CHAPTER 1: PAIN

My soul awakehe fme which was inside felt a cold grip tighten.

  Then—PAIN

My physical being thrashed. I shook frantically. I tried to reach out for something but. nothing.

  Yet everything.

Every ounce of pain. Each time my flesh pulsed, each time my blood rushed, each time a muscle tore.

Yet—the earth of which ate my fingers— Cold, Damp, Wet. That's what I should have felt.

But I didn't feel those sensations. Only a pulsiure inside my own flesh. My eye—rapidly shook inside my own body. Out of its socket.

I reached for my face trying to clear off the slimy substahat covered it but—my fingers only sank deep into my flesh.

  I screamed out.

Though it was not sound that came out, not my voice.

But the ks of my own flesh.

  What—

I tried to make sense of it all

but—Something—something suddenly crawled inside my flesh. It dug into the yers of my skin, like bdes massag my meat. F itself deep.

Long, slimy, slithering, root like body rushed through my veins, gripping my bones. Growing in my own blood.

Then piey own skin shred. Peeling off my skull. Like soft cloth c an apple.

Releasing vicious substa of the holes that were created by it.

  Then—POP

The eye which swam my flesh, popped out of its socket. It swung bad forth, being held by a single nerve.

Then nded on my hand. Desperately I stick it ba my skull. I shove it in where I think the sockets should be pced.

  The flesh crawled.

Stitg itself, biting it in pce.

Then I saw iween my fingers. The world was of a blurry image.

As my sight was hinted with bck hue.

  Without a sed—CRACK

A limb falls off my shoulder. The flesh on it, rotten and decayed. Hung the bone.

I grabbed it before it could fall. Pushed it against my ribs.

Then it rushed. My flesh, from my o the limb. It reattached itself.

My eye twitched, flexing the new muscle that held it together. As I saw the world in holes of my skin.

  A glimpse... Glimpse I saw.

A vast empty grey desert. The sky polluted of bck. The air, humid, blurry. It could have just been me.

But I started seeing things—Bodies—piles of them-not humans.

  But... Something else.

Limbs... Eyes.... Body... Skin... Smeared together. Like a glop of slime.

Then in a distance... An animal? No—a creature. A silhouette.

Pitch bck like ink. It drifted. rge. It looked like it had long legs. Though because of the distance I couldn't get a clear picture of it.

But—My eyes shook as I stared at it. My throat though dry.

  Felt a lump on it.

  It turhe thing.

  The eyes... Locked on me...

  It sees me.

  Slowly....

  It approached.

My mind screamed for me to run, to hide, to do anything. But it only froze irembling. Like a mb who's seen by the wolf.

Then I felt something—A voice. Like a and that was carved into my bones.

Not through my ears but my flesh.

The vibrations. Like a whisper in the wind. Cold, calm, yet anding.

  "Rise, Resurrected"

Suddenly—my body stood, it trembled and shook. Barely standing on its ow.

Something else in trol. Holding my bones, grabbing my veins, gripping my flesh.

This is not my body. This is not my body. This is not-

My hands. Skeletal, frayed, weak, clutched the sand.

Sand? No—mud. The cold, the damp. It was mud that I felt. I know it is. I am sure of it.

My vision bleak, fadi vivid. Eyelids heavy. As if they were pounds of iron. Then something creek through the cray flesh—Light.

My body shook and trembled, as if the thing keepiact, tore from the boook a mind of it's own.

"It seems the seed has settled" the light spoke. Or I felt it speak.

"Resurrected, you are chosen. Save this kingdom from its king. Save the people from its curse"

"I have left you gifts from Ashal. They will help you on your journey. Find the kingdom of Flourish"

"Fail or disobey, and I shall strip you from your own being. The seed holds you. You are now it's vessel. And I am the keeper"

  Then— dissapered.

Resurrected. It called me. Is that who I am? No—I have a name.

  But...

What was it? What is my name? Who am I... what am I?
