Chapter 5: Captains Adopted Son

It was so quiet at that moment that one could even hear the beating of everyone's hearts. All the pirates seemed to be frozen, but Castor could still see that their hands were trembling slightly.

"Kid...this joke is not funny..." Bob said in a trembling tone.

"It's not a joke though..." Castor tilted his head.

"Castor... if your parents are all dead, how is it possible you live here?! How are you able to live at this place?!" Jalen exclaimed, he stepped forward with difficulty, "Captain... It's impossible... right...?"

Jalen looked at the captain and found that Captain Raigh's expression was more terrified than anyone else's. His heart almost collapsed after seeing this scene.

They know Captain Raigh has more experience than anyone else. He even remained absolutely calm in life-threatening situations. Such a person would be so frightened by the child in front of him. He must have realized something extremely terrible.

At this moment, Captain Raigh's brain was working rapidly. He thought about what Castor had just said and realized a terrible thing.

"I know... I know...! There are no wizards or experimental subjects here at all. My previous conclusions were all wrong!" He yelled in his mind.

"He is cursed! Not only him! I'm afraid his family is cursed too! Even the whole island! There could be a cult behind this!" His mouth was dry, and for the first time, he found it so difficult to breathe. This time, he truly felt death.

Castor suddenly looked up at Captain Raigh. His dull eyes grew bigger and bigger in Captain's mind, and his fear grew bigger and bigger, as if the god of death was waving at him.

"Don't worry, they won't hurt you guys." Castor comforted and smiled.

Captain Raigh turned a deaf ear to what Castor said. Now, what he wanted to do most was to bring all the team members back and leave this place immediately.

"Let's move! Get back to the ship!" Captain Raigh yelled at them and walked towards the castle exit.

The sudden order also brought the pirates back from their fear. They immediately followed their captain in a hurry.

"Captain, how about this boy? You want to bring him, right?" Jalen asked and gently put his hand on Castor's shoulder.

"No need, hurry up! He won't die if we leave him here! We might die instead!" Captain Raigh turned back and shouted.

Jalen was stunned for a moment. He looked at Castor with an apologetic look and then immediately followed the crowd and left. Castor also followed silently behind.

At that moment, the basement door, which had been impossible to open even with ten people pushing it at once, slowly creaked open. The eerie sound of the wooden door made them even more frightened, prompting them to run faster.

"AHH!! DOES THE BASEMENT DOOR OPEN?! CASTOR'S PARENTS COMING?!" Jalen cried out.

"Tsk, our captain is here. What are you afraid of? Even a ghost captain can split it in half." Bob looked at him with disdain.

"Bob! I'm not that powerful!" Captain Raigh said, and finally, the exit is in front of them, "Hurry! It's right in front of us!"

Suddenly, a cool breeze blew over everyone from behind.

  Bang!

With a loud bang, the wooden door of the exit closed tightly, leaving no gap. Everyone stopped and looked around. The captain looked around but didn't find any traps, which made him feel his heart sink.

"W-what should we do now...?" A pirate asked weakly, his body trembling uncontrollably.

"I'll break down the door! Be careful..." Captain Raigh was going to unleash his cutlass, but a figure passed through him, it was Castor.

Castor stood in front of everyone and said lightly.

  "Mother..."

As soon as this was said, everyone paused and realized that it seemed that Castor's mother had closed the door and would not let anyone out.

In Castor's eyes, it's not just her mother who's in front of her, it's all the souls. The mother walked towards Castor silently and then squatted down.

"Mother... they don't seem to want to take me out, so can I stay here...?" Castor asked.

The mother did not answer immediately. After a while, a sobbing sound was heard. Castor was stunned on the spot. His first reaction was that his mother was crying, this was also the first time he had heard his mother crying.

"Castor... my son... You must leave..." Mother said with a trembling tone.

"Mother... mother... don't cry... I..." Castor stammered, his heart getting chaotic, something was pounding the cursed barrier heavily.

"Tell him... tell that pirate Captain... we will let them go if they bring you out, to the land of an empire." Mother said. This time her tone was even more heartbreaking.

"Mom... this is a gamble... they are pirates...!" Sister said with worry, "If they?"

