Chapter Eleven: A Fat Woman is Forever a Fat Woman
Chu Jingyan looked at Chen Shuo standing not far away, his voice was not loud, but every word was clear and distinct, Chu Jingyan heard it clearly, but still couldn't believe it.
That development zone was something Chu Jingyan had heard of, and even if he had only heard of it, he knew that it was a massive project involving vast buildings and huge funds. It was a big deal, at least for Chu Jingyan, and the numbers involved in the project were unimaginable to him before.
"Want to ask why it's you?" Chen Shuo saw through Chu Jingyan's thoughts and smiled: "To say that I've gone through deep thought, it's really not true. Thinking carefully, you're indeed too young, and your experiences are far less than mine. However, people will eventually grow up. Putting aside other things, I quite like your temperament."
Chu Jingyun didn't quite understand what Chen Shuo meant by his words.
"You now look exactly the same as when I first met you." Chen Shuo gazed at Chu Jingyan, his cigarette burning more fiercely in the sea breeze. "Incomprehensible, thrilled, excited, yet there's no meaningless fear and unease."
"This is why I chose you."
Chu Jing shook his head and said, "I've been thinking, why did it have to be me? At the poker table, I thought you were just being polite to save my face. When I came here, I was expecting a bigger opportunity, but I never expected it to be this big. That project is on the news every day now, and with so many people in the company, how did it end up falling on me?"
"The company is mine, even if there are many shareholders now and people with more power than me are involved, but in the end, the company is mine, that's what I say goes."
"As a company grows bigger, the composition of its employees becomes more complex, making leadership particularly difficult. Even in small matters, there are hidden agendas and deceit, let alone in a large enterprise. I detest hypocrisy and duplicity, but such situations are becoming increasingly frequent and widespread, making me very uncomfortable."
"There are too many people who eventually forget whether I am still growing or someone else."
Chen Shuo looked at Chu Jingyan, his eyes with a hint of profundity, and said: "What I like most about you is that you never feel intimidated or belittle yourself. Ability represents everything. You can control your emotions and abilities well, which means you can do this thing and get started quickly."
"This is your most important chance to prove yourself, if you do well, there will naturally be even greater opportunities waiting for you, as long as you have the guts to ask, I dare to give."
"Don't let me down."
Chu Jingyan remained silent, but it was rumored that the group had gone through a crisis a year ago, which was smoothly overcome under Chen Shuo's leadership. However, this also led to more foreign capital and voices different from Chen Shuo's emerging within the group. As an enterprise grows bigger, its original leaders must give up more power.
But Chen Shuo is clearly not that kind of person, he will gradually strengthen his own strength, but absolutely won't let voices different from his own rob him of his rights.
Obviously, this appointment of Chu Jingyan and Chen Shuo has withstood a lot of pressure and criticism.
So Chen Shuo said to Chu Jing, don't let yourself down.
Chu Jingyan felt pressure for the first time.
Chen Shuo threw away his cigarette and patted Chu Jingyan's shoulder, saying: "Let's go back to the house and sit down. It's really cold here."
Back in the warm room, Chen Shuo picked up a cup of hot water and took a sip. He said to Chen Shuo: "You guys arrived at a good time. More than ten years ago when I first came here, Seoul was still called Hancheng. The name has changed, but the people in this city are still ignorant and foolish. There have been many humiliations and obstacles, but fortunately, we've all made it through. So, I hope to keep winning."
This is Seoul, a place where outsiders are discriminated against. Chen Shuo was also an outsider, so Chu Jingyan admired him exceptionally.
Chen Shuo stepped on the expensive carpet and said, "The people downstairs are either rich or noble. Most of the people on this ship are like that. They have seen the outside world and know how small they are, so they show respect to me because there is a greater power behind me. Jingyan, I'm telling you, you've come at a good time."
"In the past five years, you've tasted all the bitterness and sweetness in Yaoshen Palace. I think that even before that, when you were drifting at sea, wandering on American streets, you were always savoring these most painful yet precious things."
"Difficulties are not good things, but it's precisely these bad things in the world that can make people grow and become stronger quickly."
"No need to get entangled in the struggles of the streets, no need to think about the monthly profits of a nightclub. I'll give you a stage, where you can tell everyone your name."
Chen Shuo put down his cup and said in a low voice: "I want to tell those who have ulterior motives that Dongfang International has always been mine, Chen Shuo's."
Chen Shuo came from China, bringing a group of people to Seoul, starting from scratch. These four words lightly describe the endless hardships and his ruthlessness. The decade-long time was too long and too short, the rise of Dongfang International was too unbelievable, so someone started to have doubts.
Chen Shuo is not a good person. Although he insists on donating to charity every year, it's impossible for a good person to support a family business in a foreign land to the point where it is today.
Someone wants Chen Shuo's position, and it can't be given naturally.
He wasn't very good at taking action, so he naturally left it to the people under his hands. That person had to be gentle and not arouse suspicion, that person had to be young and meticulous in thought. And so, Chu Jingyan is now sitting here.
