Chapter 73: Snakes in the Grass.

Melora was the first to open her eyes as the familiar ceiling came into vision. She turned to her side and saw Adeline’s beautiful face. She parted her bck hair and held her cheek. Adeline slowly opened her eyes as the two faced each other.

“Nice horns,” Adeline spoke as she let out a small ugh, reaching up towards her head, she felt her tag her head.

  “What color is it?”

“It is a deep purple with gold lines. It suits you; welcome to the club,” Adeline spoke in a gentle voice.

“Why thank you, we probably need to get up.”

  “One more minute, or maybe…”

Adeline slid her fingers down to her slit and watched Melora start to gasp as she id a kiss on her. She invaded Melora’s mouth with her tongue as she pyed with her clit. Melora let out small gasps in between kisses as her mind and body were getting assaulted by the sudden rush of pleasure. Melora, now in the mood, instinctively bit down on Adeline’s lip, piercing it and sucking the blood out. Adeline let out a delighted moan as she pulled Melora closer with her free hand.

  “Your fangs are sharper also.”

“I am sorry, did that hurt too much?”

“I want you to hurt me.” Adeline bit down on Melora’s lip and resumed kissing as their blood mixed. Someone could be heard clearing their throat outside the tent as they both stopped and returned to reality.

“Excuse me, your Highness, but the nobles have arrived with the army,” Valerie announced.

Adeline let out a disappointed sigh as she retracted her fingers, which were now covered in juices. Melora took her hand and started to suck on her fingers in an erotic way while maintaining eye contact.

“Some of the maids were able to create a small shower and have clothes prepared for you,” Valerie spoke once more as she waited for a reply.

“Make it for two,” Melora finally answered as she stared at Adeline with a mischievous smile. Adeline sprang into action as she pulled away the bnket. It was then she saw purple lines from her feet towards her midsection, which then turned the normal red she was used to. She stared at Melora, who had the same lines, but hers stopped at her neck. She touched them as they both received a jolt. It was hard to understand, but they could feel each other’s emotions at that very moment; it was both alien and familiar at the same time. One emotion came to the forefront of their hearts. They both ughed as they pnted a small kiss and got up. Melora stretched as Adeline smacked her ass as she watched it jiggle with satisfaction. Valerie, who was still outside, cleared her throat once more. Adeline wore her neckce as her horns and the lines disappeared, then covered their bodies with the remains of their clothes and peeked outside. Only Valerie could be seen outside.

“There is no one in the immediate area for privacy.”

“Good job, knight woman,” Adeline gave her a thumbs up.

“Thank you, Valerie,” Melora spoke as she came out. Deep marks could be seen on her back, which Adeline tried to hide. She too had a rge bite mark on her shoulder and several nibbles on her neck. Valerie scanned the area to make sure no one was snooping as she escorted them to the shower, which was covered by white sheets. A few maids stood outside.

  “Your shower is ready.”

“Thank you.” Melora entered as they saw the marks. Adeline, who was following close by, was stopped by the maids as they pointed to another bath.

Melora grabbed Adeline and pulled her inside as the maids gnced at each other. The two took an unnaturally long bath, which was filled with giggles and light moans. Once they were done, the maids entered and started to dress them. As usual, Melora wore her chain mail first, then her signature dress. Adeline wore one of Melora’s dresses, which thankfully fit.

The duo left with Valerie close behind as they made their way back to the camp. A group of nobles could be seen sitting down while the rest stood behind them. Next to them were the generals, who remained quiet. The nobles stared at the purple fme, which still shone brightly even after being left the previous night. The fire flickered as Melora approached. Her mind reverted to that of a ruler as she sat across from the generals, where her sword remained untouched. Adeline sat next to her as she scanned the nobles, who wore reserved but expensive clothing.

“I greet you, Grand Duchess. You must have been tired after all that happened, but we are here. Credoa will stand firm.” Marquis Jorge was the first to talk with a wide smile as the nobles behind him nodded.

“Thank you, Marquis. I would like to introduce you to Queen Adeline and our new allies.”

“I greet the Queen of Arbegon; it is a pleasure to have you here with us.”

  “The pleasure is mine.”

“Grand Duchess, would you be able to debrief us on what happened?” Jorge slightly scooted forward, ready to listen.

“I killed the crown prince for his disrespect, then was attacked by the undead shortly after, resulting in this,” Adeline expined briefly. The nobles started to murmur amongst themselves. After a short time, Jorge cleared his throat once again.

“While I am sure the Grand Duchess had her reasons, we feel like you should have consulted us before acting.”

Adeline stared at the nobles as anger slowly rose but was stopped by Melora, who tapped her hand.

“Given the situation, I am afraid consultation was not possible,” Melora answered in a calm voice.