"I know! I know they were pirate! But Castor has no chance of surviving in this place! He must go!" Mother turned back and shouted, "Castor... go... tell them."

Castor stood there blankly, at a loss. On one side, his grief-stricken mother wanted him to leave, and on the other side, the panicked pirates did not want to take him away.

"Why... why I must leave...?" Castor raised his head and asked.

"The island is going to sink... something is coming... you need to go now..." Mother sobbed, "Cas, please... tell them!"

Hearing this answer, he lowered his head again. Then the next moment, he turned back to look at Captain Raigh. The eyes of both parties collided at this moment.

"My mother said... If you bring me out, to the land of an empire... then she will let you guys go..." Castor said lightly.

Captain Raigh paused, staring at the closed door in front of him and thinking about what Castor said. He gritted his teeth. He got down on one knee, placed his right hand on his left chest, and bowed slightly.

"My name is Raigh Kotof, I am a moral pirate! Please rest assured! As a man, I will never break my promise. Now I promise you! I will bring your child safely to land, and I will even become his guardian if I have the chance!" Captain Raigh promised.

He gazed towards the door, even though he couldn't see Castor's mother, but from Castor's act a while ago, he knew Castor's mother was in front of them.

After a while, the door opened, or more accurately, it fell down. After all, it was broken to begin with, and it fell down without the support of the soul.

When the hot sun shone in from outside, they cheered loudly. Some pirates ran out to look around and confirmed that it was safe before turning back to report.

"Woohoo! Let's go, baby!!" Jalen cheered loudly and ran out and fell on the grass.

"Ahem... how about Captain...? And also that boy, Castor." Bob coughed lightly and asked.

When they turned around, they found their captain was chatting with Castor, and then he hugged him and put him on his shoulders. The captain was about 1.9 meters tall, and with his strong body, he had no difficulty in carrying Castor.

"He will be my son from now on. If anyone dares to bully him, I will throw him into the sea!" Captain Raigh declared.

"Huh? What?! For real?! Captain, you really going to be his guardian?!" Jalen was dumbfounded in an instant.

"Woah..." Bob was also astonished, "So our ship got a new little member."

"Yup, let's go back to our ship now! I'm gonna tell them about this." Captain Raigh smirked.

"Alright! Everyone, listen up! Head back to our ship and celebrate our Captain!!!" Jalen shouted with a wide grin.

"Aye! Yes, sir!" Every pirate shouted.

On the way back, the atmosphere was very cheerful, and Castor sat quietly on Captain Raigh's shoulders. His mother's words kept echoing in his ears.

  "Find your father..."

Castor shook his head slightly and asked, "Is this really okay? Mother didn't tell you to do this."

"Hmm? Yes, it's fine. I can finally know what it's the feeling of having a son. Hahaha..." Captain Raigh laughed.

The captain, who was originally worried and troubled by a lot of things, suddenly had a son and all his troubles disappeared. Although there is no blood relationship, he is just considered an adopted son.

But this is a forbidden sea after all, and troubles will come back. He also made up his mind to leave the forbidden sea and return to the mainland to retire and find a place to hide.

Soon, everyone returned to the boat.

"Yo, you guys come back so soon." Frank and Mark came to Captain Raigh and saw Castor sitting on his shoulder, "Ugh... who is that boy?"

"It's my... adopted son now." Captain Raigh said shortly and explained what had just happened on the island.

After Captain Raigh put Castor down, everyone gathered around him and was shocked after hearing what happened.

"It turns out ghosts really exist..."

"Yo Castor, I'm Frank, a helmsman in this ship!"

"My name is Jalen! Red hair, Jalen! And I'm the most handsome man on this ship! hehe..."

"Alright, let's set sail and prepare lunch." Captain Raigh commanded.

"Yes, sir!" Jalen grinned and commanded other people to set sail, Frank also got into his position.

With the cooperation of many people, the ship set sail smoothly. Castor was placed in the captain's room. There are messy cabinets, worn tables, and chairs.

Castor didn't care about these. What he cared about was a slender shadow stretched by the light, staying in an inconspicuous corner, but in the captain's room, there was only Castor.