"Starting tomorrow, I'll have someone come find you, and you can start following up on the progress over there."
Chu Jing nodded slightly.
The serious atmosphere gradually dissipated, and Chen Shuo smiled and said to Chu Jingyan: "Alright, what needs to be said has been said. Do you want to go find Miss Gao?"
"No need, I have a friend waiting for me to go see her." Chu Jingyan shook his head and said, "It's been a long time since we last met, she just happens to be off today, so I thought I'd go take a look."
"A girlfriend?" Chen Shuo was somewhat surprised and laughed, "So you still have a girlfriend."
Chu Jing said with a bitter smile: "Really isn't."
Chen Shuo smiled and said: "I originally wanted to keep you, I had prepared some good things, it seems that you won't be able to enjoy them tonight."
Saying goodbye to Chen Shuo, Chu Jingyan went downstairs and scanned the hall but didn't see Gao Yala. After checking the time, she didn't stay any longer, took a speedboat to the shore, and drove away.
Chu Jing said that naturally there aren't many friends, but the one about to meet is an exception.
At first, when Chu Jingyan left the couple to escape some sanctions, he had been to many places and stayed for a long time, so he would naturally meet many people. The only one that left a deep impression on him was a fat man, a black and fat female fatty.
At that time, Chu Jingyan was very hungry. In the middle of the day, he saw a stout girl walking on the main road eating donuts from a bucket. So Chu Jingyan followed her and finally snatched the bucket of donuts when no one was looking.
The fat girl naturally cried and made a scene, Chu Jingyan ate while watching her cry, when he finished eating, the fat girl also stopped crying.
Chu Jingyan was really hungry, so hungry that after gobbling down his food, he snatched the drink from the girl's hand and finished it in one gulp. At that time, he didn't care about anything because he was really starving.
Hunger is humanity's greatest enemy.
The fat girl gradually stopped crying and looked at Chu Jingyan eating and drinking like a stray dog, the fear in her eyes also slowly faded away.
Chu Jing thought at the time that the fat girl would scold him, or pick up a stone from the ground to hit him. But unexpectedly, the ugly-looking fat girl asked with a sob: "Are you still hungry?"
Chu Jing said that the ghost sent by the gods did not leave immediately, but nodded instead.
The girl wiped away her tears and said: "I'm also hungry, you wouldn't have snatched my things if you weren't hungry, how about I treat you to a hot dog?"
Chu Jingyan said: "Actually I want to eat a hamburger."
"Go."
Chu Jingyan's few warm memories, that fat girl is one of them.
Chu Jingyan lingered in that area for a long time, because he had the fat girl as his long-term meal ticket. She would invite him to eat and even bought Chu Jingyan a set of clean clothes.
Chu Jing felt a surge of gratitude in her heart, but didn't know how to repay it.
It's too unrealistic to take oneself as a gift, because Chu Jingyan looks down on that fat woman.
Then he returned to the area where that couple lived, but it was already empty. Chu Jingyan arrived in Seoul, and that fat girl gradually faded away from his memory.
After a long time, Chu Jingyan gradually settled down in the Snake Palace. One night, on a day when she was resting, she ran into a girl while strolling around the streets, just like before.
Short hair, smiling eyes, beautiful legs.
Chu Jingyan brushed past her, and then the girl stood still in her tracks, before loudly calling out Chu Jingyan's name.
Chu Jing turned around and looked at the girl, his eyes filled with puzzlement, while the girl only had joy.
She changed her name and appearance, so that Chu Jingyan still can't believe that this beautiful girl, no matter how you look at it, is actually the same as the fat woman who ate sweet rings on the street back then.
But after all, it's an old friend, and when old friends meet, they can't help but feel a surge of emotions.
So they had contact again, if seeing each other once every half year can be considered as having contact.
Chu Jingyuan drove into the city and saw her in front of an apartment building.
"Did you change cars?" A girl wearing a white cotton jacket looked at Chu Jingyan in surprise and said, "Where did such a good car come from?"
"It's stolen." Chu Jingyan opened the car door.
The girl rolled her eyes: "Chu Jingyan, can you speak to me seriously for once."
Chu Jingyan glanced at the girl, started the car and said: "Huang Meiying, you should know that until today I still don't believe you are the Huang Meiying I knew. Otherwise, one day I'll take you to the hospital for a check-up to see if this face and leg have been operated on or not."
The girl blushed with anger: "Shut up."
"I've said it ten thousand times, I didn't just become like this overnight, do you know how much effort I put in to look like this now? Do you know the pain of only being able to eat vegetables every day? Do you know how hard it is for people to do those yoga moves?"
"I didn't know any of these things." Chu Jingyan listened quietly to the girl's words, then very seriously said to her: "Then do you know one thing?"
"What's wrong?"
Chu Jingyu looked at the girl with a very serious expression and said: "Once a fat woman, always a fat woman."
"Go die!"
