"Hinata, I didn't sleep well st night. Could you help me take some notes?"
"Huh?"
Hinata was momentarily stunned, but Naruto didn't care at all! He immediately closed his eyes. Hinata opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but in the end, she remained silent and quietly took the notebook in front of her.
Iruka, who was writing on the bckboard with his back to the students, turned around and immediately spotted Naruto sprawled on the desk, fast asleep. His face twisted in anger, and the chalk in his hand snapped into two pieces.
"Uzumaki Naruto!"
Iruka roared, hurling the broken chalk at Naruto. Hinata instinctively ducked, and the two pieces of chalk hit Naruto squarely on the head. But Naruto didn't react at all, still snoring away. Iruka's lips twitched in fury as he strode step by step toward Naruto. The other students in the cssroom held their breath, not daring to make a sound.
"Naruto-kun..."
Hinata anxiously nudged Naruto lightly, but before she could do anything else, Iruka had already arrived.
BANG!
Iruka smmed his hand down hard on Naruto's desk, creating a loud noise that sounded like thunder to Naruto, jolting him awake.
"Ah! Wh-what's going on? An earthquake?"
"You! Get out to the doorway and stand there as punishment!"
Iruka shout at Naruto, his spit nearly hitting Naruto's face. The sight of Iruka's furious expression startled Naruto. He had expected Iruka to be angry, but he hadn't anticipated such an intense reaction.
"Iruka-sensei, you..."
"Get out!"
"Ah... ah!"
Naruto was startled again and didn't dare to dey. He immediately got up and ran to the doorway to stand as punishment.
As soon as Naruto left the cssroom, Iruka quickly adjusted his emotions, his tone calm and steady, as if nothing had happened.
"Alright, css, let's continue. Please look at the bckboard. The Transformation Technique is..."
Naruto leaned against the wall, arms crossed, feeling particurly puzzled as he listened to Iruka's voice from outside.
"Hmm... Something's off. Why is Iruka so angry? He kicked me out over such a small thing. Did he get dumped? Wait, has he even been in a retionship?"
Naruto began sifting through his memories, trying to recall if Iruka had ever been in a retionship, but after searching for a while, he found nothing. He decided to let it go and leaned against the wall, falling back asleep.
When the css bell rang, Naruto was already sound asleep. Thanks to Naruto's earlier example, the other students had been very attentive throughout the lesson, and the cssroom discipline was excellent. Iruka was very satisfied. However, as soon as he stepped out of the cssroom, he saw Naruto snoring away, and his good mood instantly shattered.
"Uzumaki Naruto!"
Iruka roared at Naruto again. The other students, who were about to leave, immediately ducked their heads and retreated, not daring to cross paths with Iruka at that moment.
Naruto, who had been asleep, was startled awake by the shout. However, his first reaction wasn't to focus on Iruka but rather on the students leaving the cssroom.
"Huh? Css is already over? Oh, Iruka-sensei, since it's over, I'll head out first."
Iruka's face turned red with anger. He had been a teacher for several years now, but he had never encountered a student as outrageous as Naruto. Thankfully, he was still young; if he were in his seventies or eighties, he might have already needed an oxygen tank by now.
"Stop right there! Didn't I tell you to stand in punishment? What are you doing?"
"Huh? I am standing in punishment. I haven't sat down at all. Why are you so angry? Getting angry can lead to high blood pressure, you know, 'that's not good'."
"You... you!! After school, come to my office! I'm going to test you on transformation jutsu theory. If you fail, don't even think about going home!"
Iruka roared furiously, his expression as if he wanted to tear Naruto to shreds on the spot. But to Naruto, those words sounded like heavenly music, as if he had been struck by a sudden epiphany. Excitedly, he grabbed Iruka's hand.
"Iruka-sensei!"
"Hmph! It's too te to regret now. Even if I..."
"Iruka-sensei! You're a genius!"
Iruka was dumbfounded. He had thought Naruto grabbed his hand out of fear, perhaps to beg for mercy. But instead, he was met with fttery.
"Wh-what?"
Naruto didn't care whether Iruka was stunned or not. Detention! This was detention! If he could get detention every day, wouldn't that mean he wouldn't have to train with Kakashi? Wouldn't that mean he could live a carefree life every day?
The more Naruto thought about it, the more excited he became. If Iruka weren't a man, Naruto might have even hugged him and pnted a couple of kisses on his cheeks.
"Iruka-sensei! You absolutely must fulfill your duty as a teacher! You have to keep me te tonight! No, better yet, keep me until tomorrow! How about that? You can keep me every day! I'll even set up a futon in your office. Don't worry, I won't trouble you at all. Just agree, and I promise I'll be on my best behavior. I'll even ask for your permission before leaving the school grounds. What do you think?"
Iruka stared at Naruto's eager expression, his mouth hanging open in disbelief. It took him a while to recover, and when he did, the way he looked at Naruto had changed.
"Naruto, are you... are you sick?"
"No, I'm..."
"Alright, maybe I spoke too harshly earlier. Go back to css now, and make sure to pay attention next time."
Iruka shook off Naruto's hand and strode away. Naruto, however, grew anxious.
"Hey! Hey! Iruka-sensei! Don't go! I'm serious! Think about it! I'm not trying to freeload! I'll clean your office for free, or even grade papers for you! Iruka-sensei!"
Hearing the shouts behind him, Iruka didn't stop. Instead, he quickened his pace, all the while reflecting on whether he had been too strict with his new student. Maybe he needed to adjust his approach in the future?
Naruto watched longingly as Iruka disappeared into the office, sighing deeply with regret. But there was nothing he could do except return to the cssroom.
The students in the cssroom, seeing Naruto in such a state, assumed he had been punished and started whispering among themselves or ughing at him. However, Naruto didn't care about any of that. He casually returned to his seat, and as soon as he sat down, Hinata slid her notebook over to him.
"Naruto-kun, here's my notebook. Um... are you okay?"
"Huh? Oh! Thanks, I'm fine. Just a little disappointed, that's all."
"I see... As long as you're okay."
Hinata avoided making eye contact with Naruto the entire time, something he was already used to. He casually flipped open the notebook, which was neatly filled with notes. Occasionally, there were small doodles of cat heads in the margins, likely drawn over mistakes in the writing.
