Chapter Thirteen The Crux of the Problem
Chu Jingyan seems to understand why Li Qi and his friends are so enthusiastic about inviting women to dinner, and they even pay out of their own pockets with relish. The phrase "beauty is a feast for the eyes" isn't that exaggerated after all. Chu Jingyan has to admit that this meal was quite enjoyable.
Compared to the meal with Heo Yoon-ji, having a meal with familiar people like Soo-young felt much better for Cho Jeong-sang. While quietly eating his food, he listened to Soo-young and Kim Tae-hyun's playful conversation, occasionally looking up to meet Kim Tae-hyun's eyes before she quickly looked down or shifted her gaze away.
Chu Jingyan can be said to be used to it, and he himself doesn't seem to make women feel a sense of closeness.
This feeling of closeness is indeed a good thing.
Kim Tae-yeon, who can make the little fatty feel safe and trustworthy, Chu Jingyan holds a thread of curiosity. The little fatty's some sad things Chu Jingyan clearly knows, leaving her father's family care alone to drift across the ocean to Seoul. Although it is said that it is a nostalgic feeling for one's hometown, but for her who has been living on the west coast of the United States since childhood, she holds fear and vigilance towards everything here.
This is similar to what Chu Jingyan did, but she did it more thoroughly.
Xiao Feipo once said to Chu Jingyan: "I think that in order to be successful here, one must first integrate into this place, and then can succeed."
Chu Jingyan didn't know where this sentence came from, whether it was from a great man's memoir or book, but she felt that it was correct, at least for Xiaofeipo who aspired to become an idol star.
Xiao Feipo stuffed a piece of roasted meat into her mouth and turned her head to ask Chu Jingyan, "What are you doing now?"
Chu Jingyu thought for a moment and said, "Unemployed vagrants."
Xiao Feipo obviously found Chu Jingyan's perfunctory response to be nothing out of the ordinary, so she just rolled her eyes and didn't say anything else. Sometimes Chu Jingyan was like a child who needed to be coaxed, Xiao Feipo didn't know why, but she had to accommodate him.
Just like many years ago when she was robbed of her donut and still treated him to a hamburger, although it seemed unreasonable, she really did so.
"Hey, you once told me that in ancient times when a warrior went to battle, his family and friends would all go out of the city to see him off and offer encouragement. Although our situation isn't as dramatic, but it will definitely be very tough for us later on. Don't you have anything to say to us?"
Xiao Fei Po's question stunned Chu Jing Yan. He, who usually spoke to people with sarcasm and ridicule, couldn't think of any encouraging words.
After holding it in for a long time, Chu Jingyan finally squeezed out two words: "Add oil."
"Is that all?" asked Little Fatty.
"I'll buy your album," Chu Jingyan said, "This is the greatest encouragement I can think of."
Kim Tae-yeon burst out laughing.
"When a person is most confused, it's because they don't know what they really want. Since you all know and have already started taking action, teamwork is the best thing that can happen, as you can help each other out. However, if you can't coordinate well, good things might turn into bad ones."
Chu Jingyan's words were slow and logical, but Kim Tae-yeon listened with extra seriousness.
"For you, it's not about management, but coordination; not about authority, but winning people over."
Only Tiffany can understand, Kim Tae-yeon knows the meaning of Cho Kyung-yoon's words. Now, Tiffany still has a bit of an awkward feeling with Korean and is somewhat out of it, as a friend, Cho Kyung-yoon wants her to have a better life in the team later on, so these words need to be said to Kim Tae-yeon who is the leader.
Kim Tae-yeon put down her chopsticks and asked, "How did you do it?"
"First and foremost, one must have confidence." Chu Jingyan said, "In all things, what is most important is having the heart that can accomplish them."
Kim Tae-yeon shook her head and said: "I'm really not confident about this, to be honest, I don't think I stand out in the team."
"Secondly, don't belittle yourself."
Chu Jingyan looked at Kim Tae-yeon and thought to herself, "This girl is so rebellious," while saying, "I know your company has a certain level of strength, so naturally there's a professional team operating it. They have vision, experience, and have lived several decades more than you. If you don't believe in yourself, then go believe in them."
"How can I believe?"
Chu Jingyu thought for a moment and said, "It depends on how much you trust your teacher and superior."
"Obviously I can't help you solve this problem, because my situation is different from yours. All I need to do is ensure that the people under me listen and complete the tasks I assign to them to my satisfaction, which is enough."
"Then they wouldn't be afraid of you?"
"So it's just like Tiffany said, I don't have many friends."
"I won't be able to." Taeyeon Kim shook her head.
"My problem is that I don't know how to lower my head to others, your problem is that you always lower your head to others. How to solve this problem is actually your problem."
"Your words have been of great help to me," said Kim Tae-yeon.
Chu Jing shook his head and said, "Nonsense."
Xiao Feipo looked up at Chu Jingyan and Kim Taeyeon with a dazed expression, the two people's conversation was quick and awkward, making her listen without understanding anything, shaking her head helplessly, continuing to lower her head to eat.
