Chapter 405

Looking at the sobbing Anna and the other girls who looked like they wanted to cry as well, Anton thought that it was a mistake to share his thoughts about the Undead Coalition with them.

“I’m sorry about that, guys. As I’ve said, please don’t care too much about what I’ve said since those were just possible things that I thought might happen since I don’t really know the power structure of this world. Walter, can you tell us about the powers that be that will protect the New Drennor city if the undead attacked it?” Anton suddenly dragged Walter into the discussion.

“Anton is right. There are very powerful people in this world, and in New Drennor alone, I don’t really know the hidden ones, but I do know that all the heads of magic academies are very powerful, Invincible Wizards, so I don’t think that the humans are powerless. What we thought was that the powers that be allowed the undead to rampage because what they were doing was not affecting their personal interests. Please remember that the powerful beings of this world tend to be very selfish and would only move if their interests were affected. At least, that is what we think. That’s the reason I was a bit shocked when Anton said those things about humans surviving in some sort of sanctuary,” Walter said.

“Why did you think that dark situation was possible?” Frederick asked.

“The dimension where the movies and shows came from also produced a lot of novels of every genre and I’ve been reading some novels that had dark themes wherein humanity were conquered by enemies, either undead or aliens from other dimension and the only way for the humans to survive was to enclose themselves into a tight sanctuary and do everything in their power to keep the last remaining bastion safe. I thought that that situation was possible in this world,” Anton shrugged.

Anna suddenly threw a couch pillow at Anton again, but at least the last sentence that Anton uttered calmed everyone down. Anton saw that Walter and Lunelle were shaking their heads, and even Ramona and Belinda looked at him in disappointment. Anna just glared at him, but at least everyone became lively again.

Anton knew that even though they were treating what Anton had said about the Undead Coalition conquering the humans and that it would result in the humans creating a last bastion as their sanctuary from the undead as some product of a wild imagination, he knew that a seed was planted deep in everyone’s heart and he knew that just like him, it would result in them striving for more power so they would be able to defend themselves against their enemies. He thought that a thinking like that was needed during these chaotic times.

Anton entered his rooms and started hunting for the “Best in Slot” gears for his Assassin since there was nothing more that he could do to prepare against the attack from the sea monsters once the ship passed through the Straits of Nehomonde. Before lunch arrived, though, he got tired of hunting gears, so he decided to practice his music, and that’s what he did until he took a break to eat lunch with the others.

“What did you all do this morning? I thought you would just memorize the spells that you might use tomorrow.” Anton asked since he did notice them still using the mana power bank.

“We tried it, but it only took a very short time for us to memorize the spells, so after that, there was nothing more to do, so we decided to cast them and learned them again just like a regular magic practice. We will just memorize everything again later,” Lunelle said.

“Don’t forget your wands and your magic belts,” Anton reminded everyone, but Anna just rolled her eyes at him.

Anton knew that he was nagging a bit, but he was a bit worried about them. After lunch, he spent a bit of time creating some enchanted items and then returned to hunting for gears. He must have been blessed by the goddess of luck since by the time dinner arrived, he actually found all of the best items for his Assassin. He did spend several hours non-stop, so he felt that that contributed to him finding all of the items. Of course, even though he considered the items the best, they didn’t have the truly best options, and he did plan to hunt for those once all of his characters reached maximum level.

During dinnertime, when Anders and the others arrived, including Antonia, Lucia, and Philip, they stayed at the suite since it was announced that the dining hall would be closed that night. Anton was prepared to talk with his family for hours since it was the last night before the battle.

“Where are you going to stay tomorrow?” Anton asked Antonia, Lucia, and Philip.

“We will join some of the officers at the conference room beside the bridge,” Antonia said.

“I will join the mages at the wizards’ hall since I’m now a mage,” Walter said proudly.

“I wish I could join you,” Anders said to Anton.

“I will not be fighting, Father, so you can rest assured,” Anton said, and Anders looked at him questioningly.

“I forgot to tell you. Earlier, the Supreme Adinor came and informed me that they will put me in a room where some of the other mages can easily access so they can refill their spells when needed. Basically, I will just work as a support. If you really want, you can even join me in that room, but I’m thinking that it will be very boring, so just stay here with the others,” Anton said.

Anton and his family spent the rest of the evening talking about anything that they could think of. He even offered to leave three small Globes so they could watch new movies the next day and even though his father said that they would be probably be too worried to watch a film tomorrow and enjoy it, Anders said that it would probably be a good distraction.

“Okay, I’ll leave you three Science Fiction films to check if they will be acceptable for our audiences,” Anton said then he canceled all the existing small Globes of Browser sharing and copied Star Wars IV: A New Hope, V: The Empire Strikes Back, and VI: Return of the Jedi.

Anton would just restore the small globe for the Beauty and the Beast for its showing next week. He hoped that the Star Wars films would distract everyone from their worries tomorrow.

Anders then asked what the movies were all about, so he gave a brief synopsis of the Star Wars films. The synopsis alone brought on a discussion, so he had high hopes that the films would be a good distraction since even Antonia, Lucia, and Philip said that they wished they could stay at the suite to watch the films.

To be honest, if Anton was in the same situation as his father and the others, he would not be able to concentrate on the films since he would be worried about his children fighting off in a battle but he did assure his father that he wouldn’t be in the middle of the battle since his powers were more needed as support for the other mages. There were enough battle mages who would fight with the sea monsters.

Even though Anton felt that he would have preferred to battle it out with the monsters, he truly believed what he had said to his sister and the others. That there would be enough battles in their future that would last them for several lifetimes.
