Chapter 2.1 – The Invisible Killer

  The world I thought was only slightly different from miurned out to be far more plex. Witches. The Omnion World. Reality manipution.

  And now, I was involved in a murder case involving someone who could use magibsp;

  I walked beside Azami Yuki—the female version of myself—trying to process all the information I had just received. The streets tonight felt quieter than usual. Or maybe it was just my imagination, as my mind was too busy thinking about the terrifying possibilities we had just uncovered.

  "So," I finally spoke up, "if the killer really is a Witch, how do we catch them?"

  Azami g me with a rexed expression. "That's what we o figure out."

  I let out a long sigh. "You sound way too calm for someone hunting a killer who use magibsp;

  She smirked. "Well, you'll have to get used to it. In this world, murder cases aren't rare."

  I turo her with a furrowed brow. "What do you mean?"

  Azami slipped her hands into her jacket pockets and looked up at the cloudy sky. "In my world, there are fewer men than women. That means petition, flict, and crime follow different patterns pared to your world. Murders happen more often, whether for personal reasons er issues like politics or eics."

  I bit my lip. "So you've handled cases like this before?"

  She nodded slowly. "Almost every month."

  I swallowed hard. Every month?

  "And most of the killers are ordinary humans," she tinued, "but this time is different. This time, we might be dealing with someone who break the boundaries of reality."

  I was still struggling to accept that Witches were real. But after seeing firsthand how Azami used her powers, I knew I had no choice but to believe her.

  I tried to steer the versation toward something more practical. "So, based on what you saw earlier, how do we catch this killer?"

  Azami stopped walking and leaned against a mppost on the side of the road. "There are two possibilities. First, the killer used some kind of magic to create an illusion, making themselves invisible to others. Sed, they used another method to make themselves uable."

  I remembered how the victim appeared to be strangled by something invisible. "So they're pletely invisible?"

  Azami narrowed her eyes, as if deep in thought. "irely. If they were pletely invisible, there would be no traces left. But we still see remnants of magical energy at the crime se. That means there's a gap we exploit."

  I didn't fully uand, but I nodded anyway.

  "Tomorrow, we'll go back to the crime se," she said, then started walking again. "I want to firm something."

  I followed her, still w what kind of world I had gotten myself into.

  I still wasn't used to all of this. My previous world was too peaceful—too ordinary.

  But here?

  In just one day, I had been dragged into a murder case, fronted with the cept of magic that previously oed in fi, and now I had to help a detective who turned out to be **the female version of myself.**

  We walked along the quiet sidewalk. The dim streetlights stretched our shadows across the halt. The sky was still overcast, hiding the moon and stars behind a b of clouds.

  I g Azami Yuki—the female version. She looked calm, as if this were just another routine for her. She even seemed to be enjoying the situation, unlike me, who felt like my head was about to explode from all the new information.

  "I still 't believe it," I finally said, "that we might be dealing with a killer who use magibsp;

  Azami gave a small smirk. "If you think this is weird, you haven't seen anythi."

  I swallowed hard. "What do you mean?"

  She stopped walking and looked at me with a serious expression.

  "This case… feels different from the usual," she said slowly. "Normally, murders here have clear motives—revenge, money, power. But this time, it feels like something bigger."

  A chill ran down my spine. "You think… there's more to this than just an ordinary murder?"

  Azami nodded. "And that means we o be careful."

  I took a deep breath, trying to gather my ce. "So, tomorrow we go back to the crime se to look for more clues?"

  She gave a faint smile. "Yes, and I want to firm something."

  I looked at her uainly. "firm what?"

  Azami didn't answer right away. She just stared at the dark sky, her eyes glinting in the dim streetlight.

  "You'll see tomorrow," she finally said, then started walking again.

  I let out a long sigh and followed her.

  I still didn't know what we would faext. But ohing was certain—I couldn't back out now.