Paying the bill naturally can't let women pay for it.
Kim Tae-yeon looked at Chen Shuo finishing the bill and scratched her hair, somewhat embarrassed, saying: "I said I'd treat."
Chu Jing said as she put her purse back in her pocket, "Sometimes not letting a man pay the bill is more painful than killing him."
The little fatty asked in confusion: "For example?"
"For example, you eat three people's worth of meat by yourself."
The little fatty said with a hint of competitiveness: "You eat more than me."
"So I'll pay the bill."
Kim Tae-yeon had some difficulty blending in with the conversation between Chu Jingyan and Xiao Feipo, as this kind of dialogue that transcended her own life was somewhat hard for her to understand.
"No matter what, I'd like to treat you to this meal," said Kim Tae-yeon.
Chu Jing said with a smile: "I'll get you back when I have the chance."
In less than half a month, Chu Jingyan had encountered more women than in the past five years combined. Not counting those from Yaoshen Palace or other places, Chu Jingyan felt as if he had entered a place he had never explored before, where people were relatively innocent and untainted.
It's not that Tiffany or Taeyeon are as pure as white paper, but perhaps in their hearts they have a very genuine longing for this world. Just like how they now yearn for the life and success after debut, Cho Kyung-yeon doesn't know what it feels like to stand on stage, although she's not really interested, but for these two girls in front of her, it's a goal to strive for.
There is a clear goal of struggle, and it's not being mediocre, which is rare and precious for someone at their age.
Compared to Chu Jingyan's dirty mind, their maturity lies in knowing what they want better than their peers. The cutthroat competition is a bit too difficult for them, so they can only try hard to stand out, which is why they became the reserve members of that emerging group.
As they left the barbecue shop and got into Chuying's car, Tiffany said to Kim Tae-yeon: "If an unemployed person can own a car like this, then I also want to be an unemployed person."
Chu Jingyun turned her head and said: "In less than half a year, you will become a big fat woman again."
"Tiffany said fiercely: 'You'll never have a girlfriend in your whole life.'"
Chu Jingyun started the car: "Our Tiffany has really grown up, she can even curse people. Don't you know that cursing people will send them to hell according to the Bible?"
"Really?"
"Of course it's fake, idiot, I don't even know what the Bible looks like."
After sending Kim Tae-yeon and Tiffany to the entrance of their dormitory, Chu Jingyan drove away. As she watched the car drive out of the alley, Kim Tae-yeon turned her head and said: "This friend of yours is a bit different."
"Tiffany asked: 'What's different now?'"
"It feels like I've been through a lot."
"Tiffany said: 'He has indeed gone through a lot, but he doesn't tell anyone.'"
Taeyeon patted Tiffany's shoulder and smiled: "Alright, let's head back to the dorm."
Chu Jingwen had always been curious, a skyscraper from the beginning of its construction to being fully occupied by office workers and becoming a completely regular enterprise, how long it would take, Chen Shuo told him, twenty years.
Standing in front of the Oriental International Building, Chu Jingyan looked up at the huge LOGO on the building and then walked in.
Chen Shuo will be in Japan for some time to discuss some matters, and the company's affairs have been handed over to the vice chairman.
Sitting in front of Bai Jiming, Chu Jingyan held a thick stack of documents and carefully examined them. The dry data and obscure professional terms made Chu Jingyan's head ache.
"Don't you feel a bit overwhelmed?" Bai Jiming picked up the coffee on the table, gently stirring it with a spoon, and smiled, "Take your time to get used to it, I'll arrange for professionals to assist you by your side. To be honest, I don't quite understand this stuff myself."
Chu Jing said, putting down the materials and looking up at Bai Jiming: "It's a bit difficult, but it can be overcome."
"Of course, we must overcome it." Bai Jiming said, "And the sooner the better. I hope that by the time the president returns from Japan, you will have mastered these businesses."
Chu Jing nodded: "Good."
"There's no need to be so tense." Bai Jiming stood up and walked to the window, looking at the tiny people and vehicles below, saying: "Jingyan, have you ever felt that this world is changing?"
Chu Jingyan didn't say anything and quietly listened.
"Over a decade ago, this was a wasteland. Over a decade later, it became a thriving hub. In fact, there are changes every day, but for us, there is one thing that remains most important."
Person
"The most important thing is people's change."
"I bet that within the next five years, China will become Korea's largest trading partner for imports and exports. Not just Korea, but all of Asia as well. There are many things we need to do in the future, and we'll make even more money. The stage will get bigger and bigger, and if you want it, that stage can be yours."
Bai Jiming turned his head and looked at Chu Jingyan with a smile, asking: "Compared to what I told you, can this project in your hands still give you a sense of pressure?"
Chu Jingyan said: "What you're talking about is too far away from me."
"As long as you stand here, those are very close to you."
Bai Jiming looked at Chu Jingyan and said, "I won't say this to others, but Jingyan, for you, I want to say that if there's a problem, come find me immediately. What you think is a problem must be a big one. This project can't afford any mistakes, and neither can you."
