Pokémon: My Titles Know No Limits! [78]

August had no idea that Professor Cerise was already preparing to dive down to rescue him.

Accompanied by Gardevoir and Dragonair, he continued deeper into the passage.

Dragonite and most of the Unown remained outside.

Only the first Unown he had awakened followed alongside him, guiding the way.

After advancing about a dozen meters, the passage suddenly opened up into a rge chamber.

It resembled the room above, but unlike the previous chamber, which had an altar at its center, this one had an egg.

  A huge egg.

By August’s estimation, it was at least a meter tall.

Its surface was adorned with silver speckles, giving it an elegant and beautiful appearance.

At that moment, the Silver Wing in August’s pocket shone even brighter.

  A silver-patterned egg… reacting to a [Silver Wing]…

It was obvious what kind of Pokémon y within.

  Is this a Lugia egg?

As a confirmed Legendary species with a known popution, Lugia was certainly capable of ying eggs.

The Unown immediately floated over to the egg, and August followed closely.

The moment he got a closer look, he noticed something off.

  This egg had been attacked.

Hairline cracks covered its surface—not catastrophic, but enough to indicate prior damage.

But the real problem y on the left side, near the upper third of the egg.

A gaping wound, nearly piercing through the shell, marred its surface.

Bck, ominous energy swirled around the wound, corrupting the surrounding shell with a darkened hue.

Gardevoir attempted to analyze it with her psychic powers.

  It’s Ghost-type energy. Highly concentrated.

  August turned to the Unown.

"You brought me here… because you want me to heal this egg?"

  The Unown nodded.

  Now, everything made sense.

This Lugia egg had been sealed within these ruins by an ancient civilization, with the Unown assigned to guard it.

When August used his [Viridian Power] to communicate with them earlier, the Unown must have recognized his ability to heal.

They had then activated the ruins’ mechanisms, bringing him here—believing he could save the egg.

  "What a series of coincidences…"

Had August not followed up on the [Silver Wing] from Blue, he might have missed this entirely.

But there was one thing still bothering him.

"How can you be so sure I can heal it?"

Even an ancient civilization with advanced technology hadn’t been able to repair this egg.

His [Viridian Power] wasn’t omnipotent—wasn’t their trust a little too blind?

  Bzzz.

The Unown sent out another thought.

According to them, the ancient civilization had used a special technique to seal the egg here, allowing it to absorb the ocean’s energy to sustain itself.

However, after the civilization mysteriously vanished, the ruins had begun to decay.

Without maintenance, the temple’s power weakened, and soon, even the egg would lose its life force entirely.

At this rate, it was only a matter of time before the egg perished.

So when August—someone with a healing ability—appeared, the Unown had no choice but to take a chance.

“…So basically, I’m your st resort."

For a moment, August had almost thought himself to be some fated savior, guided by destiny to rescue the egg.

Turns out, he was just a lucky passerby who happened to have the right skillset.

  Still…

Even if it was just a desperate gamble—this was Lugia.

Of course, he was going to try.

First, he had Gardevoir attempt [Life Dew].

The healing droplets nded on the eggshell, momentarily causing it to glow.

But almost instantly, the dark Ghost energy fred up—as if agitated—and surged to counteract the healing.

The effects of [Life Dew] vanished completely.

“…Even after all these years, this Ghost energy is still resisting healing?”

Now, August understood why even an ancient civilization hadn’t relied on Pokémon healing techniques.

It was because of this energy.

  The Unown sent another message.

This was already a much weaker form of the energy.

  August’s brows twitched.

If this is already weakened, then whoever did this must have had a massive grudge against Lugia…

Whatever happened in the past, August didn’t have time to investigate.

His priority was saving the egg.

"If I want to heal this, I need to clear out the Ghost energy first…"

  Ghost-types counter Psychic-types—but not completely.

  August turned to Gardevoir.

She nodded, cradling the Psychic-type Pte in one hand while lifting her Mega Stone with the other.

August pced his hand on the Key Stone on his wrist.

  A brilliant light fred.

The glow enveloped Gardevoir, and in an instant—her gown turned bck.

An overwhelming surge of psychic power radiated from her.

This was the first time August had ever used Mega Evolution after obtaining the [Mind Pte].

Even when facing Lt. Surge, he hadn’t needed this form.

“…How do you feel?” August asked.

  The amplification is stronger.

Gardevoir lifted her hand, and the [Mind Pte] floated in front of her.

  "Stronger?" August murmured.

Could it be that the stronger her psychic power, the more effectively she can utilize the [Mind Pte]?

His gaze shifted to the Lugia egg.

"Let’s see if we can drive out this Ghost energy."

  Gardevoir’s eyes gleamed blue.

Lifting her arm, she unleashed a wave of highly condensed psychic energy—so dense that the air itself warped in response.

As the energy struck the egg, it cshed violently with the Ghost aura.

  But this time—

Unlike [Life Dew], which was overpowered instantly, Psychic energy was able to resist.

The boost from the [Mind Pte] had raised its quality to a level that rivaled the Ghost energy.

Bit by bit, the Ghost energy weakened.

  Finally—

  It dissipated completely.

Seeing that the corruption was finally gone, August pced his hand on the egg and activated his [Viridian Power].

Through the energy, he felt something—

  A faint, weak consciousness.

It wasn’t fully developed—more like an instinctual will to survive.

  But it was there.

  "...So you’re still holding on?"

  August’s gaze softened.

"Don’t worry. I’ll do everything I can to heal you."

With that, he channeled his [Viridian Power], syncing it with Gardevoir’s [Healing Pulse], and let the energy flow into the egg.
