The First Step

The day after Len had awakened his skill he came to Morgan's potion shop as he normally would and found Morgan waiting for him.

"so what's your skill you little brat?" Morgan looked at Len with eyes full of greed.

"What skill? I don't have one." Len spoke without the slightest bit of hesitation, he even made a face as if he had heard something absurd.

"You should just become an actor with skills like that."

  "I am not acting"

"You sure do think I am a dumbass, don't you? Do you really think a normal person can sense mana in just a few hours." Morgan seemed rathe disappointed by Len's stupid act.

"Fine I do have skill but you don't expect me to advertise it to the whole world, do you?" Len spoke btantly.

"I am your master you dumbass." Morgan hit Len right on the head as he said this. "Now show me the skill."

Len fred a murderous eye towards Morgan but Morgan wasn't the least bit bothered by it. "Devour" Len chanted and then his shadow erupted and swallowed a few nearby bottles of potion.

"Intriguing, now spit out the bottles or pay for them. No freebies in my shop."

Len looked at Morgan and rolled his eyes, "Devour" Len chanted once again and the darkness returned the potions to exactly where it had taken them from.

"Splendid!" excimed Morgan. "Does it have a limit?" Morgan asked expectantly.

"I haven't found one yet." Len sounded somewhat prideful as said that.

"I know you are smart enough to have tried out what I am thinking right now so tell me did it work." Morgan asked with fre in his eyes. As Len gnced into Morgan's eyes he saw something else hidden beneath that fir or rather the fir was to feeble to hide what Morgan truly felt. It was desperation Len could recognize it for he knew it all to well.

"It worked" Len spoke without even the slightest shift in tone despite what he saw.

"Seems I can skip the boring part of the alchemy process for you but still try to figure it out on your own after all you would still need that for the approval of the alchemy tower" Morgan quickly took out a few books and tossed them to Len. "These will help you in that regard. Now listen carefully boy because of your skill you can skip the tedious process of extracting the useful materials from the ingredients but just mixing those materials together is not enough to create a potion you must use your mana in order to awaken the tent effects of those ingredients and amplify them. Their are also a few ingredients which cannot be mixed without using mana. The process is known as morphosis. All you have to do for now is create a thin strand of your mana and use it to stir the potion with time you can increase the number of strands and try to create a small whirlpool inside the potion using them, this method of morphosis is known as the whirlpool method." Morgan picked up a gss of water and out of nowhere a few golden strands formed inside it and began to spin around creating a small whirlpool.

"Understood" said Len as he kept aside the books that Morgan had handed him.

"Now start making potions and remember you will have to pay for the wasted ingredients." Morgan left with a sinister smile on his face.

"Gd he doesn't smile much otherwise the shop would as barren as a dessert " thought Len as he picked out a few herbs for practice.

"Let's begin." Len used his skill to extract the necessary substances from the herbs and put them all inside a fsk and began attempting the morphosis. After a few tries Len got the hang of it and began to quickly make more potions in order to improve his proficiency.

The day passed by and the sun was on it's course to disappear behind the horizon. Morgan was preparing to close the shop, a little while ter he went inside the storage and as soon as he entered he noticed the missing smell of herbs."What did that brat do this time?" Morgan moved ahead with annoyed expression and saw Len sleeping with his head on the workbench surrounded by potions.

"So that's where the herbs went?", a greed filled smile appeared on Morgan's face as he looked at Len. "I hit the jackpot it seems."

"Wake up you dumb brat!" Shouted Morgan as he kicked Len off the chair.

  "That hurt!" Len cried out.

"Not more than an empty storage I assure you." Morgan gred at Len with rage filled eyes but Len could tell at a gnce that it was just a facade.

"Don't act like you are pissed off I know you aren't actually angry." Len compined as he got back up on his feet.

"Well you are right and why would I be angry I just got my hands on potin brewing machi-, I mean a talented student who can already start making potions." Morgan face had distorted into a sinister grin as spoke those words.

"Yeah nice but what's my cut I should be getting paid for making those." Len gave a rather concerning expression as he kept looking at Morgan's sinister grin.

"My sweet little disciple you know that students don't get paid right and according to the mana oath you are supposed to be my student for three more years." Morgan's grin grew even wider as he reminded Len of this little fact.

"You have to be kidding me."

"You wish I was. Why do you think people take in disciples at an old age, its to exploit them to do stuff they themselves are to tired to do." Morgan calmly expined to Len while stroking his head as if he was some kind of a pet animal.
