Chapter 1.5 – Eyes That Pierce Reality

  I stared at her in shobsp;

  As we returo the alley where the crime had taken pce, Azami Yuki—the female version of myself—stood in front of the corpse with her arms crossed, as if deep in thought. But before I could say anything, something strange happened.

  Her eyes, which had been a normal brown, now turned into glowing gold.

  I blirying to make sure I wasn’t seeing things. But the golden light was real—shining within her pupils, swirling like tiny vortexes of light that seemed to be ing something.

  The air around us suddenly felt colder.

  A gentle breeze blew, even though the alley was shielded from the outside wind. I could feel something—not just a ge imosphere, but an invisible pressure flowing around Azami.

  Then, in an instant, she raised her hand and cwed at the air in front of her.

  And as if reality itself tore apart.

  SHRRRKKK—

  I saw something like a cra the air, and then faint shadows began to appear around us. Not ordinary shadows, but like traces of events that had happened here before.

  I saw the victim, a few ho—still alive. She walked into the alley with an anxious expression. Then, someone emerged from the shadows, their figure still blurry. They spoke. I couldn’t hear what was being said, but their body nguage was clear enough.

  Until suddenly, the victim was strangled by something invisible.

  I watched her struggle, thrashing, g at the air as if something was tightening around her neck. But there was no ohere.

  Then, she colpsed.

  And the shadows disappeared into the darkness.

  SHRRRKKK!

  The cra reality sealed itself, as if nothing had happehe traces of shadows vanished in an instant. The cold air slowly dissipated.

  I stared at Azami in disbelief. "What… did you just do?"

  She took a deep breath, then looked at me with her now-normal eyes. "I used my supernatural ability."

  I blinked. "Wait… what?"

  She stared at me for a moment, then sighed as if I had just asked something that should have been obvious. "This world isn’t just made up of what ordinary humans see. There are people called ‘Witches’—those who have the ability to manipute reality. And I’m one of them."

  I fell silent, trying to process that information. "Witches? So… magic is real in this world?"

  Azami nodded. "Yes, but not like what you might imagine. We ’t just shoot fireballs or turn someoo a frog." She crossed her arms. "ic is more about maniputiy. We see things others ’t, alter small aspects of reality, or create ‘paths’ to other worlds."

  I swallowed hard. "Other worlds?"

  She nodded again. "The Omnion World. A pce where Witches fully unleash their powers."

  I was still trying to digest all of this. "So, you use magic freely there?"

  Azami shook her head. "It’s not that simple. The Omnion World isn’t a pce you enter anytime. There are specifients when a ‘Gate’ opens. When that happens, Witches enter and use their powers more freely."

  I felt like my head was about to explode from all the new information. "Wait a minute. If there are Witches in this world, why haven’t I heard about them in my world?"

  She gave me a sharp look. "Maybe because your world is too ‘peaceful.’ Or maybe… the Witches there simply don’t want to be found."

  I shuddered. There was something in the way she said it that sent chills down my spine.

  I recalled the shadows I had just seen. "So… you see past events with yibsp;

  She nodded. "Yes. My ability is called Retrosight. I read the ‘traces of reality’ left in a pd see events that happehere before. But I only see them—I ’t ge them."

  I thought back to the shadows. "But… the victim seemed to be strangled by something invisible. You saw that tht?"

  Azami narrowed her eyes. "Yes. And that means the perpetrator isn’t an ordinary person."

  I tensed. "What do you mean?"

  She crossed her arms. *l"There’s a possibility the killer is also a Witch. Or at least, someoh access to magibsp;

  I felt my blood run cold. "So we’re dealing with someone who use magibsp;

  Azami gave a wry smile. "Looks like it.

  I let out a long sigh, feeling like I had stepped into a world far more dangerous than I had imagined. "So… are there many Witches in this world?"

  She nodded. "There are. But they’re divided into several levels."

  She raised her fingers one by one as she began to expin.

  "The lowest are Intermendians—those who only have a small amount of magical ability and ’t ehe Omnion World.

  Above them are Beginners—novice Witches who are just starting to uand their powers.

  Then there are Lower Middles—experienced Witches, but still limited in their abilities.

  After that, there are Hughes—high-level Witches who freely use various forms of reality manipution.

  **And at the top are Indepe Witches—Witches who move betweeies without restris, with almost limitless power."

  I swallowed hard. "And which level are you at?"

  She gave a faint smile. "I’m at the Hughes level. I’m still far from being an Indepe Witch."

  I let out a long breath. "And we’re dealing with someone who use magic, huh?"

  Azami nodded. "Seems like it."

  I rubbed my face. "Damn. I’ve only been in this world for a day, and I’m already caught up in a murder case with a magic-wieldirator."

  Azami chuckled softly. "Wele to my reality, Azami Yuki."

  I could only sigh.

  It seemed my life in this world was going to be much harder than I had imagined.
