Chapter 104 The Parasite
The prospect of gaining additional power made Dahdin inclined to accept, but he felt reluctant because the Ancestor had not expined what kind of power he would provide or what the task entailed. Dahdin felt suspicious, as the Ancestor had been very cryptic about the details.
However, Dahdin sensed that the Ancestor might be unable to reveal the power due to some possible limitations on him. Deciding to change the subject and eager to learn about the task, he asked, "What is the task? I want some details before I consider accepting."
The Ancestor responded positively. "I suppose you remember the bck mist you had been running from?" Dahdin gave a slight nod. "You were right to fear it and made the right choice to run away from it," he pinly stated. "The mist is a type of parasite that comes from in-between the yers of dimension; they feed on the minds of weak-willed creatures and take over their bodies, making them their own. Integrating into small societies like packs or groups of beasts. And if they're lucky, they might be able to take over one of the intelligent races and take over a small vilge." The Ancestor paused, letting the words sink in. "Your task will be to battle the parasite that has invaded your mind."
The words registered with Dahdin, but given his description of the parasites, he wondered how they had not already taken over the world. Seeking further crification, he asked, "How have these creatures not already invaded the world and established dominance over it?"
The Ancestor sighed and briefly expined: "In the past, small events occurred between yers, which allowed parasites to intrude into this pne. However, the intelligent races in this realm took notice of the unusually rampant growth in the monster popution and took care of them before they could infect more monsters.
Dahdin now understood why the parasites were not already the dominant species on the pnet and his small connection to it. Based on what he was told, he concluded that the parasite was attempting to take control of his body.
He expressed his thoughts: "From your expnation, it seems that there is a parasite within me. Once I defeat it, I will be granted the power to close the distortions since you cannot be on this pne. In other words, are you saying that the power you offer me will enable me to create and close the distortions caused by my companions?"
The Ancestor nodded as if complimenting a child on completing a riddle and said, "Exactly. And not only that, but I will reward you with what your cn has desired.
