trinket from the streets to the underworld filled with spies and illegal activities.

“Ah yes, you,” Adeline spoke as a rare smile appeared, but Melora gnced at her.

“Are you aware of the illegal buying and selling of banned items such as live creatures from the forests or parts of their corpses?” Melora took control of the situation as she stared down at Vincent.

“I was made aware of such dealings, and we have dealt with them accordingly,” Vincent answered as he removed a parchment from his coat. Valerie approached him and took the parchment. She inspected it to make sure there was nothing out of the normal then returned to the queens' side and handed it to Adeline. She opened it and started to read, but it was only different names. She handed it to Melora, who had a slightly different reaction.

“Those are the names of all the nobles who partook in these types of trades. As you have noticed, some of them are Credoan nobles,” Vincent spoke as he maintained his bnk expression.

“And?” Adeline instantly dismissed him as she turned to Valerie. “Can you see if they brought the weapon I requested?”

“Right away, your highness.” Valerie bowed and left the hall as both Tymon and Bihse shook their heads. Vincent was quick to take in the subtle change in mood. He stared at Adeline, who was slumped in her seat, then Melora, who sat upright and looked dignified.

“I understand your hostility towards me and my people for what we have done, and I take full responsibility for that in order to remedy it,” Vincent chose his words carefully but chose not to look at them.

“I am very interested in why you had a sudden change of heart. Did your profits start to dry out, or was it your trading routes?” Adeline spoke as she stared at Vincent, who remained quiet. He had heard whispers of Adeline’s brutal way of governing and her smarts and prepared accordingly, but at this moment all of that was for naught. Tymon raised his hand as he received permission to speak.

“Please be open with us. What is your true reason?” Tymon turned and faced Vincent.

“It is as her majesty mentioned, a trade route to connect the empire to the Kingdom of Ragnar and Joma. I also wish to start doing trade within your walls. I believe this will be a mutually beneficial endeavor for both parties,” Vincent concluded as Adeline’s gaze remained the same.

“Your highnesses, I propose we implement a tax on the adventurous guild and trading companies below them. They should also provide adequate payment upfront if they wish to open business here; this will not include the taxes,” Tymon expined as he stared at them. This was a logical compromise and also would bring a lot of funds into the kingdom, which was needed, but he knew they were not normal rulers. They both turned to each other as they shared a gaze, then back to Tymon then Vincent.

“That is an excellent suggestion. We are always pleased to have you among our ranks, Sir Tymon,” Melora spoke with a smile as he slightly bowed.

“How do you find this suggestion, Vincent?” Melora stared at him. He paused at first as he scanned her smile then turned to Adeline, who still looked upset. This was not something to think about; it was a very good compromise, but his gut said otherwise. His heart suddenly started to beat rapidly, and he started to sweat profusely. He clenched his chest as his vision blurred. It was then he saw a wicked smile on Adeline’s face. Melora clenched Adeline’s hand as the two shared another gaze.

“Fine,” Adeline spoke as Vincent’s heart started to calm down as he took a minute to recover. He stared at Adeline then Melora once more as he took several deep breaths. This was his first time experiencing death. Fear drowned his entire body as his mind raced. He thought maybe he should have brought an S-tier adventurer with him. He gnced at them once more but dismissed that thought; they would have been useless.

“I accept that suggestion; it is completely fair,” Vincent answered with a puff as he started to dry his drenched face with his handkerchief.

“Vincent, was it?” Adeline spoke as she stared at him.

“Yes, that is my name, your highness.”

“You seem to be a very smart person, so I think you already understand the consequences if you were ever to be a smart ass,” Adeline spoke as Vincent nodded.

“But I am not convinced. Businessmen like yourselves always have some underlined trick, a big aha moment. You also don’t really know when you stop because you're greedy,” Adeline spoke as Vincent swallowed dry saliva.

“What can I do to convince you of my intentions?” Vincent spoke as he waited for a reply, but the doors swung open, terrifying him as he jumped off his seat. This drew a hearty ugh from Adeline, who was instantly disciplined by Melora with a firm pinch. This act gave Vincent a glimpse of their retionship as his mind started to rethink his approach. Valerie entered, dragging a rge two-handed sword. It was almost the height of a human and had a unique one-sided edge which slowly curved inwards. The edge was bright silver, while its spine was completely dark, making it look like a crescent moon. Three small iron rings lined its spine, giving it a ringing sound every time Valerie dragged it. She passed him as he stared down at the bde and saw weird symbols along its spine which were hard to make out. The giant sword dug deep into the stone floor, leaving a trail behind it.

Valerie, with a grunt, tried to carry it up the stairs as visible sweat appeared. He wondered how heavy the sword was, but once she handed it to Adeline, she effortlessly wielded it with one hand. She swung it around, creating a ringing sound. A wide smile was pnted on her face, then her eyes nded on Vincent.

“I will call you the red moon,” Adeline spoke with her eyes still on Vincent. The markings glowed bright red then returned to normal.

“In order to convince us, you need to part with the thing you treasure the most,” Adeline spoke as she pnted the sword to the ground with a rge bang.

“I treasure a lot of things, your highness,” Vincent answered.

“What comes to your mind first? Don’t you dare lie to me; you see that troll woman, she can read minds,” Adeline pointed at Bihse, who looked confused. Vincent looked down at the table as he closed his eyes. He wondered if all of this was worth it to begin with, doing a deal with the devil for more money and gains. The vivid picture of his wife appeared as his mind was made up.

“I am sorry, your highness, but I cannot hand her over. It is not worth it,” Vincent spoke as he awaited her wrath but was met with cps. He turned towards Adeline, who was cpping, and Melora next to her, smiling.

“You are completely correct; it is not worth it. We will accept Tymon’s suggestion, but keep this in mind. If you ever pull a fast one on us, I will kill everyone around you and deliver pieces of their bodies to your house,” Adeline spoke ominously as her red mist slowly filled the room.

“We look forward to working with you. Tymon will be your first point of contact,” Melora spoke with a smile as the red mist ignited then dissipated.

“T..thank you,” Vincent bowed as he ran out of the entrance. Adeline let out a delighted ugh as he stared at the man.

“What a funny man,” Adeline commented as Tymon simply closed his eyes, having saved another soul. Her attention turned to the Mercenaries, who all looked unbothered by Adeline’s theatrics.
