The next morning, Akari woke up before the sun could even rise. She felt extremely energized, a direct contrast to how sluggish she felt the day before. Going further back, she realized she was even more energized than she was in her past life. She hopped out the bed and got dressed, taking whatever outfit she liked without putting much thought into it.
She was wearing an all-bck outfit, a bck shirt and bck shorts. After leaving the room, she strolled around the hallways, not knowing where she was going. She didn’t really want to be confined to one pce, it reminded her too much of her past life. Hence, she walked. She walked with no destination, admiring the craftsmanship of the hallways.
‘We have to be very prestigious.. I wonder what my st name is.’
She stopped by a window and looked out, catching sight of two men fighting each other. This wasn’t a brawl though, they were using swords. Akari’s eyes lit up at this realization as she excitedly said to herself,
“They’re using swords! Real swords! I wonder if there’s magic as well.”
She continues walking around, moving a bit faster than before. She was happy and excited, a big smile pstered onto her face. After a bit more walking, she finds a door with a book symbol on it.
‘Library?’
She walked in, the door not making a single creak. She was right, it was a library. The amount of books inside was amazing. She remembers visiting libraries in her past but none could compare to the one she was seeing right now.
Marveling at the books for a moment, Akari finally grabbed one and read the cover.
‘I can read this… How? This isn’t any nguage from Earth.’
The more she thought about it, the more she felt a headache coming in. She brushed it aside and looked around the library, grabbing a few books about the history of the world and a map.
She decided to read the history of the world first. Surprisingly, this world was still called Earth, but that was the only simirity she found. The world was created by an almighty, all-powerful god. He looked like a human, or humans looked like him. His eyes were said to hold the Universe and his mouth spoke words into reality. His hair was the deepest bck, long and messy.
His name was Syzael, the one to create everything, from the atoms that exist everywhere to the stars that light up the sky. Since he had everything, he got bored quite easily. This led him to create life. Humans, Demi-Humans, Devils, Angels, other gods, every single living organism in the universe was created by him on a whim.
Even after doing this, he was still bored, hence, he decided to give his creations the ability to use magic, the ability to change the world. Using a single drop of his blood, the earth was filled with mana. Every organism on earth from that point on had its own mana reserves. The amount of mana they could use was random, yet never zero.
With this, he was finally entertained. Whether it was wars or simply countries developing themselves faster than they were supposed to, it was all fun to him. However, this didn’t st for long.
Syzael suddenly disappeared from Earth, never to be seen again.
Akari closed the book as she thought,
‘What kind of god abandons his creations?’
Sighing, she went ahead and looked at the map. Unlike what she thought, the map was just a map of the continent she was on. However, this continent was enormous. This alone had to have been bigger than her previous world.
The continent was named after Syzael, as it’s believed that this is where he first created life.
[Syzania]
On this continent, there were 7 major nations.
[ Algoa, the nation of war and fmes, has a marker, signifying that she may be there right now. This city had the most nd of all other cities and its army predominantly used fire-based abilities. Surviving a long history of many wars earned it its nickname of the nation of war and fmes.]
[The Agua Kingdom, A nation of water and trade. It is in the center of the world, where all waterways connect. Being almost completely surrounded by water, this major port was given the honor of being known as the greatest trading port in the world.]
[ Sylvanna, the nation of progress. This city was abnormally advanced compared to lots of other pces. To even enter, one has to have either enough merit or money to get in.]
[Trigolia, The city with no king nor ws. This wless city has been standing since before Syzael’s departure from this world. It’s said that Syzael was once its ruler, however, this rumor was never proven to be true.]
[Antiscarlia, the nation of monsters and the city with no sun. It’s said that the demon king resides there, casting an eversting night with their near-omnipotent magic. Not many humans reside there, though, it’s a friendly nation, not having much of a history with wars.]
[Lastly, a lost city, one that has no pce on the map but its name is on the key, Nevaeh. Not much was written about Nevaeh, though, this pce is said to be impossible to find. If one were to find this lost city, they’d gain otherworldly treasure. This myth became so big that it became a major nation in Syzania.]
Akari puts the book and map away after memorizing it. She didn't memorize every bit of the map, but instead where the cities are from each other. She realized that someone had pced a meal near her.
‘How thoughtful.’
She thought to herself as she ate a bit of it. After eating, she looked around a bit more and found a book that intrigued her even more than everything she’d seen since coming to this world. A book about mana control.
She quickly begins reading it, learning about the history of mana before she got to the actual training portion.
[Everything has mana, even inanimate objects. The amount inside, the capacity, varies though. When Syzael gave the world mana, he didn’t give everything an equal amount. That would be boring. Some things or people had astronomical amounts of mana while others barely had any.]