Jorge knew he had the upper hand in this situation. Most would agree that the Grand Duchess’s action ignored the power the nobles held, so they needed compensation for that infringement.

“Does this mean Credoa will become an independent kingdom?”

“Naturally, yes. That is why I called everyone here. I want to formally announce the new kingdom of Credoa, with me as its queen.” The generals started to hit their chests in solidarity while the nobles cpped. Jorge had a wide smile on his face as he cpped while staring at Melora as he envisioned the possibility of new power and wealth. Whoever won at the end of this war, he would be the one to profit. If he sensed that the empire was winning, he would align himself with them in exchange for power and a sizeable portion of Credoa. Conversely, if Credoa won, he would be gifted with a new title for his support, which in turn would give him more power and more nd. It was then he sensed the sharp gaze from Adeline, which made his heart skip a beat.

“Let me be the first to greet your Highness, Melora Stormville. Truly a historic moment. I wish it was just in a much better pce. Perhaps it could be salvaged by an informal party at my vil.”

“I don’t think that will be possible. I will leave for Arbegon with some of my generals to discuss strategies we should take against the empire.”

“That’s regrettable. We will take good care of the kingdom while you are away.” The nobles behind Jorge, still full of cheer, nodded at Jorge’s words.

“You are too greedy,” Adeline spoke in a low voice as the nobles turned towards her.

“With all due respect, serving your Queen and her people is not greedy,” Jorge refuted as the generals sensed things were about to take a turn for the worse. Alfred and Scales slithered towards the camp and coiled around Adeline and Melora’s feet.

“That’s not what your actions are implying. You smell like a rat, and your intentions are nothing more than personal greed,” Adeline spat as Melora shook her head.

“I do not take these accusations lightly. I am a Credoan noble, and I have dedicated my life to Credoa.”

“Then you have no problem dying with your people.” Adeline’s words pierced through the air as the nobles were left stunned.

“My duties are better suited to running the territory rather than fighting.”

“I take everything back.” Adeline closed her eyes as the nobles started to nod and murmur among themselves.

“You are lower than the shit that comes out of your horses. You leeches crawl out of your holes after the battle, rubbing your rat hands and expecting some reward. You even dared to say that you would run Credoa while she is away, you pathetic, spineless pieces of shit.” Adeline’s anger was on full dispy as she looked around for her sword. She decided to grab Melora’s sword, then unsheathed it as the silver bde caught her eye. To the surprise of the generals, nothing happened to Adeline as she turned towards the nobles. The generals moved their hands to the hilt of their weapons and eyed Adeline.

“Adeline, it is okay.” Melora reached out and held Adeline’s hand. She instantly felt her emotions as Adeline calmed down and returned to her seat. Melora turned her attention towards the nobles, who were terrified.

“Marquis Jorge, I appreciate your enthusiasm, but no matter where I am, I will always lead Credoa, and the person responsible for its safety will be my generals,” Melora spoke as the nobles reluctantly agreed.

“You are lucky Melora is a benevolent ruler, but if you slip up, I will personally cut your heads off,” Adeline growled one st time as she sheathed the sword and returned it. The generals let out a sigh of relief as they stared at the nobles, who were shaking in fear. The sun was particurly bright on this day, so Adeline decided to unfold her rge bck wings and shelter Melora, who lovingly smiled at her as she blushed. It was then Jorge understood the nature of their retionship as a new thought arose.

  “Now that you are Qu…”

“Do not utter another word if you value your life,” Arthur cut off Jorge, who looked at him. How dare a mere general interrupt and threaten a Marquis? Even if he was close to the Queen, that did not give him the right to act in such an undignified manner.

“How dare you? Don’t you know of my status? Soldiers should remain quiet while nobles discuss things of great importance,” Jorge shed out.

“Marquis Jorge, watch your mouth,” Melora intervened as the purple fmes fred wildly. Jorge could not believe his eyes; he cursed silently while staring at Melora. He was met with Adeline’s sharp gaze filled with killing intent. He decided to accept this embarrassment, got up, and left with the group of nobles.

“You should keep an eye on them; nothing good comes from people of his kind,” Adeline spoke as some of the generals nodded.

“This is an absolute disaster,” Of let out a sigh.

“I propose we kill them all; those rats are bound to backstab us,” Adeline continued, but Melora, who was next to her, remained silent.

“Then let us be ready for their imminent betrayal,” Melora spoke in a cold voice. Adeline touched her and felt a familiar cold and distant emotion. While Adeline favored a direct route, she did not mind other ways as long as the outcome was the same. They reassured each other as they exchanged emotions. The cold, distant emotion slowly turned warm as the two now smiled at each other. Adeline leaned over and whispered.

“I find it hot when you boss people around.” Melora’s smile got wider as the generals simply stared at the couple.

“I miss Stefan; when will he come back?” Valerie let out a sigh.
