ENTRY II - INFECTED FAUNAAfter getting my bearings, I went back down the lifepod dder. The radio was fshing, so I went to py its message. It said, "This is Aurora. Distress signal received." It continued, "Rescue operation will be dispatched to your location in 9... 9... 9... 9... 9... hours." I hope that's broken and not real time. Continuing, "Continue to monitor for emergency transmissions from other lifepods." I'm not going to find anyone, though.
I went to the fabricator, checking what I should do next. After looking through the blueprints, I set my sights on the habitat builder as my main goal. It requires a computer chip, a wiring kit, and a battery. A wiring kit and a battery I know, but I haven't seen a computer chip. Maybe I just didn't look enough. I also made the survival knife my immediate goal.
I opened the lifepod storage container, grabbing the one silicone rubber I had. I exited from the bottom of the lifepod, down into the dark sea. There were many things glowing, like that blue and bck wide fish, some flora, and some other stuff. With my newly acquired fins, I rushed after the blue and bck wide fish, hoping I could scan it this time.
I chased it down and scanned it, learning it was called a rabbit ray. I wondered if I did have the fins on, so I briefly checked through the PDA. I did. I saw the fish with the purple membrane in my immediate vicinity, and of course, I went to scan it. It's called a bdderfish. Does that mean it has urine in it? If so, disgusting.
I went to the nearby gasopod, hoping I could grab some of the gas pods. I managed to grab two, before trying to go for a third one and it exploded on me. I said it before, I know, but it smells. I forgot to mention it also hurts. I headed further down, picking up a boomerang fish. I found a new pnt, which looks like the top of a blue palm tree. It's appropriately called blue palm. Looking back on it, I think I might've missed a possible new pnt.
I went into a nearby cave with some shuttlebugs, hoping to look for resources I could use for the habitat builder. I grabbed a single piece of titanium from a limestone outcrop and fled outside the cave. My attention was grabbed by a peeper swimming around. Of course, I grabbed it. I went back into the lifepod to use the fabricator.
I looked over some blueprints reting to food and drink. Obviously, you can cook the fish, but are bdderfish really used for water? Although there is a cleaner option, using bleach. You even get two from the bleach blueprint for the water. Still, you gotta do what you gotta do. I went to check over the bleach blueprint next, which bleach is made of 1 salt deposit and 1 coral tube sample.
I made the survival knife, equipping it after a few seconds. My PDA decided to give me some lore on why there's only a knife, "Weapons were removed from lifepod fabricators following the massacre on Obraxis Prime. The knife remains the only exception." Fun. Totally not concerning at all.
Anyway, I decided to cook the peeper and boomerang fish. My PDA gave me some more information, "The fabricator cooks small organisms, while disposing of the skeletal structure, bodily fluids and internal organs, thus rendering them same for human consumption. I was looking over the descriptions of the cooked fish in my PDA. Apparently, the peeper's eyeball is protein rich, and the fish itself is highly nutritious. Interesting, but I don't care much.
I grabbed another medical kit, seeing the medical kit fabricator was ready, then opened up the lifepod storage container. I deposited the gas pods (they are called gas pods) into the container. I went back into the sea through the bottom exit of the lifepod, going back into the lifepod, then finally going back out. I was a bit undecisive.
I decided to head to the kelp forest, picking up a bdderfish along the way. My PDA decided to give me a tip, "Alien lifeforms may have unexpected applications. Utilizing alien resources is a proven survival strategy." I could already see that, what, with bdderfish being used for filtered water.
I paid for my thoughtless thought by being attacked by a stalker, which I thought weren't hostile against humans. Guess I thought wrong. Regardless, I went ahead to the kelp forest. I went to cut some creepvine using my newly acquired survival knife, thinking that maybe it could be useful ter.
Dodging the stalker, I went back into the kelp forest. I took out my scanner, then grabbed a creepvine seed cluster. Looking around, I found a yellow and blue fish with 6 feet, but what's odd is the green spots it has on it. It doesn't look natural. Scanning it, I got my answer, which I was informed that it (A hoverfish, that's what its name is) is infected. By what, I'm not sure, but I don't like the look of this.
I continued looking around the kelp forest, hoping to find some outcrops. My PDA gave me a request, if you can call it that, "Life on this pnet grows in distinct and diverse ecological biomes. Further study recommended." Okay, sure, whatever. During the PDA's request, I found a sandstone outcrop, gaining a shiny yellow material.
I decided to head back to the lifepod, hoping to see what I could use this shiny yellow material in, and also what it's called. Although, on the way back, the stalker decided to come after me. I sshed it with my survival knife. After doing so, it went in the direction of my lifepod. I decided to ignore it, further going off into the distance, and head back into my lifepod.
I used the fabricator to make some filtered water from the bdderfish I had obtained. I have salt, and I could easily get a coral tube sample, but this is easier. I saw that I could use the creepvine samples to make some fiber mesh, so I did. Just as I finished making a fiber mesh, my lifepod started shaking a bit. I went out through the bottom, assuming it was the stalker from earlier.
Lo and behold, I was right. The stalker was right by the bottom of my lifepod. I fought it off with my survival knife, sending it fleeing in another direction. After dealing with that situation, I went back into the lifepod and to the fabricator, looking to see what I can make with fiber mesh.
Some things I could make are a first aid kit (It's nice to see that it's easily craftable, so I don't always have to wait for the medical kit fabricator), and a rebreather. The rebreather conserves oxygen when diving deeper, needing a wiring kit and a fiber mesh. It's doable, so I'll put it as a secondary goal.
My main goal is the habitat builder, while my secondary goals are the rebreather and to find more salvage. I went into the lifepod storage container and took out the one silver I had in there. I had two filtered waters, and an old, cooked boomerang. I wonder if there's something like a freezer.
Regardless, I went to the fabricator and started looking through the tools. While doing so, I found something interesting. Air bdder. It rapidly ascends a person to the surface and can provide emergency oxygen. All it requires is one silicone rubber and one bdderfish. I decided to work on that before getting the habitat builder.
I used the creepvine seed cluster I had picked up earlier to make some silicone rubber. I didn't even pn for this. Luckily enough, I grabbed one anyway. I went looking through the blueprints, before realizing, 'Oh. I used the bdderfish for filtered water.'
I went through the bottom of the lifepod, deciding to go look for some bdderfish. Before doing so, I saw a red leech like fish in the corner of my eye. That surely won't be a problem ter. Looking at the nearby pink blobs hanging on a floating rock, I decided to take a quick detour to investigate said pink blobs. I pulled out my scanner and... well... scanned it. Turns out they're called floaters, likely responsible for making the rock float, judging by the name. I picked one up.