[These items with astronomical amounts of mana became artifacts, items or tools with so much mana that a spirit, another lifeform created by Syzael, started dwelling inside. These tools came with otherworldly abilities at a cost depending on how strong they were.]
[Living organisms could control how much mana their offspring would get to a certain extent. After extensive research, it was learned that the equation for offsprings mana capacity was as follows;]
[Parent 1 plus Parent 2 times/divided by Potential]
[This didn’t mean each generation was stronger than the st. Potential, the uncontrolble factor in this equation, could be any real number. It could even be negative. In that case, the multiplication symbol would become a division symbol. One could not have zero or negative amounts of mana.]
[Mana was around at all times. The blood that Syzael shedded became an infinite source of mana, constantly pouring out from the earth's core and seeping into the atmosphere. However, if you haven’t unlocked your mana flow, the ability to let the mana locked in your heart flow through your body’s veins and muscles, you won't be able to sense it at all.]
[To unlock your mana flow, the simplest way is to simply meditate. Meditating will allow your body to intake mana from the atmosphere. This will cause the mana locked away in your heart to spring into action. Once you’ve unlocked your flow, boundless paths are opened to you, depending on your potential and drive.]
After reading, the sun was up. Akari had spent her entire morning reading, not that she cared. She put the book back and rushed back to her room, running past many maids. Once in her room, she plopped down on her bed and immediately started meditating.
‘I have nothing better to do anyways. No phone, technology, or anything else. Might as well get some magic!’
She excitedly thought to herself.
This excitement didn’t st long though. She sat there for hours and felt absolutely no change. Giving up for now, she took a bath and ate dinner, going straight to sleep.
Akari woke up much ter the next day, the sunlight beaming through her window onto her face. She ate breakfast and sat back on her bed, wondering what her next move would be. Before she could decide, she heard a knock on the door.
“Come in,” Akari said without much thought.
A man with dark purple hair walked in, his eyes being a darker purple than his hair. He had to be at least 6 feet tall and had a muscur frame. His suit hid every inch of skin and yet she could tell he was strong, yet she wasn’t intimidated at all. She actually found his presence comforting.
‘We have to be reted..’
“How are you feeling?”
He asked as he walked further into the room.
“I’m fine, but mind telling me who you are?
“So it’s true…”
He said as he picked up Akari and put her on his shoulder. The sudden movement strangely didn’t scare her either. She felt used to it. She didn’t understand why she felt used to it but she didn't try to fight back because of this.
“I’m your father. Try not to forget it again.”
At these words, it all clicked. No wonder she felt so calm with him. No wonder she looked so simir to him. Akari was a bit embarrassed that she didn't guess that right away.
“...Oh~, I see!”
Akari hesitantly said. She didn’t know how to interact with him as this was technically her first time meeting him. At her awkward response, he ughed. His ugh wasn’t necessarily loud, yet his voice was so deep that it carried around the entire room and a bit outside of it.
Akari unconsciously smiled at this ugh.
“I bet you forgot that your birthday’s in 2 days as well, didn’t you?”
The man said teasingly
“Really?”
“Yes, we were going to have a grand party if you recovered earlier, but sadly, you’ve only just recovered from that nasty disease.”
“That’s ok, I’d rather not interact with others anyways.”
Akari was rather introverted. This was the same in her previous life. However, the longer she stayed in Akari’s body, the more foggy her past life’s memories became. Yet there were things she could remember with perfect crity, such as her being an introvert.
“I see! However, as the duke's daughter, you mustn’t stay quarantined forever. You must show the kingdom that you’ve miraculously recovered!”
‘I’m the duke's daughter?! That’s a crazy high rank right?’
“I understand… but what’s my full name?”
“You’ve truly forgotten everything about yourself hm? Well, it’s fine, it seems you remembered how to read and speak. You are my daughter, Akari Ignius” Duke Ignius said with pride.
Akari nodded as she said,
“Got it.”
The duke put Akari down as he said,
“Well, I have some work to be done. I’ll leave you to your own accord for a while.”
Akari nodded and smiled, causing the duke to smile as well. With that, The duke left the room, leaving Akari to think even more about her situation.
As she thought, she began meditating again, hoping for some sort of feeling to spark inside of her. Once again, she felt nothing the entire day. She wasted another entire day, sitting on her bed with her eyes closed.
Though some may see it that way, Akari didn’t necessarily feel bad about it. She liked how she could waste her days away again. The freedom she has now is much better than her past lives. She took a shower and ate dinner, going to sleep shortly after, loving her new life.
