Wang Yun frowned when he heard that... and slowed down as he hid behind a house, trying to avoid being suspicious.
"Please, this is all I have!"
But Yang Tai ignored him, and his small entourage soon left. Peeking behind the building, Wang Yun saw Yang Tai's back.
He knew that his son's acceptance into the sect had naturally made him arrogant and increased his status among the vilge, but he didn't expect it to be this much.
He wondered if the Yang family and the Wang family had any grievances, but from his memories, there shouldn't be.
He wasn't really afraid of their family or his son; he was afraid of the Jade Mountain Sect itself. Unless he had the strength to fight the sect alone, he really had no choice but to be careful around them.
He pondered whether he could set up an accident for this guy... then shook his head, reprimanding himself for having such dark thoughts. He knew this world was dangerous, in ways different from Earth, but that didn't mean he could succumb to dark means so easily.
Seeing that Yang Tai was gone, he pulled back the cart and headed toward Xun Jian, who looked dejected.
When he saw him, he said, "Ah, little Yun, the barrels are over there on the side."
Xun Jian opened his mouth wanting to say something, but in the end, he closed it. He felt it was useless talking to a 12-year-old like Wang Yun.
After he loaded the barrels, he pushed the cart back to his home when a little figure saw him and quickly approached him.
"Brother-in-w!" The chubby kid excimed. He was about a head shorter than him, with bck messy hair and eyes. Wang Yun raised his eyebrows as he saw his face was bruised.
"Xun Shen, what happened to your face?" Wang Yun asked, remembering the kid. He was about a year older than his sister and cimed to have fallen in love with her. Hence, some adults joked that Xun Shen should be calling him brother-in-w, and by now, Xun Shen never stopped calling him that. Wang Yun shook his head with a wry smile at the memory.
Xun Shen smiled stupidly and patted his chest. "I fought the older kids and won! You should have seen me! I used the Spear Thunder Technique and was like..."
The kid immediately started bragging, though Wang Yun had a feeling he was actually beaten up instead of winning as he cimed.
Then the kid suddenly stopped and put on a knowing smile at him, though with his face, it looked comical. "Hehe, Wang Yun, don't look at me like that. At least I didn't go home naked in the morning!"
Wang Yun was stunned. "When did that happen?" he asked incredulously.
Xun Shen tilted his head. "Fang Li told me! He said his father saw you naked after coming back from pying in the forest!"
Hearing that, Wang Yun ughed in disbelief. "I had clothes! I wasn't naked!" he said with gritted teeth before bursting out ughing. Xun Shen joined him after.
They chatted, and Wang Yun briefly mentioned the matter about Yang family and his uncle, but Xun Shen was still too young to realize the gravity of the problem, so he just brushed it off.
It felt weird. With his memories, he was practically in his mid-20s in his mind so it was quite weird having a friend of 9 year old.. So after a few awkward moments, Wang Yun went on his way.
On the way back, he pondered that even though he was Wang Yun now and technically 12 years old, that didn't mean he wouldn't do anything for his family.
His father was a part-time guard, part-time hunter, and part-time martial instructor, so he was quite busy. Because of his strength, he could easily provide for his family.
His mother tended to the tavern but also sometimes hunted to not forget her skills.
His uncle was a Rank 1 martial artist, and although he didn't seem to mind it, Wang Yun knew his uncle was bothered by his ck of talent. Nevertheless, he knew his uncle was a good man who worked as a chef in the tavern.
All in all, it seemed like there was nothing they couldn't provide for their children. It was more than enough to give them a modest life.
So it seemed like he didn't need to burden himself with providing for them, but that didn't mean he would just let things be. He had strength now, and especially in this world, one's status and treatment should be equivalent to one's strength! Of course, without attracting too much danger if possible.
But really, he just wanted to make his family flourish. What son or parent don't want to see their family do well?
Hence, as the day passed and he saw his siblings practicing with him, he came up with an idea of what he could do to truly help his family. If he couldn't become a powerful and immortal cultivator, then he would help his family to become so!
"I've got to say... you really surprised me the first time... hehe," Wang Yun chuckled, maintaining his posture as he sat on a silver-haired beast.
"Arrhhnn!" The familiar silverback beast groaned beneath him as it tried to stand up but cked the strength to do so.
Wang Yun kept exerting his strength to prevent it from standing up. It had been nine days since he awakened his memories as Dean, and during these past couple of days, he had been going out into the forest after helping his family, either by hunting, practicing his increasing strength daily, or looking for rumored herbs and pnts said to aid in cultivation.
But obviously, looking for the tter in this forest was almost futile. This area had other name, the Desote Green Forest, and it had a low amount of qi in the air. So the chances of finding treasures that could help cultivation were low.
And today, while he was practicing his spear techniques, this guy showed up and actually charged at him!
Unfortunately for this goril, he was much stronger than the first time they fought.
K'el
Race: Kryptonian
Css: 0
Physique: 53
Abilities: None
His physique had reached 53! Estimating roughly, that meant he had the strength of nearly 16 tons!
He wondered how powerful he was compared to other higher ranks of the martial realm. Unfortunately, even his father didn't know exactly how strong the higher ranks were and could only describe them as "At least a few times stronger than me."
He had also tried to awaken abilities like flight or ice breath for the st couple of days but to no avail. He wouldn't stop though, since his status panel had the abilities section, it definitely meant he would have them sooner or ter.
"What are you doing in these parts, white beast?" Wang Yun turned his attention back to the goril beneath him, still trying to stand up.
He was answered with a growl, as if indignant.
Wang Yun chuckled in amusement. He wondered if he should kill the beast, but he had grown fond of it over their battle. "Can you understand me? If you can, just nod," he asked, even though it was a really stupid question. He had heard that there were rare and intelligent beasts, but intelligence usually meant these beasts either had a high cultivation rank or high potential. And clearly, the beast wasn't the former.
The beast answered with a growl again, and Wang Yun shook his head, not disappointed as he didn't really expect much. When suddenly, he saw the beast look at him from the corner of its eyes and nod with a loud grumble. Wang Yun was stunned.
"You can!?" Wang Yun nearly jumped at the revetion. 'This beast has high potential?!' he thought for a second. Then he remembered that even in previous lives, there were ape species that were intelligent enough to communicate with humans through hand signs. So this shouldn't be too shocking.
Just as he was about to ask it a question,
Horrrrr!
A low, rumbling, but sinister sound came faintly from the distance.
Wang Yun immediately got to his feet. The direction was from his vilge!
The goril hurriedly took this chance to get back on its feet, but its eyes were pointed in the direction from where the roar came from. It then turned its head to Wang Yun and let out a low growl before jumping away.
Wang Yun didn't pay attention to it as he ran quickly back to the vilge.
'Has something happened?' he thought worriedly, imagining the worst as he sprinted towards the vilge.
