C10

Throughout the night, we talked. It took more time to convince them, but they came around. Then we talked about the steps involved.

"We need to begin fast. If we need permits, we get them fast. We begin at city hall tomorrow. Next, we make the molds and prepare the steel and brass. We will need to hire carpenters for the wood bits. Jorik, you do that. I will get the paperwork moving. Dorik, you watch the foundries. Keep things quiet. Keri, we need you to work for us full time. How can we make that happen?" Korik asks.

"I need a new body. One made by me, for me. I need access to one of your foundries for that." I say.

"Hm. Acceptable." He says, a hint of approval in his tone and gaze.

"Can I ask a question, Keri." Dorik asks.

  "Be my guest."

"Why is your voice like that? It sounds almost like an elfs." He says.

"I chose to use an androgynous voice due to the fact I am neither male nor female. While some golems might use a male or female name and pronouns for ease of use, humanizing, and so on, I don't care over much. I am an 'it'. I was created. I am not ashamed, nor do I hide it. I don't care if people call me lesser because I wasn't pushed out of a flesh tube, or that I didn't 'grow up'." I say.

In the 30th century, such things were rare, but not unheard of. Heh, I remember someone calling me subhuman after I insulted them. Funny, I admit. I wonder if it will be more prevalent now.

  Stolen story; please report.

"Well, do good work, and we won't care. Do bad work, get fired like everyone else. No need for racism or what have ye." Korik stated with a chuckle.

"HA. Fare enough. Fair enough. Now, I will begin the process of building my body now. Where can I go?" I ask.

They pointed me to one of their foundries. When I entered, I found early industrial style instruments. Large pots melted metal of all sorts, chains pulled this way and that.

The technology level of this world was... inconsistent. Magic was a great equalizer. It took them ages to get gunpowder, and yet they have industrial equipment. It was... odd.

I need to look at combat usage of magic, because right now, I saw runes on instruments controlling, and generally helping the entire process here. I'd bet heat dissipation, cooling, and the like. I would ask Dorik later.

I went to the back where people were swinging on anvils. Sorry small things, stiff like this worked perfectly well. Dawves, humans, and more forged here. I even saw a goblin in the back.

I stepped behind an anvil and looked around. A hammer, tongs... yep. It was time to begin the work. First I would make a printer by hand. Copper was needed.

I looked and saw an area filled to the brim with separate materials. I got up, grabbed 6, 10 pound ingots, and went back. I lighted the fire by the anvil, and started heating the bars.

I got a large crucible, and when the copper was hot, I took it out, and split the bars to fit in the crucible better. When the copper was in, I put the crucible in. I got the mold in the fire (a long thin line made for a few separate things like ornamentation), and when all was ready, I poured into the mold. When it was full, some copper dripped out.

To ensure even cooling I had to watch it carefully. When it was ready, I dunked it in water. I pulled it out, and broke open the mold. A long copper wire sat.

  Step one in progress.
