Chapter 01 I’m a farmer… Now what?

I stood in line waiting for the biggest alteration in my life. When someone turns sixteen, they’re considered an adult and can gain a css. The css they’re given is based on what they have done in their life. For me, it could be anything. From wizard to baker, fighter to priest, I could be given any css from how I was forced to live.

Working any job that would hire me just to get food in my belly might have backfired and bit me in the ass. I doubted it, though. I spent far more time training with weapons, never really taking any of the jobs seriously. The only thing I cared about was food, fighting and fucking. If I gained a css that let me do those three things better, then I’d be happy.

While I’d prefer a combat css, I knew how important non-combatants were. For every ten successful adventurers, it takes a team of hundreds to supply them to a level where they can succeed. A strong party has to make bonds with everyone they purchase from, or they can end up in a bad spot needing to travel far and wide to get the items and equipment they would need to adventure.

The priestess at the front of the line was grabbing water from a basin in front of her before rubbing it onto a person. With enough apathy to kill a cat, she unpassionately read off their css. “Scout… Baker... Rogue… Leatherworker… Fighter… Leathworker... Bard… Crafter… Oh, wizard. Come talk to me after the daily css bestowal. Ranger… Priest… Bcksmith… Uncommon fighter. Someone’s parents are adventurers, I see… Sorcerer… You look a little frail to me, though… Bulk up, then come visit me in a few months.”

She was a very conventionally attractive woman, and she made it clear she was looking for a husband with magic powers. Her outfit was mostly soaked from pulling holy water from the basin, making her sheer robe cling to her, revealing almost everything. Large breasts and raven bck hair with a resting bitch face that pulled everything together. She hit all my boxes for attractiveness, and I felt myself lean toward wanting a magical css.

Those were slightly uncommon, and the other female priest who gained her css today stared daggers at her. I kept staring at her face, looking at her pouty lips and visible nipples, feeling myself grow hard before I even realized I was at the front of the line. She rubbed me down with the water before speaking. “Farmer…”

Farmer… Out of all the csses I could have gotten, I got one of the worst. What are the chances? I made sure not to grow food for that specific reason. God must just hate me. I didn’t realize I had just stood there staring at her as I spoke until she yelled at me. “Move dumbass!” It jolts me out of my thoughts as I run out of line, upset at my css and embarrassed by my distraction.

Fuck, fucking fuck. All csses are useful, but why farmer? I don’t want to sit around watching pnts grow. I don’t want to live in an undefendable position with a css that can’t defend itself. Farmers were practically crack for bandits. My life was going to be rough unless I could get one of the farm positions around a city. Maybe my skills would make up for it?

  Info | Stats | Skills | Jobs | Misc

I click info, knowing all the information that will be there, but still wanting to see my css added.

  Info

  Name: Danial Drizzle

  Age: 16

  Height: 6’

  Weight: 200

  Health: 121

  Mana: 105

  Stamina: 242

  Css: Farmer

  Level: 01

Yea. Just the new farmer css in the css slot. I clicked stats next, knowing that my css most likely wouldn’t affect them.

  Stats

  Strength: 1.2

  Perception: .91

  Endurance: 1.21

  Charm: 1.11

  Intellect: 1.05

  Agility: 1.17

  Luck: 1.5

My stats were good, great even. Too bad they don’t mean much since I got a non-combat css. That endurance I trained my ass off for just means I’ll be able to shovel shit for that much longer. My good luck never seemed to get me what I wanted. Having a general-purpose css meant my stats would all go up evenly. That meant more of the stats I didn’t need, like luck. I sighed as I clicked over to skills, hoping to see something good.

Farming- Increases yield, quality of crops, and experience with gathering jobs by 100%. Decreases the chance of low-quality crops, fatigue from farming, and time for pnts to fully grow by 50%.

Tool user- Increases ability to use tools. Decreases fatigue from using tools.

Minor spell user- Increases the speed of acquiring new minor spells and reduces the cost of using those spells. Choose utility-based spell specialization.

Jack of all- Gain minor proficiency with all weapons, armor, magical affinities, extra specializations, and jobs.

Symbiotic enduring bond- Gain 10% of any sexual partners stats for a day after coputing. The bonus is doubled and permanent for you and your wife. The wife gains a skill that is helpful for farming.

That… I can’t believe I got a double modifier on a skill right from the start. The way csses work, as they level, they increase your stats. You can sacrifice those levels to gain more skills or apply modifiers to skills, but lose the stats. Jack of all could become murderous jack of all which would remove most of the skill but increase the effect for weapons.

You can also get negative modifiers. That also meant you could get a double modifier like I did with symbiotic and enduring. There were also rarities to modifiers. I think the enduring might be uncommon, while the symbiotic looked to be rare, maybe even epic. It was about a one in a thousand chance to get a double modifier, while it was about a one in a million chance for a triple modifier.

Still, my skills kind of sucked right now. Knowing that the warriors gain passive increased melee damage, a melee damaging on-use skill, a defensive skill, and two survival skills made it clear that I wasn’t going anywhere near a dungeon for a very long time. Even if a warrior had the same stats as I, it would probably take four of me for it to be a fair fight.

I quickly made my decision and started packing my belongings.
